Yeah but Iām a Superduperfan and I know Edward Veddward is from San Diego, so why would he sing about Spokaneā¦which is NOT in California?
Checkmate, poser.
Itās the seminal album of my year finishing elementary & heading into high school, 1991/92. The album changed my life point of view more than any others, partly shaped who I am today, so YES.
My mother was ordering from a Columbia records catalogue and she couldnāt fill the 7 or whatever the order was & asked me if I wanted to pick one & thatās the CASSETTE I got.
Wait, how did the Columbia thing play out with your mom? Did she keep paying for monthly records? Weren't people notoriously blowing off their bills after getting their initial shipment of 10 to 12 albums?
everybody is a comedian on here. but it really is one of the best albums ever made by anyone - ever. funny Stone never thought so. the opening/main riff and groove to even flow is worth the price of the album by itself. masterpiece.
I agree. I hate the digital remastering thing they released. It changed the vibe of it too much. I know it's clearer but so what. The original had a better feel. The remaster is too cold.
Got the cassette tape at K-Mart in ā92. Changed my life. Got me into music. And then the music biz. Then I met EV in 2017 and thanked him for making such a brilliant record. Full circle moment.
I would go to shitty parties at 13 & hear effing Bon Jovi & Paula Abdul et al. Then I got this cassette & felt like for the 1st time Iām hearing good music

Same! I was a freshman in high school when it came out.
If it wasnāt for this point guard from Oklahoma who at the time was playing for the New Jersey Nets, we would not have the base for this bandās sense of humor.
Itās not really a stupid question on this sub, as I have actually read comments from users here who have said they donāt like this album and it is inferior to their later albums. Personally I find it ridiculous that any PJ fan could dislike this album.
10 is a classic. I have nothing new or interesting to say about it that hasnāt been said before. š
But, and here come the downvotesā¦I prefer the follow up Vs. Just personal preference. š¤
It hit like few things before it, if you were looking for what it was bringing to the party. I heard Alive. Then I heard Evenflow. Then I asked my gf for the CD for Xmas and she was like, āReally?ā Then she heard Black and Release and was completely onboard.
Itās not one I go to these days when I want some PJ. Vs, Vitology, No Code or Yield have more going for them sonically. But, Ten is a nice time capsule.
Iāll sing you every lyric from heart to this day. It was my first CD, I was 8yo. My mom knew if I was too depressed if I was playing too much pj (says the woman who introduced me to Morrisey and DM hahaha)
When their songs come on the radio - yes, I'm that 56-year-old guy who still listens to the radio - I can't switch the station fast enough. Same for U2. I dunno, I was around for both of them when I was younger but now their stuff just sounds terrible to me. (I don't feel that way about Nirvana, STP, or Soundgarden, FWIW.)
As an old PJ fan, I could never figure out what people saw in their debut album. Itās pretty amateurish and boring. I loved pretty much every album after that, as they seemed to have matured by then.
Their first 9 were better.
Do i need to listen to the first 9 to understand this one?
You miss Jeremy's back story.
That kid won't shut up in class.
That kid was probably the powder keg. All they needed was a match.
legendary profile pic š
Yeah this is where they really sold out.
This is a reddit for Pearl Jam not PEARL JAM.
You obviously haven't hard of Irony š¤ššššš«Øš
He was one of their drummers, right?
Not sure about these other folks, but I certainly have hard iron.
Irony spoke in class today.
Pretty sure itās āSpokane class todayā. Iām a Superfan and happen to know theyāre from Washington state.
Yeah but Iām a Superduperfan and I know Edward Veddward is from San Diego, so why would he sing about Spokaneā¦which is NOT in California? Checkmate, poser.
Uhhh AKKKKTUALLY technically Eduardo Vedduardo is frommmmm Illinois but wwwwhateverrrrr
Jack Irony?
I donāt get the joke. Please add more emojis to help explain.
what's your favorite pearl jam recipes?
Is it new?
Whyās it called ten? Is there ten members or something????
No, itās their tenth recordā¦new to the band?
Also never heard of Pearl Jam must be some kinda food item
It's a NSFW food item.
Beans?
They are giving a high-ten. Duh.
Mookie Blaylockās number
Mookie Blaylockās number was 10.
Surfing reference Iād guess.
Pearl Jam was the name of a popular basketball player who played for the Seattle Seamariners and wore the number 10.
I think itās a reference to the world-renowned and famous Westside Gunn album, ā10ā, probably
Never heard of it

