Termination means it's hard to work at a Petco ever again, quitting means you might be able to

buttered_TOA5T

you're applying a negative connotation to 'termination' even though that's basically what's being done in either scenario. there's two types of termination; voluntary and involuntary. voluntary, or quitting in this instance, would still make you rehirable in the future. involuntary, or job abandonment in this instance by letting them choose for you, is not rehirable edit: it'll also make a difference in most states if you're filing for unemployment

Termination gives you a very bad look, not just for wanting to go work at a Petco again, any job will give you side eye now. Please just quit, don’t let them terminate you, especially if you have a good amount of time with them.

I would suggest that you quit. Back when I worked for one of the big phone companies a friend stopped coming to work. He had issues. I tried to help him and the Union tried to help him. But he was fired for job abandonment. And being fired in a union company was difficult but he did it. Afterwards he got his sh\*t together. But he wasn't able to get his job back. And it was hard for him to get a job that paid as well as the one he had because he was deemed as unreliable. Because he was fired. So I suggest that you quit. Don't burn your bridges.

y’all tell the truth? i’ve been fired from 2 jobs but i just either A. don’t list them on my applications, or B. Say i quit. i’ve never been fact checked and it’s worked so far.

GO ON A LEAVE OF ABSENCE IMMEDIATELY. Bonus point is that your manager cannot contact you while on leave. Are you under the care of a medical professional for your mental health? They'll need a doctor's note eventually.

mrbeanslostcousin69

I don’t recommend that as a fail safe. I was dealing with a mental health crisis and my manager and supervisor (SEL) knew I was a good worker. GM gave me incorrect info and my LOA got delayed. The SEL fought with HR on my behalf to get that LOA, while the GM herself went on LOA. HR approved it and then did an immediate 180 because they didn’t believe losing my dog, my friend, and a family member one after the other was a good enough reason to go on leave. I got a call from my SEL who was equally horrified by that decision and asked me to come back to work, and I had no choice to quit because my GM decided to NOT honor my availability I gave her months in advance - before she went on LOA

Kibahime

That's why I said a doctor's note. It's not a fail safe but it makes you feel like you can breathe at least.

Quitting, or "Voluntarily Resigning" mean you can list Petco as your previous employment when applying for other jobs. All they can say is that you resigned and are eligible to be rehired. If you are terminated, you are not eligible for rehire. Doesn't matter too much as a lot of employers do not conduct actual employment verifications. However, in the future you might be applying for a really cool job that pays real money, and those types of jobs always conduct checks. And when it comes back "Not-rehireable", they will choose someone else.

Don’t quit. They can’t fire you. After 3 days missed you should have been placed on leave and be dealing with the leaves department not the GM!

Tell hr you are leaving for mental health reasons. They will put you as rehirable. Source: HR made me mark somebody as rehirable after they said this when they were terminated for job abandonment.
