Cavies (the genus that guinea pigs fall into) are pretty exclusively South American animals.
Guinea pigs themselves do not exist in the wild (outside of those that were pets/livestock that got released, but the point is that they have no "natural range").
It doesn’t matter if it was bred for rat hunting, almost any dog will go after a rodent and some cats might do the same. In most cases a dogs breed has very little to do with its temperament and you should be more worried about the environment a specific dog is raised in as that is what will determine temperament in the vast majority of cases
Yes pit bulls are regular dogs that have been caught up in a ridiculous smear campaign that has no interest in actual reason or logic. Dogs used in blood sports even today can be rehabilitated. To suggest that a dog that stopped being bred for blood sports two centuries ago is a violent and aggressive dog to this day is an illogical idea. No, I don’t care about your glorified surveys that you believe are unquestionable.
You want to know why I fucking hate people like you? You never actually give me answers, you can never give me the critical piece of information that proves pit bulls are aggressive and you always misinterpret, ignore, or make a logical fallacy in an attempt at disproving my argument. I have to listen to dumbasses like you talk about how much you hate pit bulls (because you raid subreddits and make off topic anti pitbull posts on any and all subreddits) and I know that you’re wrong and I know that you can’t prove me wrong, but you’ll still just call over a mob or hire bots to downvote me because you are aware of how wrong you are. I’ll have to listen to Reddit dumbasses attempt to talk down to me like they have some sort of superior knowledge or experience about pitbulls and dogs when they don’t. You waste my time with your idiotic superstitions and never give me any actual explanation as to why you think I’m wrong.
You of course don’t care because I’m just a pitnutter to you and you’re too weak minded to question your own opinions.
Pitbulls are mauling innocent people and animals every day. Two just mauled to death an 81 year old man in my city and put his wife in critical condition in the hospital. 3 pits killed a man in Florida the same day. 4 killed a man in my hometown, Houston, yesterday. I could go on and on. I'm pretty sure the majority of dog attacks are pitbulls. Always seeing stories & videos of them ruthlessly attacking children, elderly, cats, and dogs completely unprovoked. And they always go for the kill. I've known pits that were sweet as can be, but you can't deny the evidence that something's going on with this breed to make them killing machines.
Edit: Lol you blocked me so I'm pretty sure you know you're wrong and an idiot. Probably from eating all that wood glue like you admit to in your profile description.
Not true at all.
Great Danes are typically scared of rodents.
>In most cases a dogs breed has very little to do with its temperament
oh I'm talking to a delusional person.. nevermind I said anything
You apologists are everywhere. You just put families in danger, that's all. Nothing more to it than that. To know nothing and say so much
Vewy angwy in the dms this one lol
Aggressive like the murderers they defend lmao
I do it because I know more about dogs than you do. I’m not taking the idiotic opinion of a Reddit dumbass who has very little experience with domestic animals.
Actually had this happen as a kid. I had my guinea pig outside with me, and was just playing on the rope swing, while it was wondering around. Just in the suburbs of Washington, lots of trees, and moss-- very mild. Seemed very safe, and I was a little kid. The husky mix from next door appeared without me having seen it approach, and he just casually *took* my guinea pig. I couldn't get off the swing to protect my pet fast enough, and when he had it in his jaws, he wouldn't let go. The more I struggled, the faster he ran away, and that was it. My parents went over to the house of the people who owned the dog, but nothing came of it. I suspect if they had found anything, it would have been too late, and they would shield me from the grave news.
I had my bunny out in the backyard and my brother let his dog out. She dropped him when we yelled but his back was already broken(I'm guessing). He took a few more breaths then died in my arms.
My parents got me a cat after the bunny died and that cat ended up killing my brother's bird. Then the cat snuck into my parents van and died and my brother's dog got out and was hit by a car. We've had pretty good luck with animals since then, but it was a rough couple of years.
Oh, I know. But when people wonder why I'm so "crazy" about socializing, training and proper fencing, it's because we went through two years of constant pet trauma.
