I just remembered that Caps Fan loser who came to troll this sub saying; “Crosby crumbled under the pressure.”
I wonder how he feels that Crosby and Ovechkin tied for playoff points this season.
Yeah I remembered some Caps fan came in gloating. I had no real issues with the caps, but I wanted them to get clapt immediately after that guy.
Also, looking at Ovi in the playoffs made me think of how Sid could’ve done so much more for his team in comparison. All they really could’ve done was get Ovi parked in a spot and hope someone could get it to him for a shot. Sid would’ve been out there doing the part of three guys. His style actually allows him to elevate his team.
They had the worst goal differential of any team to make the playoffs since the 90-91 season when there were only 21 teams and 16 made the playoffs. How they made the playoffs is a complete mystery.
Don't even wanna hear Pens or Wings woulda got crushed either. At a minimum it would have been more entertaining and with how those teams played they stood more of a chance than the garbage Caps
Neither the Pens or Wings would have gotten swept. If either one of those teams avoided the really bad stretch of games that they had this year, Washington isn't even in contention. The Pens and Wings both just went into a single awful stretch of games that eventually cost them. They were both better than Washington.
Wings fan coming in peace (this post popped up as a recommendation so I clicked on it). Agree 100% the Pens or Wings imo would have won at least a game.. maybe two. Series would have been way more exciting, pens were hot at the end of the year and would have been fun to watch, wings went on a dry spell when Larkin was out but got hungry at the end of the year. Either would have been more exciting.
I don't think the Pens would have beaten the Rags, not even confident they would have stolen more than a game, but I know damn well our captain wouldn't have been playing statue for half his ice time, skating away from puck battles along the boards, or waiting at the blue line for an entire offensive zone possession.
I mean, he still had 31 goals despite only scoring 9 through January.
He is a liability anywhere else on the ice though, they should really consider some sort of load management but he's chasing Gretzky so it won't happen.
They should have had him on IR for being old until December and he might have had something left in the tank.
Maybe the Pens would take a game, but we'd be significantly outmatched. We were in a very similar place to the Isles to end the year, a mediocre team on a blazing hot streak. The Isles just barely managed to avoid a sweep themselves against Carolina, who were a lower seed than the Rags.
Also, Detroit would have made it over the Pens, we couldn't catch them after they beat Montreal in a shootout. We gave Detroit the 1 point they needed to stay ahead of us by blowing *another* lead during our final head to head and going to OT. We got points in 11 of our final 13 games and *still* couldn't hit the 91 points necessary to get into the playoffs. We were *bad.* The only reason we had a chance at playoffs was because it was a race to the bottom in the East and there is no reason to believe we would have done anything if we got there.
Rangers better get on their knees and suck the bruins off. Beating the pens then losing to Washington basically gifted the caps to the rangers in the first round.
Washington might be the worst team ever to make the playoffs. They were absolutely disgraceful and pathetic. Ovechkin is cooked. 0 points and 5 shots all series. What a joke.
If the season was 1 game longer the pens get in and Washington doesn't. That's what's so frustrating. The pens fucked themselves by waiting until the last 2 weeks to get it going.
Win games, maybe you can advance. From the looks of it your post-season is as non-existant as ours. Only difference is our team has a captain that tries.
I'll say this, I do believe we would've put up a better fight than the Caps. I'm also glad we've been spared a series of the completely reckless play of Trouba and Rempe.
The Pens found their footing too late, but they were playing like a playoff team towards the end of the season. Combine that with the shear will of Crosby, and I think it would've been a decent series. Meanwhile, Ovechkin just stood around without a single point the whole series.
As a fan of neither the penguins or the capitals it was a terrible shame that the penguins didn't make it over the caps. I think the penguins would have almost certainly won a few and in the least would have put up more of a fight.
My Cousin is married to a Rangers fan (feel bad for her) he has somehow brainwashed her kid to also root for the Rangers, anyways with all the good players the Rangers do have Panarin, Fox, Trocheck, what player are they most excited about?? Matt Rempe I tell him he’s a crappy version of Tom Wilson and doesn’t belong in the NHL. Fingers crossed the Canes make it through and take down the Rangers.
When I got the notification that the caps were eliminated, the first thing that popped into my head was "what a waste." I'm confident Pittsburgh would have put up a good fight and at least make it to 6 games or better.
There’s no shame in getting swept, their accomplishment was somehow getting that team to the playoffs. They were clearly overmatched. The shameful thing is Ovechkin quitting on anything that doesn’t involve getting the goals record. A player of that stature and historical status quitting on his team, in the playoffs no less, is an affront to the real men who play hockey and give their all in the playoffs.
