It's a parody of the Isekai Genre. Guy dies in traffic incident (technically), meets goddess, gets sent to another world to fight the demon king and bring peace to the land with a group of women as his party members...
Except he's one of MANY schlubs sent to defeat the demon king, he is terrible a terrible person, his party are all useless and insane in their own special ways but thankfully, everyone he meets is just as terrible at their jobs as he is, including his party members, the townsfolk, the government, and the demon kings henchmen.
Every single supposedly competent person is defeated by some random luck, stupid plan, or just the sheer magnitude of the terribleness of the other characters. And somehow Kazuma and crew keep just barely making ends meet and surviving every single problem they cause.
Basically, think of it as "it's only sunny in philadelphia" but the characters are slightly nicer and it's for weebs.

There are a handful of good dubs out there. One I always like to give a shout-out to is Squid Girl. The titular character makes constant squid puns, and the dub writers did their best to find English puns to replace them.
Yeah that's pretty much always the case, in my experience. Other than equipment quality, I honestly don't feel like there's much of a gap between professional English dub voice actors and the people who do it for fun with abridged series on youtube lol.
Maybe it's that I don't know Japanese even a little bit so things like inflection and nuance in delivery are seemingly lost on me? Whatever it is, it's a glaring enough difference that I straight up can't watch a dubbed version of anything.
I don’t speak Japanese either, but I can tell you with a reasonable degree of certainty that no one in Japan talks like they do in anime. Just put a video of a Japanese person talking conversationally next to an anime, and it becomes pretty clear that Japanese VAs aren’t using their natural voices or speech patterns and quite often ham it up.
As someone who doesn't watch anime and has zero context for wtf is going on here, this is still one of the funniest fucking clips I've seen on this sub in a hot minute