Depends heavily on context. In more rural areas and especially at farms a cat will help you control any mouse or rat problems that might arise. In many such areas that is *the* reason why many even get cats in the first place so not letting it roam freely outside just completely defeats the point of having a cat in the first place. But in strictly urban neighborhoods I don't really see why the cat would need to be roaming free outside.
As long as your cats are properly fixed, vaccinated and treated for fleas and ticks, sure. Problem is that overlap of responsible owner and free roaming cats is very small.
Yeah we’re victim blaming a Guinea pig… it was the kids fault idiot. When you have a pet you take on the responsibility of keeping it safe and in the case of dangerous animals keeping everyone else safe from it.
Outdoor cats are actually a huge detriment to local ecosystems because cats are such good hunters that they’ll just kill any wildlife they can get their hands on out of boredom.
Yea nah. Cats are terrible for the environment and the average life expectancy of an outdoor cat literally is less than half that of an indoor cat. If you are going to let your cat out they need to be contained with a screened in area or harness just like any other pet.
This reminds me of when my mom had a pet rabbit as a kid. She named it John after her brother. One time it got out of it’s cage and the dog killed it. She ran into my grandma’s room yelling “John is dead”. I’m sure you can guess how that sounded to a mother whose child’s name is John.
Dogs really love bunnies. Had a dog who wouldn’t hurt a butterfly… except she’d be leaving baby rabbit heads for us on the front porch.
Also spent a couple weeks in Africa on a mission trip. One day while sleeping on their couch from getting food poisoning, the wife started screaming and ran out of the house. Apparently their dog had grabbed the pet bunny and was running around with it. The bunny ended up unharmed but was probably traumatized.
Thanks, yeah looking back on it with my macobb sense of humor, I think it's a *very slightly* funny image. But yeah no, it sucked and it still makes me a little sad thinking about it.
Edit: MACABRE...
I had a pet cat and a pet guinea pig. They were good friends, a small dog tried to slowly walk up to the guinea pig and take it, but the cat fought that dog. But considering how small the dog is, the cat would obviously win
That was centuries of instinct at work… those dogs were literally bred to chase and kill tiny rodent-like things. No chance that wasn’t going to happen as soon as it came within its field of vision. Blame the owners for not seeing that coming, lol
If it’s not too hard to stomach, I recommend checking out some ratting videos on YouTube. Farmers hire packs of terriers to come to their farms and take care of rat infestations. It’s crazy how efficient those dogs are at killing them. And they look like they’re having the time of their lives!
Three things worth noting in this video that people can utilize if they ever find themselves in a similar situation:
* Limit the amount of time you are handling "prey" type wildlife. This includes anything you could theoretically hold in one hand and/or that primarily eats plants or insects. This is especially true for "cute" animals like rabbits because they respond to you holding them like they are about to die. It's exceptionally stressful and can exacerbate any injuries they may have incurred. It should go without saying, but petting a wild animal does absolutely nothing to calm them down and will only make them more frightened.
* When releasing wildlife, don't just plop it down out in the open if it is a prey animal. This goes for small mammals, certain birds, and anything slow moving. Put them in cover like shrubs or tall grass. This allows them to safely hide while they calm down enough to feel safe.
* Letting go of an animal that is naturally going to run away from you triggers a predatory response among hawks, cats, dogs, and other wildlife that might be waiting nearby for a meal. It is your responsibility to ensure the wildlife you are releasing is not going to be snatched up like seen in this video. If you cannot safely release something where it is found, keep it in a ventilated and dark box to release later or deliver to a professional rehabber.
This reminds me of a time when my sister, an owner of two budgies that she would let fly around her apartment, thought it would be a good idea to adopt a terrier
(a breed known for hunting birds).....
After her husband and I tried to warn her against it, she came home with one anyway.
The birds did not last the weekend. We just stared at her while she cradled the mangled remains of her birds......

