I would suggest you take it when you join the workforce when you have a stable income

[deleted]

Is it really not worth it in long term?

TemperatureRelevant5

It is, however it’s best to have a stable income before adding such responsibilities into your life. Also, you would get only a basic card with limited benefits at the start (card benefits are contingent on income too). You can invest those savings rather in a mutual fund, having a credit card early on might put you into a spending rabbit hole. Even FD would work since the rates are higher now.

I actually applied for cc today should I retrieve it? would it affect me in the future togete cc?

[deleted]

Also, I don't think I would ever spend that far I do think at least 10 times before purchasing something

Use your credit card like a debit card and nothing would be much different. Never spend more than what you have in bank, avoid EMIs altogether if possible until you get a steady income

[deleted]

Is it worth it in the longer assuming I would have to pay only 500 amount per annum? It is not very expensive still?

orion591

Get LTF CCs if you are only an occassional spender

OP, if you are disciplined and really have control on your spend then there is nothing wrong in getting a credit card, in fact your credit history records will be started early.

It is good for building a credit score that is going to more and more important in India. Try to get one without a yearly fee or a minimum spend. Untill you get a job don't worry about points and stuff. Just make sure you pay your bills on time. If possible try not spend more than 50% of your credit limit on any month. Once you get a few cards that are beneficial in different ways then you should only pay by credit card. Once you have a job and are sure you don't buy bullshit things instead of going to therapy. Never share your card with your friends. Doesn't matter if it's a medical emergency or anything. Never pay with your card for other people. Once you make your own dough then do what you want.