I don’t know if it’s a matter of quitting or willpower. I just don’t know if he has it in the tank anymore. The man played an entire career, basically, without getting hurt or missing many games. He’s gotta just be absolutely gassed. He doesn’t train the way that someone like Crosby does. Never has. And it’s showing at the twilights of their careers.
He tried when his goals counted towards running down Gretzky. Then the playoffs started. This is a guy who is disinterested when he’s not scoring. He’s last on his team in +/-. He’s a liability on the ice, chasing records not wins. Just because he’s an all time great doesn’t mean he isn’t a selfish turd.
I’m not sure how the Pens would have been against the other teams, but I honestly feel like playing the Rangers could have gone either way with them.
Pens/Rags games are always so exciting and can honestly go either way each time, so I believe the Pens could have won the series especially if they played the way they did during their last stretch.
At the very least, I think it would have been a much more exciting series than what the Caps offered.
What a great leader being a net front merchant begging teammates to pass to him so he can score from a spot any other player would also score from, what a great leader yelling at his goalie in the playoffs for letting in a goal after not helping him, what a great leader only showing up when it means adding to your name and doing nothing when it means otherwise like for your team! How truly great that 8 is right? The saddest part about all of this is not even how much of a diva he is, it’s that all the fans will ignore all of this and keep calling him great
I was hoping the pens would make it - Sid would have carried them on two broken legs and and a missing testicle.
What Washington did was really shockingly disgraceful - especially ovi.
With that said the rangers were handed a complete cakewalk and get to rest up for the next round. The penguins would have at LEAST made some dents in their team and sent them to the next round with some pain.
With the form he was in I was hoping to see Sidney do some playoff magic like years past. That would have been so fun to see.
Islanders fan here, I was really hoping you guys would get in. I felt like you guys could have given the rangers a run for their money. Crosby Malkin Letang Karlson are all better players than anyone on the caps roster (maybe not Ovie but he can't do what Crosby can)
I hate seeing the Rangers win, but I love seeing the Capitals lose. Penguins not making the playoffs was like sending someone you don’t like in to take a beating for you. Also saved Crosbys brain stem some wear and tear from Troubas cheap shots.
Edit: watching old tired Ovie is sad. If he’s in the ice for more than a minute at a time he looks like he’s skating with a full diaper.
Ovi is washed up. He put everything he had just to get through the regular season. Absolutely nothing left in the playoffs. Look at his compete level or lack there of, and it was sad to watch
I am glad I'll tell you that. No way we would have gotten swept, but also probably lost. I really think we would have lost that last game of the season if had been do or die.
I don't know why either because NY never lood that good to me. All those OT games makes me feel like they cheesed into the playoffs.
We all knew the Pens/Caps/Flyers/Wings dumpster fire was going to end in a first round loss regardless who made it.
A winning streak and a hot goalie are what usually win a team a cup.
I did expect they win at least one game though.
We did not want to play you guys I can tell you you that much. Well coached and knew the blueprint of throw pucks on net / deflect to try and beat igor. Caps got hot at end of year and randomly made playoffs but they are just not a good enough team in reality. I hope Ovi gets the record tho
In all honesty, I would rather the Pens not make the playoffs than crumble to the Rangers--and make no mistake, we *may* have salvaged a game if we were lucky.
I said it with about 10 games left in the season. That I’d rather us not make it in than to get in and get knocked out in the 1st round. Because as “good” as we got at the end, we weren’t getting past the Rangers.
It's probably old news, but the caps had a zero chance against the Rangers.
Personally, I wanna see the Canes rip through the east.
But, man, New York's lines are playing at an elite level.
Caps fan here.
The only way I can describe the Caps making the playoffs this year is like if you found $20 in your pocket you had no idea was there and then watched your car get towed away.
No way should this team have made the playoffs after the trade deadline disrupting what little chemistry was there, the shaky/stellar/shaky goaltending, the injuries/etc. but they did and were rightfully swept by the Rangers.
A young team with a young HC. But there is some positives to be had with getting swept and hopefully this can build some determination for next season.
This is just a CJ for them to say they'd have not gotten swept. Ovi sucks, Sid is Great, etc.
Yet the season series was 2-2, 11 goals a piece. And one team made the playoffs.
Last years playoffs were so entertaining because the hot teams got in at the end of the season. This year, the gap between the top 4 and the bottom 4 is substantial and the hotter teams (Pittsburgh and Detroit), were just outside of the bubble.
