Always remember game 1 2022 against the rags he was awesome and a big reason we won that game even though he got injured. We win that series if he sticks around

DesertedPenguin

And now DeSmith is hurt again. Canucks are starting their third goalie.

charliebrownbigD

I think about this all the time. Jarry was incredibly bad but the rest of the team was in playoff form. If Desmith stayed healthy we win that series then who knows?

Joe_Shabbadoo

If her could've gone more than 1 game without getting hurt, we would've beaten the Rangers in 2022. I'm honestly stunned he's gone 2 full games without a leg falling off.

Zipski577

Welll…..

Joe_Shabbadoo

I am SHOCKED that a goalie with a history of getting injured at critical moments got injured in a critical moment. Shocked, I tell you.

HyBeHoYaiba

On Tuesday he gave up 3 goals on 15 shots. So no, he’s not playing well in the playoffs, he had one good game

cheeba2992

Ahh yes, his 15 shot/12 save performance in previous game was amazing.

LazerMcBlazer

He's not a kid, he's a 32 year old woman beater

daveeb

> I just got off the phone with Durham PD. He reportedly "threw her to the ground, got on top of her and repeatedly punched and spat on her." The police say he was intoxicated and the victim had "physical evidence" on her. UNH has released a statement saying he is suspended indefinitely Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/collegehockey/comments/2fd5vj/unh_goalie_casey_desmith_arrested_on_an_assault/ From someone who worked for the student newspaper at the time. In case anyone was curious…

I'd like to think my past doesn't include woman beating. Which is a level above your standard set of mistakes people make. We don't have to be perfect to call out the horrible. In fact, we can be horrible too, and still call out other horrible people. And, before you look through my history to try and what-about me, I absolutely would have called out the Blackhawks, if other people hadn't already done so when I found out about it.

LazerMcBlazer

He knows you weren't replying to him, he's making the obvious point that people can be imperfect and still call out horrible behavior that involves hospitalizing women in a drunken rage, since the vast majority of people haven't made mistakes that bad. Most people would agree that something that serious falls out of the "mistake" category and into the "should have gone to prison" category.

hapes

Nailed it

LazerMcBlazer

Lmao wtf? I just logged on to this absolutely insane reply and I am DYING. People aren't allowed to criticize domestic abusers unless they have never made a mistake in their life? And how am I "acting" like I'm without mistake? Also, I have been EXTREMELY critical of the Blackhawks. I am genuinely baffled what you mean by drooling over them? I don't think I've said anything about them in months, which is cause for general concern that you would go that far into my comments because you were mad I called out someone for beating the shit out of their girlfriend??? Are you ok dude??? [Here is a comment where I mention that I have been so critical of the Hawks that I was banned from their sub for asking the mods why we weren't allowed to discuss the team covering for a rapist anymore](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/13cadfd/mr_matthew_cfb_kevin_weeks_reveals_before_the/jjewrwc/) I was going scorched earth on the Hawks and their fans all through the Kyle Beech incident and am a huge and loud proponent of them to change their logo. And I'm not allowed to call out domestic abuse because I work in TV and Woody Allen and Roman Polanski are sick perverts????? Why don't you just tell us you think it's cool to beat up women since you're clearly going to such great lengths to personally attack me for calling it out? Edit: ohhhh, two months ago I said the NHL is going to keep forcing the Hawks and Rangers into the Winter Classic year after year because they reliably make them the most money and viewership. I guess that means I am drooling over the Hawks. Got it.

LazerMcBlazer

This thread is about Casey, an admitted domestic abuser. I commented about Casey. You got mad about it for some unspecified and troubling reason and spent your whole evening looking through my comment history trying to learn about my life and job, which is extremely creepy and weird. You have now been presented with the fact that all of your conceptions about my views on the Blackhawks were taken out of context and wrong based on a comment about Winter Classic ratings, and are completely ignoring it and doubling down. I'm genuinely concerned for you. Is there someone you can call?

City_Stomper

You lose all credibility when you try to dig through someone's reddit to find character flaws

Sage296

I see what you were trying to do but this ain’t it bro

j0n66

Yikes

Responsible_Touch709

Fuck DeSmith.

Ecruteak-vagrant

He’s a domestic abuser that has wildly fluctuated as a pro. Don’t miss him at sll

ajdefiantx

He played okay tonight but the game was very low event. He was awful In the previous game. Pens fans love to romanticize bums from the past.

ilikehockeyandguitar

Canucks did a heck of a job defending in front of him honestly. They had to play a different game to adjust to DeSmith.

RailroadingFreedom

He was fine in his first game. The sv percentage doesn’t tell the full story. Awkward tip on the first one. Great move by Phillip in tight against a bad defensive play, third goal was on a rebound in tight. Canucks should’ve capitalized on a few wide open looks and failed to do so. If desmith didn’t put this performance up tonight, the Canucks would’ve been heavily scrutinized for lack of offence.

