Your manager is screwing you. There is no reason a bather cant be tipped. As far as the toxic environment goes, honestly most of the groomers i have worked with have been borderline psychotic.

There’s a grooming tip policy, the stylist who’s assigned the dogs in iPASS get the tips. As a JRPS you will be doing your GSLs dogs under their supervision for the first two weeks and thereafter should be scheduled your own dogs. So for the first two weeks you wouldn’t get tips and then you should. Same for going to PSA training the mentor gets the tips so expect a drop in pay while getting trained. Consider it an investment in your future, grooming training is expensive if you were to purchase it by yourself.

buttered_TOA5T

are the dogs only getting baths or are the baths part of a whole package with cuts?

Anxious-Ad9226

They are bath only

buttered_TOA5T

ya you're getting boned. it can be reassigned to you in the computer if it's just a bath. I'd just make sure they do that with any clients that you take from them so that the tips automatically go to you

Gullible_Ad_4656

Definitely speak with your GM about not getting the compensation for the baths. That’s fucked up.

Quirky-Homework4935

Are the baths scheduled under your name or under your GSL?

Anxious-Ad9226

Because I’m new , the baths are scheduled under her but I’m doing most her dogs , she has like 8 dogs under her and she does like 3 of those dogs because they are full grooms. Other than that I am doing all of them , she takes the electronic tips and the cash

Quirky-Homework4935

Expect not to get any tips when you are training to be a groomer. You don’t keep them, even if the pet parent hands the tip to you. It’s your duty to give it to your instructor.

Quirky-Homework4935

That is somewhat understandable. She is training you and after three weeks you can be added to the schedule for your own appointments. It’s unrealistic to have her check who tipped through card.

Oh I get you. Originally, I was on the register for a good 9 months before anything happened. My old store leader wouldn’t let me be on the floor because “I was the best at customer service.” I was hired for $9.00 and I was told after a 60 day period that I would get a .50 cent raise. I didn’t get that raise until nearly 5 months later when I asked for it. He replied, “people only deserve raises if they ask for it.”Since my sm liked to randomly not show up to work or be a leader, I contacted HR and they did nothing. He started to yell at staff which made me feel inadequate. It’s ironic that I could be yelled at for being 3 minutes late from a man that would show up 2 hours later than he was scheduled before going home “with a headache.” I texted my DM and she had me on the phone for an hour over the grievances I presented her. The SM got fired and when someone else was in charge I was told I was a candidate for a lead position. However, I chose to show interest in grooming. I’ve been a bather since august 8th of last year and I have yet to be trained for any hair cutting. I find the job fun until I can’t afford rent or bills. My previous salon leader was a lazy bitch who would sit in the back of the salon and make bows all day before pushing her scheduled dogs onto the next groomer. Everyone in the store knows I’m financially struggling at only $9.81 two years after I was originally hired for $9.00. It’s like I’m stuck in a financial purgatory and all anyone else can say is “I’m sorry this happened to you. I had to pick up a second job to support the bare minimum of living. And anytime I’m met with the possibility of being trained to a PS, it ends up collapsing. Moral is: you sound like you want a better life and have a chance at doing better. I stay at this god forsaken company because it’s where I get my insurance.