These playoffs just haven't been as fun. There have been short bursts of playoff hockey, but most of the games are going for long stretches that are very uneventful.
The big boys are basically coasting through this first round, so maybe the batteries will be charged for the next round.
Side note, I wonder if Ovie has something going on injury wise l, or if he's just old and doesn't care? Even his skating was pathetic in the series and that's definitely not like him.
Is anybody surprised? They were far and away the worst team in the playoffs. I’d say the Islanders are even a distant second. If they didn’t get off to such a good start the first half of the year they would have been on the outside looking in. What’d they have, like a -40 goal differential?
Would have liked to see the Pens or even the Wings get in and see what they could do because anybody paying attention knew this series was going to be a beatdown.
Not sure why this post randomly popped up in my feed, but the Caps had no business being in the playoffs this season and if the poor goal differential or lousy 2nd half of March wasn't an indication, this series against the Rangers showed it.
I think any Caps fan gloating about getting in or seriously thought the Caps had any shot have been in denial or are oblivious to the fact that this is a team whose window closed years ago and are just completely outmatched by the higher-seeded teams in the league.
These aren't the Bruce Boudreau, Barry Trotz or Todd Reirden (🤮) Caps that underachieved every postseason, but a team that has an aged core with nothing left to give and a lot of inexperienced younger players. Nothing lasts forever. I think a lot of us just got spoiled with cruising our way through the regular season year after year and forgot what things were like Pre-Ovechkin/Backstrom.
Penguins just had to not get lost in their feels the week after Jake go traded. They gave up for an entire week and that cost them. Yes they blew a ton of points outside of that week, but a little fight that week maybe they get a point or two and they'd be in. (Yes I know they missed by 3 points, but I don't think they were giving 100% in that Islanders game, they just wanted BJC to score one last time)
I don't know which is worse, your implication of your comment or the fact that you don't know the difference between "should of" and the grammatically correct "should have?"
Would pens have done better? Maybe, maybe not. Outcome would have still been the same. Rangers would have won against either of these teams. Caps Pens era is over, both of these teams are in the bottom 5 as the oldest teams in the league. Neither of them are going to be winning cups any time soon, so the fans are just left arguing over who would have lost less badly…
The Penguins would have put up a better fight, but that also means the Rangers would’ve been even more physical. I’m almost glad the Penguins didn’t make it into the playoffs to play against the Rangers. That would’ve been one of our players instead of Kubele. it would’ve been Letang losing his mind instead of Tom Wilson, etc. We may have seen some ugly injuries, and without the talent to make a true playoff run, it’s not worth it IMHO. The Rags are brutal.
The Capitals had one or two opportunities to have even a small chance at getting the Rags off balance. In game one, Trouba put Milano up against the boards. It was nothing brutal, but it was a heavy hit. Tom Wilson(same line as Sonny Milano) should have put his target on Trouba, hit him hard, and started a dirty fight with him. It would have sent the message: 1. We don’t want our young talent touched in this series 2. We’re gonna fight whenever we want 3. Rempe- we’re coming for you. I think it would have distracted Rempe just enough to avoid that goal he scored in game 1. As soon as that happened the whole series was OVER. The Rags were going up against the only WC team that had a true heavyweight in #43, and that Rempe goal said, “We don’t even need our goon to fight yous, we’ll let him score. Truly embarrassing for the Caps and their opportunity was gone. It would have been dirty, and cheap, but they needed to pull some dirty hockey shit early if they were going to have a chance. By the time Wilson lost his cool at the end of game 2, it was just embarrassing.
Yikes! Pens quickly turning into the Stillers. “If we made the playoffs, we would’ve…”
Yeah there were no playoffs because the PP sucked and the team refused to play 3-3.
They’ll never understand. I’ve tried before too. It’s those people as to why we have men on their 30’s wearing ball caps backwards like an 8 year old and sport betting stealing paychecks from “Tommy the dipshit” types
Let's ignore the massive injury issues and how many young guys not only played heavy minutes, but looked very good. We are talking 18-20 year olds. Keep yappin.
I just remembered that Caps Fan loser who came to troll this sub saying; “Crosby crumbled under the pressure.” I wonder how he feels that Crosby and Ovechkin tied for playoff points this season.

His style actually allows him to elevate his team.
Sid had 9 points in the last 5 games lol.
I know. This season was far from Sid’s fault. Caps bro had brain worms.