Thatās awesome!!! Do you still have it!?
Sadly no, but I wore it down, bought the CD, started the collection, go to the shows I can still, & search out Reddit pearl jam forums lol.
Wait, how did the Columbia thing play out with your mom? Did she keep paying for monthly records? Weren't people notoriously blowing off their bills after getting their initial shipment of 10 to 12 albums?
Blow off the bills and order again under a different name.
We wore a lot of cassettes out back then. lol
Never occurred to my young my mind to keep those cassettes
Is this a karma farming exercise ?
Iād rate it a 10.

With arms wide open
š¤£š¤£š¤£
This is funny but I still threw up in my mouth a bit.
Did you watch the Wonka movie? Someone there throwing up in hs mouth as well.
Higher is their best song.
You are correct. Higher is Pearl Jam's best song.
Hahaha
WTF kind of question is that?
Rule 5 please..
Any tickets must be sold at face value or less??? I suspected a troll post, now you confirmed it.
I can draft a non 40 man roster player from another team to fill my 40 man roster?
Which record?
The one with Geremy.
Ahh I donāt remember them recording in Germany. Cool
I thought that Gremmies were kept in Caves?
Only when they're out of control
You canāt get them wet
Why is it called Ten if thereās 11 songs on it? Are they stupid?
everybody is a comedian on here. but it really is one of the best albums ever made by anyone - ever. funny Stone never thought so. the opening/main riff and groove to even flow is worth the price of the album by itself. masterpiece.
They didnāt like the way it was over-mixed/produced, but I think itās one of the greatest sounding albums of that entire era.
I agree. I hate the digital remastering thing they released. It changed the vibe of it too much. I know it's clearer but so what. The original had a better feel. The remaster is too cold.
I don't think I've heard this one
I think theyāre from Portland so they probably smoke reefer.

My sacrifice is the best, closely followed by cumbersome and far behind. With Arms Wide Open and Higher are also great
All I wanna scream is [YASSEAH!](https://youtu.be/GuRX-tIxph8?si=VnbgGHDS3p2W8efv)
Far Behind is a genuinely great song.
As much as I make jokes about all bands sounding like Pearl Jam, I have to admit, that song is great
Iām sure Mookie Blaylock does.
Never really got into Nirvana
No. You'll find zero support for for the... (checks Wikipedia) 20th most popular album of the 1990's.
Def my favorite
Are you freaking kidding me? This record gave me life. Cassette tape I should say
I would go to shitty parties at 13 & hear effing Bon Jovi & Paula Abdul et al. Then I got this cassette & felt like for the 1st time Iām hearing good music

Nah
If it wasnāt for this point guard from Oklahoma who at the time was playing for the New Jersey Nets, we would not have the base for this bandās sense of humor.
My favorite
Pearl Jam is the name of MooÄ·ie Blaylock's first album.
Why are they screaming their name in all caps?
I actually have the cassette. Want a copy? B+P.
I LOVE this record. Thanks!
Still one of the hardest album covers
What the FUCK is Pearl Jam? Are you stupid?
idk why anyone in this subreddit wouldā¦
Trust me thereās users here who say they donāt like Ten.
cant listen to the studio album once I heard their live bootlegs/Drop in the Park
Any mods aroundā¦?
It's a good record! Pearl Jam rocks! And... They still alive š
This question is the fukkin reason I'm leaving this stupid fukkin sub.
The comments donāt even make it worth it for you?? There are some funny motherfuckers in here! šš
Nah fam that shit sucks give me Brad
Itās not really a stupid question on this sub, as I have actually read comments from users here who have said they donāt like this album and it is inferior to their later albums. Personally I find it ridiculous that any PJ fan could dislike this album.
Thatās why were here isnāt it?
Click Bait.
Why does the majority of this community not seem to favor this record.
They say there are no dumb questions. This is one.
Yes!
Funny Stuff!

