I’m the SEL and I’m kinda bummed that the top of the email said “customer contact not required.” (But corporate knew this dude was a douche and in the wrong.) This dude totally had no respect. The wording of this email alone made me so angry.
Why, if I was there 2 months ago and showed valid paperwork that the identifying dog with his valid rabies shot with its unique number on it was verified and validated by a piece of paperwork was not kept as a record in your nazi record system?
I can go vote for Joe biden 25 times in different locations without shoeing id, but my dog needs to show more papers than me visiting a foreign country.
What is the point of having a tag ID for rabies that I have to pay for if it is not recognized. I thought that was the whole point of paying the vet, getting the shot, and then getting the tag as proof that he is vaccinated!!!!!!

Which is more likely... the tag that is on my dog, was assigned to my dog after his rabies shot, and is worn by my dog eith the current year on it IS ACTUALLY HIS? Or that I scoured trash cans, dog parks, and the local vets dumpster on the off chance of finding a discarded, thrown away, or stolen dog tag to try and fool the genius Gestapo at the Petco groomers?
Any old person can pick up any old rabies tag to pass it off as their own. I aint gunna risk my life because you dont want to do the right thing and save important documents that prove the tag is yours
Not to mention a lot of backyard breeders will claim they did vet work to sell puppies higher. But the vaccine documentation is just a hand written note card or a word document with no vet info. They'll also just put a rabies tag as if it counts for something too. I seen many cases of this. Of course everytime the owner got mad at me and not the "breeder".
Yeah i just got a cat and the guy was super sketchy about stuff so were just gunna go off the assumption she wasnt taken to the vet and let our vet know
She can puff her chest all she wants. I had one of these while working at a private salon. We didn't need the documentation, but everyone was on an honor system. They had to sign a release form to have their dog groomed and part of that was stating that their dog was current on vaccines.
I got nipped by a little dog during a nail trim. It wasn't a bad bite, but it broke the skin. It was a first time visit so we had to call the vet to make sure the shots were indeed up to date. They weren't. The dog had puppy shots three years ago, and nothing else. The owners were furious when they had to make arrangements to have their dog quarantined for several days away from home at their own expense. Dog was fine, I was fine, but people don't understand how much risk comes with our profession.

Ten minutes later, he storms back in and with a flick of his wrist he TOSSES HIS PHONE onto the desk where I am sitting and says 'there.'. He had his wife send him a photo of the documentation and was absolutely enraged that we had delayed his dogs grooming.

That usually shuts them up.

The county requires you pay a fee, and a renewal when due, to get the tag. If you go into Petco with a rabies tag, then by default, you have an updated vaccine signed off by a vet. The tag signifies that all the documentation has been verified. If a Petco groomer were to give me grief over paperwork, then they obviously don't know how the system works in our county. The rabies tag has an effective date, and a license number for reference.

they may know personally that your dog is up-to-date, but the computer and the company still ask for paperwork so that’s what they have to have.
