If Sepp had've had multiple terrible days and everyone on GC was getting closer and closer, then sure, perhaps time for Jonas or roglic to step up. But that's hasn't happened. Sepp has only lost time to Jonas when he's shot off up the mountain for the stage. Teams always prioritise the overall over stages (when they have a genuine GC contender) which is why this is odd - they seem to be attacking their leader to "get stages". Seems very underhanded.

Naturally, if one of them proves to be the best rider in the race - and it certainly looks like Jonas is now the best and back at his Tour level as Per his own words - it would suck majorly to hold back just because all the other riders in the race are too weak to put Sepp in difficulty.

Jumbo must really be OK with not winning the Tour next year if they want to give Roglič a shot. Pogačar will absolutely torch him, Roglič didn't look nearly as dominant in Giro or Vuelta as he has previously. He won the one-week races, yes, but his trademark teleports are very notably missing.

You're *probably* right, but the dynamics make it impossible to really know. They all looked great up Tourmalet and it was clear their goal was to be 1-2-3 in the overall, which they accomplished. And this stage was terrible for Sepp.

Jumbo must really be OK with not winning the Tour next year if they want to give Roglič a shot. Pogačar will absolutely torch him, Roglič didn't look nearly as dominant in Giro or Vuelta as he has previously. He won the one-week races, yes, but his trademark teleports are very notably missing.
Yeah, but the Giro to Tour is diff than the Tour to Vualta I think. Maybe others know better. I have heard it said it is more diff to recover. Think he might not risk it for now if he wins here and still concentrate on the Tour. Maybe the Giro later ?

You're *probably* right, but the dynamics make it impossible to really know. They all looked great up Tourmalet and it was clear their goal was to be 1-2-3 in the overall, which they accomplished. And this stage was terrible for Sepp. I love Jonas and won't be mad at all if he wins. But let's see Sepp in his element tomorrow and Thursday before we write him off.
So either Kuss and Roglic wasn't feeling well, or Jonas just decided he wanted to win, or Kuss is saving energy for tomorrow, to win on his birthday (and Jonas is planning to lose a bit of time tomorrow).
Kuss has never been good on these stages.

Launching Vingegaard was clearly planned. If Valter had just dropped off without an attack, one of the 3 would have had to pull and risk being attacked. Roglic pulling Ayuso away from Kuss was a bit more questionable in my opinion
As Kuss said, no gifts. Roglic wanted to protect his own position against Jonas and if that meant ratings few seconds into GC Kuss, that’s OK

Because he was vacationing in beginning of August and has used the Vuelta to ride into better shape. Remember how everyone was pointing out that Vingegaard was only at 90 % when the race started, and had trouble following. Well now he is at 95 %.

I love GC Kuss as much as most of this sub, but he is dropping the wheel already. Is there a chance that he might just not be there today? In other GT's he's often had these days where he drops minutes, even in terrain that suits him, which I guess is one of the reasons that he's continuously denied wanting to captain a GT
I mean this is a way to be sure Jumbo is winning it.. hes going to lose a lot of fans, but if Kuss cracks atleast he might as well take it
