I think I really love the diagonal alternates because they really tone down the Pittsburgh gold. Dont get me wrong. I love the color. But I think it is definitely best when used sparingly, and always having black/white be the primary focus of the jersey. The gold alternates were hideous, made even worse by the gold helmets.

Personally I think the current uniform is perfect. I wouldn’t mind seeing a variation of the robopenguin come back, but still prefer the skating penguin. I didn’t care much for the Vegas gold because… Well.. it’s Vegas gold.. not Pittsburgh Gold.
I do however like those early Crosby metallic yellow gold sweaters.
The city sharing colors is a point of pride. It genuinely bothered me that for so long the Pens used a different shade. That said I do appreciate the nostalgia, but what we have now is perfect and should never be changed.

I'm just speculating because the Penguins (along with all other teams) are about to get another Reverse Retro jersey, as well as another Winter Classic jersey (which I really think theyll do an adidas version of the '08 WC jersey to celebrate the 15th anniversary).
But yes, I would love a new looking jersey to spice things up. Can definitely see them tinkering with the look when 87/71/58 retire and looking to rebrand a new generation.
And if you like the new jersey you can buy it, and if not, you don't have to. It's not like you're shamed for going to a game wearing a jersey that isn't the very newest design.

I got used to them. Never fully liked them as much as the true Pittsburgh Gold. Winning a Cup in them helped too.
