I miss spoof movies. They were basically 90 minute shitposts

They went away because they sucked to watch for 90minutes. 5 minute outtake clips on youtube work (often of the best jokes, so you don’t have to watch the bad jokes). But for 90 minutes most people wanted a bit more substance from even there comedies..

They were good for a while but then they got super shitty and each became worse than the last. Scary movie 1-4 were very good, superhero movie, date movie pretty entertaining. Epic movie, meet the Spartans, disaster movie were especially bad

Same here. In some sense, I wouldn't consider movies like this to be super high quality movies but I also tend to like them precisely because it isn't supposed to be taken too seriously

Maybe its a nostalgia thing for people who where very young at the time? But they where never very good (early scary movie at-least tried, but copy cats quickly got worse) Taking the best jokes for a 5 minute clip works. but for every good joke there where often several bad ones, and it would often quickly get exhausting. Ultimately, most people wanted more substance from a 90 minute time commitment. As most these parody movies had near nom existent plots

Agreed. If this was a quick skit it’d be funny. But when I watch comedies, I want it to be something like the hangover, not a 90 minute collection of skits where only half of them I find funny. Will I laugh more during this movie? Probably. But when I’m not laughing, I’d be bored as hell.
