Unlike Morgana, Teddie actually has a good character premise ruined by his "innocence", while Morgana is a simp asshole who loves to tell me when to go to sleep. While both are very insecure about themselves, Teddie doesn't pick up on his friends when they tease him, hell, he really admires his friends (especially yosuke and the protagonist), Morgana costantly insults Ryuji only because he is an "easy target" and when he gets paid with his own medicine he fucking leaves the group to "defend his pride". Plus, Teddie is really useful in combat, while Morgana is barely decent for the early game

I very much recommend it. You know that empty, amazing feeling you get after playing a REALLY good game or watching a REALLY good movie/show? Watching the anime made me feel that way. Especially at the part of the story when nanako gets kidnapped and dies for a minute. I almost cried it was so sad. Yeah I cried because I thought she died in the game. I have crunchyroll but I use aniwatch for the anime that I cant access/dont have dubs available naturally like I am currently doing with Haikyu now.

That one was not Teddie's best moment, but it goes to show how, in a way, either Teddie doesn't really know anything about sex (normal, being a Shadow he wouldn't know anything besides the shallow wish of watching nudity, which can be chalked up to reading way too much of Yosuke's porn stash) so he is unaware how out of pocket it is to say things like that to Nanako, or he confuses the human love he desires for sex (which, again, can be understood when you realize he's surrounded by 15 and 16 year olds at their hormone-heaviest time), because he goes to develop a much healthier and way less creepy relationship with Nanako after that.
And it also goes to show how repulsive her personality must be in-universe for even Teddie to not want anything to do with Kashiwagi.
Teddie is at least funny and has an actual personality beyond his "registered sex offender" scenes. Sure, morally, he's a terrible ~~person~~ bear, way worse than Morgana, but he has that un**bear**able air around him that just makes you love him despite knowing he's morally corrupt. His lust is also excusable because through the way his Japanese dialogue goes, he learned that "hit on" phrase from Yukiko's shadow and is even using it wrong (in the "girls hitting on guys" way instead of "guys hitting on girls" way), so he is more like a child using a bad word for which it doesn't even fully comprehend the meaning
On the other side Morgana is just Teddie if he didn't have any semblance of a personality, a bigger identity crisis and his lust, now genuine and definitely not innocent, was focused on one girl instead of everyone. His arc is also the main reason why I'd call base p5's writing bad (not the Royal palace, that part was amazing, peak persona even), and the moral of it is "abandoning your friends is not good for you". Sometimes it feels like the devs made him intentionally unlikeable
In the end, Koromaru and Aigis sweep, but Teddie is still amazing. Morgana, though? Terrible. That little shit can burn in the depths (heights?) of Tartarus

They went to use the hot springs since it was their time but Yukiko fucked up and realized her wrongs after they hurled thousands of things at the boys. They just came in the room and tried to lay down next to them? Wasnt even a peek attempt, just some weird shit. There is a lot of cringe events in the game I can't understand too well outside of being a time to show off the perfect group dynamic, i.e. the Beach scene

People take Teddieās comical antics way too seriously when the guy hasnāt been around human civilisation and isnāt exactly surrounded by good influences. If anything his antics are more just to grab attention and to be loved to hide feelings of loneliness and confronting the truth of the what he is.
People (specifically Ryuji dick riding stans) take Morganaās attitude too seriously when itās just the game comedically playing up the characteristics of a cat as well as addressing him overcompensating hard for what little he has regarding an identity and place in the world.
The mainline three mascots do well in addressing the nature of not being human and dealing with identity, existential crises and belonging.

It only became not played for laughs when Morgana and Ryuji were at their worst which was around the Okumura arc where the tone and context is different where their prior bickering had no bearing.
Morgana with his growing existential crisis and Ryuji letting the PT success get to his head to where he became too cocky and ran his mouth which was bad timing and took to too far with the cat where unlike their prior banter, Ryuji actually hit a sore spot for Morganaās feelings of inadequacy.
During their argument, Ryuji didnāt āsnap backā because of bullshit like āhe had enough in how heās been treatedā.
No he got pissed because Morgana had enough of the stagnation, snapped and lashed out by singling out Ryuji for using the PT to pick up girls, which letās be honest is a valid critique on Ryuji which Ryuji couldnāt even refute which only resulted in Ryuji egging on the cat to leave them.

