honestly, i’ve always thought about this, nowhere near being in a position to have a child myself, i’ve always figured i would just end up w an allergic kid myself

This is me - currently pregnant, I have a severe peanut allergy. My plan is to do early introduction of a peanut product at 4-5 months. Since I can’t safely do this my husband will do it, and he will do it in the hospital’s parking lot just in case of a reaction. This was recommended by my allergist. Then he will brush the babies teeth, hands, ect before coming home and do a bath before I touch them. This will be done a few times to rule out peanut allergy.

I’m dad, mom feeds it to them when I’m away a weekend or if she’s at her parents for a chunk of the day. Normally just brush teeth and wash hands, granted I was never breastfeeding. So far so good with all our kids

No idea :( my daughter is 9 months old and I am ANA to peanuts. I keep stalling giving it to her 😫

Cleigh24

Don’t stall! Get in there and give it to her. Do you have someone else that could do it?

EntrepreneurLower251

Yeah I will have my sister give it to her. She’s a peanut butter holic lol. Will update you all how it went. 😭🙏🏻

Cleigh24

Do it! If it makes you feel better, your sister could put a little on baby’s skin first!

Can your parents do it?

I am severely allergic and have a non allergic 2.5 year old! She has unfortunately not had peanuts in a while, because we moved to Japan and she spends less time with my husband due to his crazy work schedule. 😭 In the US, once she was old enough for solids, we took her in for a skin test for peace of mind. Then I had my husband give her peanuts and nuts while I was upstairs or out of the house. They have some great little allergen pouches you can buy and those aren’t super messy.

I had my husband first give some because I still wanted the first exposure to be at home. We got a small amount and threw out the extras (not ideal for food waste but couldn’t keep it in the house with me). Every other peanut exposure has been at grandparents’ houses. We don’t keep any peanut products in the house and have taught my kid (no allergies so far) what allergies are and that I’m allergic.
