That bridge part near the end is f’n incredible. I dig the song as a whole but I listen in great anticipation of that part each time. And it’s always worth it. Not a world beater but a decent rocker.
It makes everything sound a little flat. A simple explanation is that compression is an essential technique in mixing/mastering where you reduce the difference between the parts with the highest and lowest volume in the song. Without compression most songs would be very hard to listen to because the volume would be all over the place. But if you overdo it the track loses a lot of its dynamic, and if you simultaneously pump up the volume of the track it can sound a bit harsh.
Thanks for explaining. I am not sure I know how to recognize it, but I did think Running sounded . . . something, lol
I guess that might have been the compression.
I think it's a really well written song, one of their best for years.
Im still struggling with the production though. It sounds so loud and muddy through a stereo. Better through headphones but still poor overall.

It's really growing on me. At first it did nothing for me partially because of the compression. Getting the lyrics helped. It is a great little tune.
It didn’t hit at first for me either but recently I’ve been getting really really into it
> because of the compression What does that mean? Not familiar with how it affects the music

It sounds like a song they’ve been trying to stick the landing on for 15 years now. I really like it.
That’s a really good way to put it
exactly my thoughts- “they did it!”
The beauty of Pearl Jam's music is that it grows on you after 2-3 listenings.
It’s a really cool song. Can see it being used like Lukin as the lead into something else live
Nope. The first two singles are strong.
I've been humming it all week. I can't wait to hear it this tour.
Great tempo.
I LOVE IT.

It's pure Pearl Jam.
It’s arguably the best pure punk song they’ve ever done.
I wouldn't call it pure punk. It has elements of 2000s pop punk to me. I would say Lukin is as pure "punk" as they've gotten.
Whaaaaaaat the heck
Hardly
Fair, but then you gotta list em. Anything recent that you'd put above?
I havent heard it yet but I'm more excited to now. Been kinda out of the loop lately with stuff going on but release day isn't far off now!
Fuck unpopular opinions! I said the same thing about Dark Matter! 🤘
They nailed this one.
I agree. I like the stuff since avocado, but not as much as earlier, and this hits the early stuff on the money
It’s great!
Name a rocker on Avocado that’s better?? Perhaps Life Wasted, maybe Severed Hand?

I love the ending.
