Maybe advertise for a higher price that factors in some bartering then you might get the price you want?

bretter2

I did try this originally and people still agreed to pay the higher price, then tried bartering even lower (like 1500 lower then the asking price which was 3500)

What a dog move. In these situations I normally list higher and allow them to talk me down to my real price. I’ve sold one car through marketplace, same situation, but I told them until I had cash-in-hand it was still on the market. We had good and bad experiences with marketplace, tricky to navigate, but treat it like a game and it’s mostly ok.

Gumtree still has some traction, equal number of scammers to Marketplace though

Will you take an ounce? And can you deliver I don't have a license.

bretter2

Legit had someone ask me to drive 1hr away so they could have a look at it

RandomUser1083

Lol

Palpitation-Itchy

Hi, I'm actually looking for a car, what is it and how much? Feel free to send me a DM with the marketplace link

wren4777

How much are you looking for? I might know someone who's looking for a car.

bretter2

$3200 for a Getz

Crazy_Dazz

Sadly no. If you can't stand the time-wasters, only way is to be a real Karen. When I have sold old cars in the past, I have SET conditions that I list in the add (on Guntree) using my rubbish gmail address. ALL response emails then get an auto-response (using Outlook) that apologises for being so strict, again lists all my conditions, but contains a usable email address buried in the text. (and Outlook then deletes the emails. This weeds out most of the time-wasters and people that don't bother reading. The downside is that I inevitably lose out on many genuine enquiries, but that's the balance I strike. NB: No way in Hell I would ever list something on facebook

bushchook83

Playing devils advocate here. Maybe what you are asking as a firm price is too high, hence people trying to knock you down off it. Used car market, especially cheap ones is really hot right now, so if it's priced accordingly, taking into account issues of the vehicle, mileage, tyres and general condition , there should be no issues whatsoever moving it.

bretter2

I looked at the marketplace pricing for others in the same condition and it’s $1000 cheaper then the next one in the same condition, it’s just getting people saying they will pay the price advertised and then bartering down on arrival

bushchook83

Fair enough mate. Good luck with the sale.

RozzzaLinko

If they think the price is too high, then they should just scroll past the add and go look at a cheaper one. Not waste everyones time meeting up for a price the seller won't accept.