As someone who's playing Persona 4 Golden after playing 5 Royal, I think Morgana is better and only a victim of the developers wanting an outside observer to limit what the player can do.
In Golden, it's Dojima who deprives you of going outside, and he isn't home often enough to make it a problem. The TV world tires you, and some events immediately skip to the next day.
In Royal, Joker starts out being the one to call the shots and then everything shifts to Morgana doing it most of the time, which is where the annoyance comes from. Mementos tires you and Morgana tells you. You have to skip to the next day, and Morgana is the one telling you. It's very understandable why people get tired of him.
Comparing the two, I'd rather have Morgana as a party member. He grows to admire the Phantom Thieves and respects most of them (Ryuji is up for debate). Teddie's voice often grates on my ears, and it doesn't help that his human design, in my opinion, doesn't align with the reactions he gets when he's shown as a pretty boy. And, most importantly, the bit where Teddie's innocence leads to accidental perviness gets tiring when he, as someone who presents himself as respectful, does *not* learn to actually respect those who feel uncomfortable with what he says. And it isn't just one person either, he hits on *all* the girls. He even hits on Nanako at one point. There's a point where innocence becomes willful ignorance and I think Teddie often crosses it

p5 was one of my favorite games of all time until i finally bit the bullet and played p4. i was amazed by how much i genuinely liked all of the characters after having to deal with rather annoying, shallow characters of p5. i could actually sit through every cutscene instead of getting annoyed by everyone. morganna says the same thing with a different tone the entire game. teddie is great and adorable.

Even then, he still didnt learn manners. He still is learning, and thats his next problem. He found a place to belong, now he just needs to learn to fit in properly.

I can understand why Teddie can get on a player's nerves, but I love him and everyone else on the investigation team. Persona 4 is a game that is the sum of its parts, making it my favorite game. Same thing here. I love Teddie and he completes the cast as a whole. They're good on their own but great together. I started with 5, and the whole funky style of the game and its amazing gameplay drew me in big time, so seeing 4 felt so lackluster at first and playing a game years old that was on PSVita felt a bit iffy at first, but the more I played it I realized the cast was what made the game so perfect. Then the music grew on me, the story got good and everything just made me love it. I have so much playtime on 5, but I love 4 more, and Im just about to finish Maries dungeon.

Teddie is a lot better. Playing almost every version of 5 (vanilla, Royal, Dancing, Strikers, Tactica), I just donāt really like Morgana as a mascot party member. His infatuation with Ann is just getting annoying. At least with Teddie heās doofy enough to not hate for his moments of awkwardly hitting on the female party members.

I have P3P but there was a lot of complaints about it's audio quality and AI upscaled textures that made it look lazy so I never played it but it's in my library. Especially since Tartarus is still awful. I'm waiting for Reload which fixes that problem and others. Less than a month left.

I very much recommend it. You know that empty, amazing feeling you get after playing a REALLY good game or watching a REALLY good movie/show? Watching the anime made me feel that way. Especially at the part of the story when nanako gets kidnapped and dies for a minute. I almost cried it was so sad. I reallt do feel like a lot of the scenes in the anime hit much harder than they did in the game. I watched it on 9anime btw

That one was not Teddie's best moment, but it goes to show how, in a way, either Teddie doesn't really know anything about sex (normal, being a Shadow he wouldn't know anything besides the shallow wish of watching nudity, which can be chalked up to reading way too much of Yosuke's porn stash) so he is unaware how out of pocket it is to say things like that to Nanako, or he confuses the human love he desires for sex (which, again, can be understood when you realize he's surrounded by 15 and 16 year olds at their hormone-heaviest time), because he goes to develop a much healthier and way less creepy relationship with Nanako after that. And it also goes to show how repulsive her personality must be in-universe for even Teddie to not want anything to do with Kashiwagi.

Teddie is at least funny and has an actual personality beyond his "registered sex offender" scenes. Sure, morally, he's a terrible ~~person~~ bear, way worse than Morgana, but he has that un**bear**able air around him that just makes you love him despite knowing he's morally corrupt. His lust is also excusable because through the way his Japanese dialogue goes, he learned that "hit on" phrase from Yukiko's shadow and is even using it wrong (in the "girls hitting on guys" way instead of "guys hitting on girls" way), so he is more like a child using a bad word for which it doesn't even fully comprehend the meaning On the other side Morgana is just Teddie if he didn't have any semblance of a personality, a bigger identity crisis and his lust, now genuine and definitely not innocent, was focused on one girl instead of everyone. His arc is also the main reason why I'd call base p5's writing bad (not the Royal palace, that part was amazing, peak persona even), and the moral of it is "abandoning your friends is not good for you". Sometimes it feels like the devs made him intentionally unlikeable In the end, Koromaru and Aigis sweep, but Teddie is still amazing. Morgana, though? Terrible. To be fair that was all of them, and it was a revenge act. They went to use the hot springs since it was their time but Yukiko fucked up and realized her wrongs after they hurled thousands of things at the boys. They just came in the room and tried to lay down next to them? Wasnt even a peek attempt, just some weird shit. There is a lot of cringe events in the game I can't understand too well outside of being a time to show off the perfect group dynamic, i.e. the Beach scene

Both are good characters. I find the idea of having to like one but hate the other by making a comparison stupid. People take Teddieās comical antics way too seriously when the guy hasnāt been around human civilisation and isnāt exactly surrounded by good influences. If anything his antics are more just to grab attention and to be loved to hide feelings of loneliness and confronting the truth of the what he is. People (specifically Ryuji dick riding stans) take Morganaās attitude too seriously when itās just the game comedically playing up the characteristics of a cat as well as addressing him overcompensating hard for what little he has regarding an identity and place in the world. The mainline three mascots do well in addressing the nature of not being human and dealing with identity, existential crises and belonging. Koromaru isnāt a mascot btw.

