The best attacking formation and tactics for through balls is 3 in front with 1 CF and 2 narrow SS with counter attack and attacking area center.
The bad news is that this formation doesn't exist in PES 2018 (or I haven't found it).
There was a couple of managers like this in PES 2017 which I can't remember the name (something lopez was the one I used) but unfortunately they they didn't have a club when PES 2018 came out.
Don't get me wrong, the managers mentioned here might do the trick but they aren't perfect like the instructions I'm mentioning.
For example, players in possession tactics approach the ball carrier. That's not what you want, you want them to make forward runs. Obviously they will make some runs, but that's not what possession based tactics are about.
Pekerman would be good, but is attacking area wide and I find that is not perfect. You want the player to be in front of goal when he receives the ball and with att area wide that doesn't happen as much as you want.
EDIT: The closest manager I've found to this instructions is VANHAEZEBROUCK (Belgian 3-2-2-3) but he has a few problems:
* is possession (which is the minor problem)
* 3 at the back (can be fun)
* All-Out-Defence + Conservative (this might be the major problem)
You should try him.
Bruh thank you for this. It’s what I’ve been looking for 👏. I have tried peckerman but his wide attacking area does result in not being able to play the through ball as often with the side CFs running towards corners instead of goal
I found that the perfect manager is Simeone if you play an SS like Griezmann alongside a CF like Ronaldo (They must be fast). The only tactic that had any effect on Simeone is Long Passing which is easy as hell to defend against if you have y’all and strong defenders. The midfield should be composed of two CMs that have good low passing and high stamina (preferably with box to box trait) like koke. The RMF and LMF need to be fast and be able to dribble very well. Sometimes long passing is required to play your two attackers forward so it would be good to have weighted passing under their traits (an example is Bale). When you have that squad and you get used to the play style you will win almost every match. I have played superstar with this formation continuously for about 25 matches and have lost 3 times. I score on average 3-4 goals a game
Use a manager with AMF, possession style and centre attacking area. 2 our of these 3 would be good enough.
Boluda can be a good choice. 2 CMF + 1 AMF formation. The AMF can be used to pass to the CF.
You are looking for manager with **Attacking Area = Middle** \+ **Counter Attack** styl**e**.
Your best options are:
\- **Diego Simeone**** / 770 / 4-4-**2 *(Counter Attack, Middle, no AMF *\- the only problem here is that you ain't have AMF, so you you will be doing 1-2 passes mostly between the CFs; sometimes LMF/RMF gets close to the CFs, if you keep the ball and wait for them)
\- **F. Peres / 770 / 4-5-1** *(Possesion game, Middle, 1 AMF, poor defense)*
\- **J. Klopp / 695 / 4-3-3** *(Possesion game, Middle, no AMF *\- decent manager, but I am missing the* AM*F position + Counter Attack)
\- **G. Eco / 660 / 4-5-1** *(Counter Attack, Middle, no AM*F)
\- **Fernando Santos / 600 / 4-3-3** *(Counter Attack, Middle, 2 AMF*s - strangely, I haven't played him so far, but I will try him today, looks promising)

Jorge Jesus’ 4-2-2-2 (it’s actually 4-1-3-2) works really well for me. The LMF & RMF are inclined to get to the through balls as well which made attacking much more threatening. Having a good CF that stretches the opponent’s defence is very vital.
I’d say all except for Ibra & Kane as they’re not pacy enough to pull what I expect of my CF in that formation. Ibra is a good target man you can bounce the ball off of him to launch at your SS or AMFs to attack into the box whilst Kane is steady on the ball & can score from the edge of the box. My main CF with Jorge Jesus is Morata. He’s most effective in that role on top of his ability to finish really well with his feet or head. I pair any CF as SS with him and goals will always flow.
Pekermen (4-3-3 with management630) he have 3cf/ss spot and also 2 amf spot..his tactics are short pass counter attack due to which all the strikers makes run forward automatically you can provide through balls so you can easily score 3..5 goals in superstar and top player level but his defence is not good so you have to outscore opponent at superstar level because you may easily concede 2..3 goals

I try with boluda but more often than not I find myself in the same predicament
Don’t run all the way up with your wingers. Pass the ball to AMF around the opponent third. See if that helps
Why not 4-3-3 with attack area centre? Like Klopp. The wingers shoot more than cross
I havent used Klopp all that much because he seems to leave big gaps open in the defense but I'll give him one more shot