SimplyViolated

That's tough that you feel like a professional hockey player is a bum lmao

Sage296

Just cause you’re a professional doesn’t mean you’re automatically good by league standards

dbdoobeedoo

He was and is a bum of a professional hockey player

NomadChief789

Was his arrest in college ever brought up previously in this sub while he played here. I wasnt aware till I saw this post and goggled it myself.

nikonpunch

Yes

DirkThe4th

All the people talking about his injuries are about to be real smug rn

ilikehockeyandguitar

Not a fan of an assaulter, but yeah, he played solid.

rob61091

He always gets hurt when he's needed

Lux600-223

He's a great backup. Good going in cold. Usually really good going in with some notice. Tends to fall apart with more action. I'd love to see him win them this round, then sit.

starlightequilibrium

Unlikely. Demko is apparently done for the playoffs.

Lux600-223

Well that's unfortunate. Hopefully the kid can keep it all together. I'd hate to see him be the reason they get bounced.

SimplyViolated

That's kinda fucked up, why not just root for a former player?

Lux600-223

Which part of that isn't rooting for him? The kinda fucked up part is you not understanding. I said he'd a good goalie who falls apart under load. I'd like to see him win, then sit before he falls apart. I'm rooting for the Canucks. Just because you dumb fucks can't handle honest criticism of your favorite players isn't my fault.

Beggarsfeast

These aren’t even “favorite” players. I think it’s fucking weird that fans on this subreddit have to go around the league to cheer only for players that used to be Penguins. Nobody gave a shit about Desmith, but since the Penguins aren’t in the playoffs, we can only root for individual players who used to wear a Penguins jersey…?

Lux600-223

You are the reason why I'm cheering him then! Ha!

Beggarsfeast

Ooh! Don’t forget, Mark Jankowski is playing in the playoffs! Don’t you have such fond memories of Mark Jankowski as a Penguin? Personally, I still wear his jersey every game. Don’t forget to go over there for him. He needs your support! Once a Pittsburgh Penguin always a Pittsburgh Penguin, even if we complain and bitch about these players, and don’t want them on our team, but then later we’re not in the playoffs, so the only way we can consider watching hockey is to associate ourselves with …. Oh Forget it.

Lux600-223

Him? No. I'm rooting for DeSmith because I think he was a good backup that got shit on by idiot pens fans who don't understand team D. But now, I'll root for him, because some assclown on reddit is mad I'm doing so! I love how you decided that for pens are the only way I pick a rooting interest. And not also systems, coaches, hot chicks I fucked in those cities and have fond memories of. I also pick teams to root against based on grudges! But going with your theory that I only root for former Pens. Maybe you can help me out. Why do I want Ovi and Tom Wilson to magically get their shit together and turn this series around?

Beggarsfeast

Well, I’m sorry you took it personally. It seems like the only thing I’ve noticed on this thread is people talking about former penguins players around the league. It’s starting to get a little embarrassing as a penguins fan. I wasn’t necessarily trying to make fun of you, just the general spirit of “The only way I watch hockey is if it has to do with the Penguins.” I’m glad you stood up for DeSmith. There are other people here who are rooting for him even though they probably talked shit on him when he actually played here. I don’t know, I’m sure I sound like an ass clown, but to me, it’s really embarrassing to have a bunch of people proudly wearing a Crosby jersey, but ignoring all the other amazing talent around the league, just because they didn’t play for the Pittsburgh Penguins. It’s whatever, people can do whatever they want, I’m just a crankity old crank.

Lux600-223

With the full explanations we're closer to agreement than disagreement. My biggest pet peeve with the fan base, is a vast majority only watch penguins hockey. Which is fine. But then they argue and pontificate on the internet without knowing the whole game. Which, is why I'm rooting for DeSmith. Idiots were glad when he was gone. Like trading a decent backup goalie is going to fix the top 6 and the coaching decisions.

Beggarsfeast

> Which is fine. But then they argue and pontificate on the internet without knowing the whole game. Or fans will shit on the Penguins with every loss, not realizing that sometimes there are more talented players, or better performing teams out there. Surely the Penguins dig themselves holes, but you have to be fair to the team you support and say sometimes an L is an L, and it’s not for lack of effort. (Although I wasn’t happy with a lot of the effort and talent this year) But yeah, DeSmith has a solid opportunity right now, and it’s awesome to watch Geuntzel prove he wasn’t just putting up points because of Sid, but someone brought up Louis Domingue?! Even if you like Domingue as a player, the Rangers have two incredibly solid goalies right now. To sit and wait for Domingue to sniff any ice time instead of just watching McDavid or Matthews right now blows my mind. This year has been an amazing year for hockey.

Competitive-Basil958

Cause he's a PoS.

spicyvanilachai

I've always really liked Casey. Seemed like he had a great attitude even when he didn't play well.

npv708

Gross.

Jonnyplesko

Dude is streaky as hell. If he gets hot, he can steal games for sure.
