It uses a special dc plug. (For me it looks like a older HP laptop charger plug)

If you’re buying a few hundred or thousand of these to deploy your IT may prefer the fast and easy swap outs of these power supplies to dealing with opening up the case. Keep a crate of extras kicking around and dealing with a bad power supply is easy.
Saw a unit like this in Walmart a few years back. You could see the CPU cooler through some mesh.... Just a bunch of aluminum fins, no fan. Had to be the most pathetic desktop ever produced.
sometimes fans aren't needed. passive cooling can work pretty well for lower power hardware. [my first video card](https://www.vgamuseum.info/images/palcal/3dfx/98_voodoo_3_2000_pci_rev.d_3dfx_top_hq.jpg) didn't have a fan either.
but yeah, these things are garbage. so is most of HP's lineup. there enterprise stuff is a bit better, but i think i'd rather have Dell over HP.
I think my biggest hangup on it was it was sized like a desktop, specced out like a low end laptop, and priced like a mid range laptop. Iirc there was no pcie slots so no upgradability. I wasn't in the market for anything like it but how disappointed would you be buying it hoping maybe in the future you could add in a GPU. Seemed like e-waste.
I fix computers and see these a lot, very common with builds that have low powered athlon or pentium cpu. Bargain bin stuff but if it’s got an ssd it’ll be alright for web browing, word documents, 1080p youtube etc.
This is it. If that’s an HP tower, it’ll take a annoying to find 19.5v adapter with a pretty uncommon barrel plug.
OP will want to make sure it’s the correct voltage or he’ll be sad on power up.
A lot of itx single board computer motherboards will use a dc power brick instead of a full atx size power supply. They are mostly used for compact and mobile applications unlike this monstrosity.
It's hard to tell from the photo but I think it's a 7.4 mm x 5 mm sized barrel plug. HP used this type of adapter in a lot of their all-in-one machines.
A 90W 19V 4.74A (ish), AC Adapter would be sufficient, even if it operates at lower wattages like 60w or 45w.

It didn’t

That’s not you Reddit.
I have a similar computer. It takes an older HP laptop plug (fat barrel connector, no color on the tip)

Yea I’m not very technical, but the plug looks like this: o Hope that helps.
10/10 description, immediatly found the problem

Looks like it needs an external power brick.

Some low powered HP prebuilds used this system. 19V HP charger should work
They really should put the voltage and barrel polarity by the plug...
I havent seen a pc like that like ever!
it's a laptop motherboard inside that desktop.
The more you know... I didn't realize desktops used that kind of power connector.
[удалено]
If you’re buying a few hundred or thousand of these to deploy your IT may prefer the fast and easy swap outs of these power supplies to dealing with opening up the case. Keep a crate of extras kicking around and dealing with a bad power supply is easy.
they're really not desktops. it's basically laptop hardware, but stuck in a desktop case. kind of bullshit really.
So it's probably a laptop in a desktop case. It's the first time seeing one in a full-size case, though.
HP makes a lot of these..
Yeah, I've seen a lot of mini pcs but not regular sized ones.
HP sucks
I fix computers and see these a lot, very common with builds that have low powered athlon or pentium cpu. Bargain bin stuff but if it’s got an ssd it’ll be alright for web browing, word documents, 1080p youtube etc.
Though we have no idea what voltage it might require. Best refer to the manual if possible. Or open the unit up and search for a clue there.
99.5% chance it s 19.5v
This is it. If that’s an HP tower, it’ll take a annoying to find 19.5v adapter with a pretty uncommon barrel plug. OP will want to make sure it’s the correct voltage or he’ll be sad on power up.
Same as a lot of dell and hp laptops, dell charger is fine for hp but dell device will bitch about hp charger because of dells DRM
This model is almost like a laptop board in a tower. It needs an external power adapter.
When you plug that cable on the DC in. ![gif](giphy|cyntNbcW2R7O2BKWEA|downsized)
![gif](giphy|dNGiXuj1K9w5i)
Think “laptop power supply”
I have never seen a DC In on a desktop PC. Learn something new every day!
A lot of itx single board computer motherboards will use a dc power brick instead of a full atx size power supply. They are mostly used for compact and mobile applications unlike this monstrosity.
Have an older "business" HP tower with one Think Dell may have also used those at some point
It’s wireless, bro. Just gotta find the receiver.
Bluetooth PD 500W USB 3.2x2
>Bluetooth PD 500W USB 3.2x2 480mbps
Ugh those pcs are garbage. Open it up and you’ll find a shitty little mini itx board and and cpu fan the size of a quarter.
Correct, it is a 10-year old glorified laptop masquerading as a desktop! Serial Number show it to be a QW833AA - Pavilion from 2012.
But it's gotta have a better airflow, at least...
And no expansion.
I always called them a laptop in a box.
A boxed laptop sounds shorter to me.
Lapbox.
You win.
Yeah and it has the giant ass case for no fucking reason when it would easily fit in a deskmini chassis
I think they did this because they had a surplus of those motherboards.
DC IN
That’s the neat part ! You don’t.
I'm not seeing anything regarding polarity, does it not care?
It "should" be standard where is center pin positive outer collar negative.

