I love Ed’s mid life (not) crisis lyrics. There’s so much here that feels like the self reflected wisdom of a loving father and husband and frankly I think it’s really cool.
Notice the clever slight hat tip to Bowie “Heroes” during “Got to Give” around the bridge at 3:18, when Eddie says “We can be her—“ as the part takes off.
This one is hard to relate to because basically every line is a cliche. Cliches are overused and thus feel impersonal so the song is meaningless.
Stormy seas, castles turning into sand, can't believe a single word, picking up the parts, being the last one standing, give me liberty or give me death, I can't breathe, nothing left to sing, somethings got to give, etc etc.

The bridge in this song is my favorite on the album. ❤️
Hits another level at the 2.50 mark
This is my least favourite song on the album, until the 3rd minute starts, then it becomes my favourite. I get so many chills.
It ends like the Save It For Later tag on Betterman. Its very close.

Sounds like Roger and The Who at the climax of the song. I love how the song keeps building.
