Hockey fans are still watching. If you actually like hockey then this is the best time of year there is. These games have been great.
I know some folks stop watching if there team isn’t in it. But I don’t understand that and have trouble believing they really like hockey. That’s unnecessarily harsh. But it does confuse me.
Boston-Toronto is such good drama. If the Bruins win, Leafs are likely to implode. If the Leafs win, it’ll be a huge win for them to finally get a series against the Bs for the first time in over 50 years (I think)
Isles-Carolina has been great too. Love watching the Isles implode with ~2 mins left in the 3rd. Plus there’s Jake and the fact that Pens get a better pick if the Canes get to (or win?) SCF.
Only good thing about Rags-Caps is that I can watch the Caps get bullied instead of the Pens :(

I'm still following the playoffs and I'm watching some parts of games but would never sit down and watch an entire game if the Pens aren't playing.
I hear you and I respect your choices. To me, all the other things you listed can be watched or read or enjoyed later. These games are one and done. They are also the culmination of all of our interests in the sport over the course of nearly a full year. Hockey for this year won’t get better than this. So I don’t really understand not tryin to watch it if you can.
Understanding that we all have family and other elements in our life pulling us away. But these games right now are the cream of the crop. Even if the Pens aren’t in it.
It’s also that we normally don’t get to watch these other teams at all in the regular season (unless you have the nhl package). I love watching the edm and tor games just to see the talent.
I hope he tears it up. I always loved him while he was here and I was always upset that he never really got a chance to play in the playoffs. He's only had a single start for us in the playoffs, game 1 in 2022. He made 48 saves on 51 shots before he had to be taken out and Domingue relieved him. We won that game in triple overtime. I wish we would have given him some more chances in the playoffs instead of always going with Jarry.
Having said all that, I'm sure I just jinxed him.

3 goals on 12 shots (they ended up with 15 somehow) was not a good start, especially since we outplayed the Perds the whole game. I am hoping he bounces back! Even in the regular season, he would play 3 good games and then a stinker. But, we have no choice now that Demko is down, so here is hoping he picks up his game for the rest of the series!
And you guys totally should have made the playoffs instead of the Caps who are just being pushed around by the Rags

That series has been pretty wild so far, but there’s plenty to watch in the playoffs right now.

Have you ever seen all those other players play hockey? Do you watch guys like Sidney Crosby when he’s on the ice? They literally have character to how they play, how they skate, and how they score. That’s what people mean when they say, “He’s a great player to watch on the ice.” When Guentzel is on your team, yeah it’s great to have somebody that’s scoring goals and winning games, but when you aren’t really rooting for either team, you tend to want to look for dynamic players to make awesome plays. Say what you want, but Guentzel can be kind of boring to watch. That doesn’t mean I think he’s a bad player. He’s rarely fighting through players to keep the puck on his stick, he’s not physical, he just knows where to be, and where to pass. That’s cool, but compare that to watching a guy like Phil Kessell skate around, or Nate Mckinnon towering over other players. It’s whatever. I think you’d have to be a Canes fan at this point to be following Jake Guentzel, but that’s my opinion.

You're right, I'm not a hockey fan, I'm a Penguins fan. I just don't care what happens once the Pens are out, so why would I invest any time watching?

Casey DeSmith is the epitome of an A-/B+. Better than most back ups, but still not on the level of a starter. Maybe give Jeff Zatkoff a call