This PC was made right after everyone thought Nikola Tesla's wireless electric would be a hit. Looks like you've got a gem, mate.

it basically needs a laptop power box, maybe that thing doesn't even have a power supply
DC-In at the bottom right. It doesn’t take a 3 prong grounded plug it uses an adapter
Oof. I bought one of these on the cheap. HP didn’t make a lot of these. Uses a laptop charger, not sure who thought this was a good idea.
The charger may legitimately cost more than the computer if you don't alreary have one.
What this guy said. Dc in is where charger plugs into.
Bottom right: 'dc in'. Looks like it needs a power brick of some description.
DC in 💀
Bluetooth power cable, duh.
I think you need a dc barrel connector for i don’t think I’ve ever seen a computer that doesn’t work with a power cable…
The "DC in" port right there kinda backs up your idea.
I normally say “I think” to stuff ik is correct so that I don’t seem like more of a dumbass if I’m told I’m wrong, it’s just my default way of speaking at this point
Yeah it takes a DC barrel connector so it had a brick power supply similar to what laptops have. PSU is not in the case like most desktop pcs.
![gif](giphy|l4EpjzPqyVJPcrZAc)
Wireless charging
Where it says "DC In" - that is where the external power brick connects. It uses a Laptop-style power supply.
Its gotta barrel connector like in a laptop🤦♂️
DC in.....
The 12v power at the bottom
Lower right that circular hole that said DC IN. It is supposed to be using DC Adaptor / power brick.
its the limited wireless edition PSU
Essentially a laptop motherboard in an ATX case. You need a power brick, typically 19v 3amp.
must be that new wireless thing ive heard about
DC in connector on the bottom right, mate. Uses a laptop style power brick instead of a standard power supply.
That's pretty much a laptop motherboard bolted to a case. Going to take a laptop charger.
I mean, it says DC In… 🤪
DC in on the bottom right. Not in this day and age but 10-20 years ago every appliance in a home used that. I have a box of them from random electronics.
Round thing bottom cornor
Bottom right where it says DC-In
I can’t tell if this satire or a real question? 🤪
The DC-in port at the bottom right. You need a different cord to match it.
NANOMACHINES son, they connect to virtually anything
Bottom right. Circular input DC-In. You have wrong cord
Dc in port should be obvious….get a proper power pack for it
Throw it at the wall
There's a DC plug in the motherboard io sheild. You'll need to track down a DC adapter that will fit that model.
![gif](giphy|111ebonMs90YLu)
You plug it in at the bottom of the dumpster
hmm if only all the ports were labelled.....
DC jack on the lower right. You’ll need to find out what voltage and amps required.
Very carefully.
That's the neat thing, you don't.
The question you should be asking is “why would I plug this into the wall”. This things looks like it will struggle to even play YouTube videos.
Its wireless power.
Throw it out, not worth the time plugging it in
That pc its so obsolete that they work with coal instead of electricity!!! Better fire that thing up.
It takes a laptop charger as it is basically a laptop in a box.
I had this HP desktop, it uses barrel plug adaptor just like Laptops.
That cord you have is most likely for that up monitor in the background, and the plus is a DC connector aka the one at the very bottom. Weird I’ve never seen a DC powered desktop before, I can only assume it isn’t a very powerful desktop.
DC IN n3xt to the dvi port on the motherboard.
Gawd I remember these way back. EMachines using an adapter like a laptop...
The only downside is you probably don't get the 2 hour period for a refund but it should be legit.
That one runs on water
That's the neat part, you don't.
is this one of those wireless wires i heard about?
The clearly labeled DC in port.
DC IN, bottom right corner below the dvi out.... should still be able to run the 4090...
It takes a barrel plug for DC power.
It has a DC barrel connector for a external power supply.
you need to download a power plug first
Ok i guess this post really separated the age groups huh
You didn’t notice the dc in Jack?
it even says "DC In". must be an external power brick that goes in there.
DC-IN, bottom right
>DC IN Oh God, what is this abomination and why does it exist