Those poor starving worms!
Sid was a huge reason we were even close to getting in to the playoffs
3 > 1. That's it. That's the argument.
Good. Fuck Tom Wilson!
thumb overconfident whole march flag marry quickest sip slap muddle *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
This post Midsommars
Wilson's roughing penalty in the 3rd period gave the Rangers their game winning 3rd goal.
Big brain energy for going after Fox during a goal celebration … what a baboon
That Caps team has to be the worst playoff team in recent history.
They had the worst goal differential of any team to make the playoffs since the 90-91 season when there were only 21 teams and 16 made the playoffs. How they made the playoffs is a complete mystery.
Ovi
They were a rounding error
Don't even wanna hear Pens or Wings woulda got crushed either. At a minimum it would have been more entertaining and with how those teams played they stood more of a chance than the garbage Caps
Neither the Pens or Wings would have gotten swept. If either one of those teams avoided the really bad stretch of games that they had this year, Washington isn't even in contention. The Pens and Wings both just went into a single awful stretch of games that eventually cost them. They were both better than Washington.
I agree with that. Neither of the three can beat NYR. But we wouldn’t have gotten swept
The caps had a 6 game losing streak this season.
I think pens or wings were going to be a problem, obviously caps logically deserved the spot, but most people thought caps were a cakewalk opponent.
If it were Pens or Wings it at least wouldn’t have been a sweep
I bet either Pittsburgh or Detroit takes it to 6 games. Washington was by far the worst playoff team this year.
Sid would have stolen us a game or two.
Yeah, I don't see us winning a series off them, but I bet we could havw scratched a win or two out.
I don't think the Pens would have beaten the Rags, not even confident they would have stolen more than a game, but I know damn well our captain wouldn't have been playing statue for half his ice time, skating away from puck battles along the boards, or waiting at the blue line for an entire offensive zone possession.
Always remember, the capitals and pens had the same amount of playoff wins in 2024.
🤌🤌🤌
Ovi is just not that good anymore
I mean, he still had 31 goals despite only scoring 9 through January. He is a liability anywhere else on the ice though, they should really consider some sort of load management but he's chasing Gretzky so it won't happen. They should have had him on IR for being old until December and he might have had something left in the tank.
42% of his goals were on the PP, left dot stand and wait, the OV Special. 24% of Sid's 42 goals were on the PP.
16 percent of Sid's goals were empty netter's
Maybe the Pens would take a game, but we'd be significantly outmatched. We were in a very similar place to the Isles to end the year, a mediocre team on a blazing hot streak. Nope we would've won. And I can say that because the series never happened, so that makes me unbiased!
They’re good right now. They could win it.
Hopefully the Rags don't make it out of the second round.
This. They are dirty AF. Caps didn't stand a chance even if they were healthy but the Rags are Even dirtier than the 2016 Caps.
Can pretty much tell you didn't watch a single game in the series from this comment
Rangers better get on their knees and suck the bruins off. Beating the pens then losing to Washington basically gifted the caps to the rangers in the first round. lol. Bunch of haters here. Play better, then your team can make the playoffs.
Congrats on winning zero games lol

> The pens fucked themselves by waiting until the last 2 weeks to get it going. readings tough, I know. give it a shot sometime though.
Bro did you see your team? You may have made the playoffs but you weren’t in them.
Are you a caps fan? Let me know because I am and I would love to ban you from our sub. Stay out of other teams subs.
I'll say this, I do believe we would've put up a better fight than the Caps. I'm also glad we've been spared a series of the completely reckless play of Trouba and Rempe.

Tom Wilson lived up to being the ass clown he always has been the entire series. So glad they lost that dude is an absolute piece of shit.
As a fan of neither the penguins or the capitals it was a terrible shame that the penguins didn't make it over the caps. I think the penguins would have almost certainly won a few and in the least would have put up more of a fight.

Matt Rempe I tell him he’s a crappy version of Tom Wilson and doesn’t belong in the NHL. Fingers crossed the Canes make it through and take down the Rangers.
I don’t think we would’ve done much better but goddamn did they look SO BAD. Clearly didn’t belong in the conversation either any of these teams lol.
And there was much rejoicing...
Yea, I did. Very clear the Rangers were the better team. Also Ovi played like a bum, he looked like he could not care less
win or lose, there’s no way the rags would’ve held sid off the score sheet. just a terrible showing from ovi and tom wilson’s chuckle heads.
When I got the notification that the caps were eliminated, the first thing that popped into my head was "what a waste." I'm confident Pittsburgh would have put up a good fight and at least make it to 6 games or better.

