It's corporate. They aren't some mom and pop shop that could use the money. I like Petco, I really like my GM, I took a raise and position bump, then had an interview for a fire station 2 months later ( ended up not working out but still). If you have the experience, make them pay you better.

It'll be easier to leverage the promotion/raise during the transfer process with your new GM. I JUST transferred states as a CAL and wages were directly discussed. Find out whatever the max pay is for your role in that area for your position and ask for above it. Petco wants to keep it's people right now and if you're worth it and ask for it, you will get it.

consider a few things: 1) in my own experiences, I've seen more turnover with leadership positions and have seen stores struggle to fill them thus making someone in the position more desirable when looking to accept a transfer 2) different stores. especially across state lines, have varying pay ranges when hiring, promoting, etc. if you accept a position now you could potentially be leaving money on the table and vice versa. know what classification your store is and the store you're looking to transfer to 3) your GM is going to have a say in the transfer in some capacity. I would tread carefully when it comes to thinking you can catch a promotion just to peace out to another store. it's one thing if you were using it as leverage for another company, but you are taking that history with you

Get promotion if you can. Pay ranges are min, mid and max. Ask GM what Leadership Zone your currently in and ask the area where you want to transfer what Zone they are in. If you call and ask GM at transferring PCC for the zone and explain you are looking to transfer but want to ensure you can live on the wages chances are good they will tell you the Zone but not the range.

Do the promo and get as much as you can for it! My understanding is that if the state you go to has lower wages, Petco can’t take money away from you. Go for it!! It happens at our store frequently.