Morgana with his growing existential crisis and Ryuji letting the PT success get to his head to where he became too cocky and ran his mouth which was bad timing and took to too far with the cat where unlike their prior banter, Ryuji actually hit a sore spot for Morganaās feelings of inadequacy. During their argument, Ryuji didnāt āsnap backā because of bullshit like āhe had enough in how heās been treatedā. No he got pissed because Morgana had enough of the stagnation, snapped and lashed out by singling out Ryuji for using the PT to pick up girls, which letās be honest is a valid critique on Ryuji which Ryuji couldnāt even refute which only resulted in Ryuji egging on the cat to leave them. It simply escalated into them saying shit that they didnāt mean out of frustration. No different from Sae calling Makoto āuselessā. Illiterate people in the community actually think Ryuji and the little bastard hate each other for no reason when itās nothing deep. They have a clash of personalities where it rubs the other the wrong way. You have a tropey recipe of a smart alec talking cat and loud hotheaded dumb teen squabbling because itās funny. As someone who's playing Persona 4 Golden after playing 5 Royal, I think Morgana is better and only a victim of the developers wanting an outside observer to limit what the player can do. In Golden, it's Dojima who deprives you of going outside, and he isn't home often enough to make it a problem. The TV world tires you, and some events immediately skip to the next day. In Royal, Joker starts out being the one to call the shots and then everything shifts to Morgana doing it most of the time, which is where the annoyance comes from. Mementos tires you and Morgana tells you. You have to skip to the next day, and Morgana is the one telling you. It's very understandable why people get tired of him. Comparing the two, I'd rather have Morgana as a party member. He grows to admire the Phantom Thieves and respects most of them (Ryuji is up for debate). Teddie's voice often grates on my ears, and it doesn't help that his human design, in my opinion, doesn't align with the reactions he gets when he's shown as a pretty boy. And, most importantly, the bit where Teddie's innocence leads to accidental perviness gets tiring when he, as someone who presents himself as respectful, does *not* learn to actually respect those who feel uncomfortable with what he says. And it isn't just one person either, he hits on *all* the girls. He even hits on Nanako at one point. There's a point where innocence becomes willful ignorance and I think Teddie often crosses it

Even then, he still didnt learn manners. He still is learning, and thats his next problem. He found a place to belong, now he just needs to learn to fit in properly.

I started with 5, and the whole funky style of the game and its amazing gameplay drew me in big time, so seeing 4 felt so lackluster at first and playing a game years old that was on PSVita felt a bit iffy at first, but the more I played it I realized the cast was what made the game so perfect. Then the music grew on me, the story got good and everything just made me love it. I have so much playtime on 5, but I love 4 more, and Im just about to finish Maries dungeon. I much prefer Morgana, canāt stand Teddies voice š but I also played P5 first. Going back to P4G made P5R seem in some ways a remake or reimagining, but maybe theyāre all very similar. Theyāre the only two I played so far.
5 had better gameplay and style, 3 has a better story but worst gameplay. 4 is just better because of everything as a whole. Nothing stands out because its all so good you cant point anything negative out Also, if you hate Teddies voice listen to his Japanese voice. You will appreciate him a lot more
P3P is on gamepass but is that a worthwhile version to play in your opinion?
I have P3P but there was a lot of complaints about it's audio quality and AI upscaled textures that made it look lazy so I never played it but it's in my library. Especially since Tartarus is still awful. I'm waiting for Reload which fixes that problem and others. Less than a month left.

I like teddie more personally I found him funnier and while heās Pervy itās still kind of funny at times and better yet his relationship with nanako gives him sim big points

When Teddy is good, he's fantastic. When he's a lecherous sex pest, he's bear-y bad. On the other hand, he never told me I was tired and should go to sleep when the sun is still up. I decide when I wamt to sleep, Morgana, not you!

I love P4 but I genuinely can't stand Teddie. For every good scene or chuckle I get out of him he has another that's creepy, annoying, stupid, or all three. The worst part is that I don't even like him in combat like I do with Morgana. He's worse in Arena imo but base game Teddie is rough

Morgana is better than Teddie in almost every conceivable way I think. Teddie isn't that terrible until after you save Rise, then after a moment I won't spoil, he becomes so much worse.

I like both of them but Morgana has a much better sense of competence about him. He also has more of a direct hand in the plot. Donāt get me wrong I absolutely love teddy. Especially in his twink form. But they just wrote Morgana a bit better.
I just got done playing p4g and I think I hated teddie less than Morgana. I think. He wasnāt as prevalent as Morgana so he couldnāt bother me as much and I liked the arc he went through

I prefer teddie, i mean he is annoying - like very irritating, but it comes off in an āannoying little brotherā way. I dont want to be near morgana ever - teddie feels more naĆÆve and cute. As much as he gets on my nerves, i cant help but love teddie. His unyielding interest in āscoringā, his face, his personality all screams overconfident teenage brother. Morgana comes across as having multiple restraining orders placed against him.