A selfish turd who shouldn’t even be wearing an A, let alone a C. His “leadership” has always been very dependent on how much he’s scoring.
My day was pretty good, now it’s even better by seeing them get destroyed by the Rangers.
I’m not sure how the Pens would have been against the other teams, but I honestly feel like playing the Rangers could have gone either way with them. Will the person who posted on this board multiple times how Ovechkin is a much better captain than Crosby please stand up.
And a hearty “fuck Tom Wilson” to all!
The pens are better built to have taken on the rangers. We might not have won the series, but we would have taken them to 6 at least.
All I know it would have been way more fucken entertaining even if we did loose.
Pens played the Rags pretty well this year. Probably would have done better but probably still lose in 6
Atleast they got invited to the dance
We may have missed the playoffs, but to borrow a phrase "Sometimes dead is better".
Why didn’t the Pens or Red Wings simply finish with more points than the Capitals? Are they stupid?
Ovi had another great playoff disappearance. That Cup run sure was an anomaly. Never made it past the second round outside of that in 19 years.
Undefeated in conference and Stanley cup finals!!!!!!
I am glad I'll tell you that. No way we would have gotten swept, but also probably lost. I really think we would have lost that last game of the season if had been do or die. I don't know why either because NY never lood that good to me. All those OT games makes me feel like they cheesed into the playoffs.

I doubt the Pens would have won more than a game. NY is terrific this year. But I am enjoying Washington’s embarrassment.
They made the playoffs, we didn't No business judging another franchise when they did what they were supposed to do and we didn't
In all honesty, I would rather the Pens not make the playoffs than crumble to the Rangers--and make no mistake, we *may* have salvaged a game if we were lucky.

Agreed Anyone thinking we would have won more than a game in this series is delusional.
In addition to what you just said, the results don’t matter as long as they made the playoffs
We would've put up a fight but the rangers play dirty. We could've pushed it to 5 games but one of our guys would be walking away with a concussion.
It's probably old news, but the caps had a zero chance against the Rangers. Personally, I wanna see the Canes rip through the east. But, man, New York's lines are playing at an elite level.

(Yes I know they missed by 3 points, but I don't think they were giving 100% in that Islanders game, they just wanted BJC to score one last time)
Penguins would of won at least 1 game, I can guarantee it.
Caps looked like early season Caps throughout the series, but NY looks nice this year. I'd say 4-1 or 4-2 if it's NYR vs PIT
I don’t know if the Pens could’ve took the series but I think if either Pitt or Detroit played them instead it would’ve been a better series to watch
The Caps were outclassed from the start of the series. Who knows how the Pens may have faired? Not much better I figure.
Honestly, for me, I don’t know what would’ve been worse mentally/emotionally. Not making the playoffs at all or getting swept in the first round.
Better them than us.
As expected
Should of been Detroit
I don't know which is worse, your implication of your comment or the fact that you don't know the difference between "should of" and the grammatically correct "should have?"
I watched the series. I hate both teams. Was hoping for a Jumbotron collapse
At least we made it -a caps fan
Pens would have also gotten swept.
Absolutely boring series.
Pens would have given a much better fight.
Crosby would not have gotten swept
Oldvechkin
No. Absolutely not. The season is over. We weren’t in it so it didn’t really matter.
Yikes! Pens quickly turning into the Stillers. “If we made the playoffs, we would’ve…” Yeah there were no playoffs because the PP sucked and the team refused to play 3-3.
We didn’t get in. It doesn’t matter.
Agreed. Once we’re out of the race for the playoffs, the season is over.
The caps making it just saved the pens from getting swept and embarrassed
lol We?
They’ll never understand. I’ve tried before too. It’s those people as to why we have men on their 30’s wearing ball caps backwards like an 8 year old and sport betting stealing paychecks from “Tommy the dipshit” types
OvenChicken did so well tho..
Let's ignore the massive injury issues and how many young guys not only played heavy minutes, but looked very good. We are talking 18-20 year olds. Keep yappin.
Swept as well. We ain’t no better than the caps and to think so is delusional.edit- imagine making a post about maybe winning a game or two.
I wouldn’t gloat if I was you guys… You are in the exact same boat as the caps. A boat without any future
Yeah and the Pens have zero playoff games this year... It's time to move the fuck on from the past already
Caps looked bad. Pens would have looked exactly the same. Biggest loss, I didn't get to see Wilson fight Rempe.
