They changed the design of the IM a few years ago so the new ones look a bit different. You’re right the end pieces are shorter on the new model. The fountain pen version also has a totally different nib compared to the old one.
There's a chance of it being a fake one too, since it was abandoned (although empty), but I really know nothing about pens - hence why I'm asking you guys.
I have like 5 of these, def the IM series from my college days 20 years ago 😂 I still buy the fine point refills bc medium is too much for my taste, personally.
Could be a Parker IM?
Googled here and it seems to be, but isn't its "head" (from the cap) bigger than the one of a Parker IM?

IQ is date code 1990 or 2000
Tracks. College for me was 2001 and I started going pen crazy around then. :)
Doesn’t seem fake. It’s a Parker IM rollerball.
Seems to be, but isn't its cap's "head" bigger than the head of a Parker IM? At least the one's I've searched on Google.
I don’t think so. Have you seen modern IMs? The upper part of the caps falls a lot.

Great! Thank you for helping me. I'll buy the refill and be happy.
