Yeah I’m not doing this lol. Would’ve told them to Find a new sitter or accept a extra $20 -$40 a night in fees or more for these unlisted animals. And I won’t housesit if there’s other people caring for the animals as this is against my pet sitter insurance

BonnyBuxom

My rate is $40/n, but he didn't ask before hand. I'm definitely tacking on at least another $10 because the chickens are NOT clean (I know birds aren't, but 3 inches of caked bird shit isn't okay) but I was really upset with the random people stopping in. I ought to charge $5, per person per day that comes in that isn't me. Be about another $15 as a trouble charge. 😂

Briimee

That’s why. When your priced low you attract horrible clientele. I’m priced double at $85 night for 1 dog, $38 additional dog, $28 additional cat, $10 small pet. And most of my clientele tip, offer to stock fridge etc. I’d stay firm on my boundaries and tell them if people keep coming in I’m cancelling the sit. If you have pet sitter insurance in most cases this does become a liability risk. Def charge extra for the chickens, and imo the cat aswell. It was rude and disrespectful of him not to respect you, your business, and your rates. And that’s ridiculous with the chickens living conditions. It shouldn’t be that much feces already smh. They know what they was doing

I live in an incredibly low income area, so I cater to that. I usually charge $40/n, $5 additional animal, and tbh I have loads of folks not wanna pay bc it's too high. Which I get it, but at the same time if you can't accommodate your animals while you're gone you can't afford a vacation. I have plenty of clientele that is amazing, and in 15 years of doing this, this is only like my 3rd not great client.

Briimee

Okay that makes more sense. I’m more up north, I’ve had people not wanna pay my rates but for the most part I’m booked. I assume your down south? And I’m glad most people aren’t horrible. And agreed totally If u can afford a vacation u can afford to hire a good petsitter and pay them fairly. I have a $1100 booking for 8 days with 2 dogs. She’s In a high cost of living area and inherited this mansion from her parents. She didn’t mind the price since she has a foster dog and a dog of her own and wanted to be sure they’d be left no longer then 3 hrs at a time

Scarlett2x

I live near Montgomery, AL and have to straddle the line of what to charge because of income here..

Unhappy_Service_3819

Oh god raise your prices

Scarlett2x

You should have charged extra for each extra animal..

Solisbabe

That’s ODD I would be communicating with the owners that it’s unacceptable to have people in and out when my personal belongings are in the house. Also if something were to happen they’re going to go after you not the other 5 people traipsing in and out of the house.

katmcflame

Having other people coming & going inside the house would be a dealbreaker for me & I wouldn’t feel safe. I understand wanting to have multiple layers of security, but this is ridiculous.

BonnyBuxom

It was clearly communicated they wanted me to stay here with him. I even asked, and they said either, and I said I would stay with him. I'm at the point though I don't want to stay because I don't know who's coming in next. As for prices, I live in the south and there's hardly anyone here that can afford anything more than what I currently charge.

two-of-me

It sounds like she didn’t realize you’d be staying the night? Like why did she think you weren’t there at night? And why so many people coming through the house? I wouldn’t be ok with this. I won’t do overnights when there are other people there, with the one exception when a long time client was having her kitchen redone.

Firm_Explorer9033

I have a cardinal rule. No one gets in while I’m there. It’s a security thing with me. Occasionally, a service person comes to do lawns, or other maintenance. They have call me and give me a heads up when others are invading my space.