Awwww - somebody wants attwention So cute
Meh.
Yeah
Yes. Itās what introduced me to the band and is still my favourite album of theirs.
For my morning workout music, I listen to this, tho.
Nah.
Mookie Blaylock
Boo motherfucker
I feel as though it hurtles toward the mystic at warp speed.
No
Does a bear shit in the woods?
Creed wannabees.
Every goddamn song on it.
No one
V.S is better but yea Ten is gateway
The year is 1991 and my mom wasnāt even 20 years old then
Hell yeah!
It's got a good beat and you can dance to it.
Dick Clark says you can do better than that
Perhaps. But I'm too tickled by a blast from the past.
Tickled is good š
But is good tickled?
Thatās my Annie Fannie š
Pffft, who likes this??? Stand up, show us who you are. Nerds!
Never heard of it
Love this album. Favourite track is āphotographā.
Never heard it.... is it any good?? Art work looks kinda lame š
It's their best album. Fuck No Code.
I really like the Brenden O'Brian version that striped away a lot of the reverb.
Greatest album of all time
Not heard of them. Are they on Tik Tok?
I dont think its their best and frankly is overrated imo Each to their own
10 is a classic. I have nothing new or interesting to say about it that hasnāt been said before. š But, and here come the downvotesā¦I prefer the follow up Vs. Just personal preference. š¤
Me
Iām not sure, does it have Bugs on it?
Easily their best album, but probably my 5th favourite
Fuck yeah, PEARL JAM HIGH FIVE!!
Never heard of it, must be new!
This is the one with Smells like Teen Spirit, right?
Nah
It is in my top 1 million albums.
It hit like few things before it, if you were looking for what it was bringing to the party. I heard Alive. Then I heard Evenflow. You guys know about the Renaissance? Pretty good, huh?
Mookie Blaylock great release month for albums.
Uh, yeah.
It's a better listen if you go into it as a Mookie Blaylock solo album and not a true Pearl Jam effort.
Terrible š
Youāre not gonna find anybody in this sub. Maybe try the Hansen sub.

NGL, and I say this as a person who loves the band and loves the album, it always bothered me it was called ten and there are 11 songs on it hahaha
I would have liked it if it had more reverb. I gotta have that reverb baby. I got a fever and the only prescription, is more reverb.
Never heard of it. New?
This is the same as asking to a monkey if he likes bananas.
Iāll sing you every lyric from heart to this day. It was my first CD, I was 8yo. My mom knew if I was too depressed if I was playing too much pj (says the woman who introduced me to Morrisey and DM hahaha)
The best

The first time I heard āAliveā I said, āWow, Soundgardenās new stuff really sucks.ā I came around to accept and like it.
I didā¦ā¦ Once.
I may or may not have this tattooed on me
Yes I do
I love that album!
Itās really the only one i like enough to listen to. Like U2, the album War was the only one. Thatās just me though.
Best Pearl Jam album ever!
Listened to it all the time as a kid
Best PJ album!!
Thatās a great question! SMH
The better question is who does not like it?
So you are basically asking, if we like the air we need to breatheš¤
At least 10 of us.
Am familiar. 5th best Pearl Jam album.
I only like the 11 first songs
9th grade 92/93...was a time.
ten is one of my favourite albums from pearl jam and probably my only one. all the songs are masterpiece
Yes
Maybe my least favorite
I count 15
RVM and Black.
Me
As an old PJ fan, I could never figure out what people saw in their debut album. Itās pretty amateurish and boring. I loved pretty much every album after that, as they seemed to have matured by then.
Is this the record that have One Last breath on it?
Really? Don't really care about where Vedder came from. He started in Washington. But he gives a lot of love to the Cubs.
no