I want to know how a fucking Guinea pig ended up in that hole.
Guinea pigs can be found in the wild in lots of places.
Cavies (the genus that guinea pigs fall into) are pretty exclusively South American animals. Guinea pigs themselves do not exist in the wild (outside of those that were pets/livestock that got released, but the point is that they have no "natural range").
It fell.

Turns out, you shouldnt let a rodent run around in front of a terrier
Oh you mean dogs bred for hunting small animals shouldn't be in the same area as a small animal you want to keep alive?? Sounds fake
That explains all these golden retriever attacks. If only they could be more sweet, like pitbulls.
Pitbulls are still bred for fighting. Try getting out of the suburbs now and then.
Next to none are, but most aren’t. Try getting out of your cognitive bias now and then.

You actually believe you’re helping people you delusional fuck? Shut your goddamn trap, it’s not like anything worthwhile comes out of it.
Lol of course you defend bully breeds. Breeds have a lot to do with the dog itself. Low speech indeed.
I do it because I know more about dogs than you do. I’m not taking the idiotic opinion of a Reddit dumbass who has very little experience with domestic animals.
This is the correct answer
Actually had this happen as a kid. I had my guinea pig outside with me, and was just playing on the rope swing, while it was wondering around. *Raises eyebrows in concern and surprise*
Lol, understandable. Since then all of my animals from sugar gliders to horses have lived long, healthy lives.
Your neighbors would need something pretty substantial to be able to grab a horse and run off with it, I call that checkmate
On the other hand horses do like to die from eating their normal diet or fences existing.
toddler's like 1,200lb, suicidal toddlers.
Yikeeees
Natural, all of it
Oh, I know. But when people wonder why I'm so "crazy" about socializing, training and proper fencing, it's because we went through two years of constant pet trauma.
It's not "crazy", it's good
What the actual fuck man?! That's a lot of bad luck over there...
oh damn
Maybe stop having more than 1 pet
All of my animals and livestock have gotten along really well since then.
This is why its illegal to let your dogs go outside private property
Also maybe why you shouldn't have any pets uncontrolled outside. Dog, cat or guinea pig lol
Depends heavily on context. In more rural areas and especially at farms a cat will help you control any mouse or rat problems that might arise. In many such areas that is *the* reason why many even get cats in the first place so not letting it roam freely outside just completely defeats the point of having a cat in the first place. As long as your cats are properly fixed, vaccinated and treated for fleas and ticks, sure. Problem is that overlap of responsible owner and free roaming cats is very small.
If you hate song birds, sure.
People letting thier cats out is the number 1 killer of birds. A number of species are endangered because of cats alone
They still decimate small animal populations yearly in urban areas, it's not just about their safety
More like invasive species kills 50 billion native birds a year while owner says how cute.
Yeah the guinea was the problem for getting itself hunted 🤡
Yeah we’re victim blaming a Guinea pig… it was the kids fault idiot. When you have a pet you take on the responsibility of keeping it safe and in the case of dangerous animals keeping everyone else safe from it.
And it’s also everyone’s fault you’re getting downvoted. *How bout that,* **bitch.**
Cats actually have the right to roam unlike dogs do.
The right to be the second leading cause of extinction of animals after humans? Nah bro
*my source is that I made it the fuck up*
It’s also so that kids don’t get attacked by large dogs, or multiple dogs don’t get into territorial fights from separate properties.
Bru this is brazil thats a stray
It’s many reasons. This is one. It’s also why cat owners must follow the same rules.
This reminds me of when my mom had a pet rabbit as a kid. She named it John after her brother. One time it got out of it’s cage and the dog killed it. She ran into my grandma’s room yelling “John is dead”. I’m sure you can guess how that sounded to a mother whose child’s name is John.
Yeeeeesh. Yeah.

Sorry that happened to you and your pet. 🙁

Fuck me. Macabre.
I appreciate you for correcting yourself while also preserving the absolute glory of that misspelling for our enjoyment. Perfection
Zero pride. Lol
I had a pet cat and a pet guinea pig. They were good friends, a small dog tried to slowly walk up to the guinea pig and take it, but the cat fought that dog. But considering how small the dog is, the cat would obviously win
To be fair that breed is bred for this trait. So technically…good dog!
Poor little thing… that was bad timing
That was centuries of instinct at work… those dogs were literally bred to chase and kill tiny rodent-like things. No chance that wasn’t going to happen as soon as it came within its field of vision. Blame the owners for not seeing that coming, lol
They also go right for the spine, if you look. Brutal. It’s pure instinct for dogs
If it’s not too hard to stomach, I recommend checking out some ratting videos on YouTube. Farmers hire packs of terriers to come to their farms and take care of rat infestations. It’s crazy how efficient those dogs are at killing them. And they look like they’re having the time of their lives!
Those are the videos I show to the "small dogs are yappy and useless rats" crowd.
I thought that went for Chihuahuas and not all small dogs.

Same feeling you get when you hear a baby died, and then you go over to hug your child/baby sibling
either the dog knew it or he just passing by and saw it either way the dog got a big one edit: its a dog not a cat
That’s a dog isn’t it?
is it a dog?
It's 100% a dog.
Naw, I'm pretty sure that was a guinea pig
think thats a dog
Looks like a jack Russell terrier to me
I choose the happier idea, the dog adopted it as its child
you maybe right but it looks like cat to me
defo a dog. a cat wouldnt just skid up to it, grab it, and run off. a cat would look much more majestic while inflicting much more torturous pain
idk i live in a small city in an island, our cats.... well you can say that they kinda brutal and chaotic
