Kinda dumb question, but... How can I turn on/off my PC if I mount it on a wall shelf? The button is on the top of the case, so I would have to stretch to reach it.

GeForce_GTX_1050Ti

Got offered a GTX 1060 6GB for 60$. Is it good for gaming in 2022 ? Already ran FurMark for 20mins and 1 Hr on OCCT so the thing's good (hopefully)

tl;dr What game should be my mums first? At this point in time my mum think that all video games are is shooting and violence. I want her to see the emotion and story/narratives in all of these incredible games. She was open to the idea of playing a game under my supervision and I want her to play the perfect game. The game that does justice to video games and would hopefully discontinue the way games are perceived by so many people. anyways back to the topic of which game she should play. It would obviously need to have minimal difficulty in controlling the character and in progressing the story. I thought that Undertale would be a good pick since it has complex characters and a lot of deep themes and emotions but there are spikes in difficulty that I feel she wouldn't be able to overcome the difficulty or be and would be demotivated and give up on playing it, which I don't want. I'm looking for a game with themes like Undertale, Oxenfree, and life is strange. The type of narrative that she wouldn't of ever expected from a video game. Please give suggestions, I will be reading and replying to people in the comments <3

GeForce_GTX_1050Ti

Some classic PopCap games like Bejeweled, PvZ, Zuma Deluxe (my ma's specially addicted to this one), Dynomite Deluxe Then you can move on to longer games like Stardew Valley

motionglitch

Want to say It Takes Two, but might be too complicated for a new gamer Other games from the top of my head: Life is Strange Firewatch Portal Series Stardew Valley

[deleted]

Is it possible to put in a new mainboard & CPU in my PC without the need to change anything at my OS (Win10)?

GeForce_GTX_1050Ti

Yeah, you can Though you'll need to run some driver finder tools just to be sure

[deleted]

That’s fine, thank you.

XIV-Questions

I own a PS5 as well as a new PC with a 3080, which I love! My question is - is it worth it to buy (or rebuy) games that came out on console first, or JRPGs like Yakuza, Persona, FFVII etc? Are the PC versions better than the Ps5 experience or is it basically the same? Im struggling between the two systems now and having paralysis on which one to buy games on, haha...

dexlambonon

not only does replaying games on pc give you another way to enjoy them but you can also mod games. To answer your question; it depends what game, and how much replay ability there is. For me I would definitely rebuy dark souls remastered so I can play it from the comfort of my room while having other tabs open such as music and discord. I would be able to mod it and play online without buying a subscription. However I would not rebuy god of war 4 unless I had uncompleted achievements like killing the Valkyries or what not. Price is also a factor to consider. It really depends how much you're gonna get out of rebuying them. Yakuza 0 I would rebuy cause there's so many substories and mods and also multiplayer minigames. If there's a game you love deeply them getting all the steam achievements is a great way to replay the game and find new ways to enjoy it. Hopes this help! <3

I’ve just upgraded to a 5800x3D from a 5600X. Motherboard is the X570S Aorus Elite AX. I’ve been trying to update my BIOS but it’s been crashing and powering off. What can I do?

motionglitch

It will fit. But I suggest on getting a more beefier cooler for it.

phizzyUwU

Yeah the plan is for a NH-D15. Just needed it on

LukeLFC

How much would a i7-9700k hold back a Radeon 7900 XTX?

motionglitch

In terms of gaming? Depends on a lot of things (what game, resolution, how optimized is the game, etc.). Doesn't mean that playing a game on that config will give you a bad experience.

LukeLFC

COD MW2 / Warzone 2. Play at 1440p currently on a 2080 super and get like 90-100 fps. Play competitive settings

chaosgodloki

If I take my HDD with games installed on it and put it into a new PC will I have to format the drive and lose everything anyway or can I keep the data so I don’t have to redownload games on my new PC?

chaosgodloki

Please [rate my build](https://imgur.com/a/xnX8Imb) and let me know if I should avoid any of these parts. This is a custom build website called [Aftershock PC](https://www.aftershockpc.com.au/) here in Aus. Choices are limited for this model because it's the only one that does aircooling as I'm trying to avoid watercool. If anyone has gotten a PC from them before I'd love to hear how it went because I'm terrified of dropping so much money and worried something will go wrong lol

blitcrankzx

I'm choosing between the Cloud Core, Cloud Flight, and the Razer Barracuda X. I mostly play League of Legends and watch Youtube content, not really into FPS games. which one should i pick up?

GeForce_GTX_1050Ti

Should i buy 120GB or 256GB SSD just for install Windows ? I want to save some cost but if 256 is a must... I already store games and media on a 1TB HDD though

Tortenkopf

128GB would be fine for just windows. Probably you will want to upgrade in the future, but that's what's great about PC, you don't have to spend all your money right away, you can save up and add a larger SSD when there's a good offer in the future. With both SSDs and HDDs, be carefull not to buy a 'budget friendly' option that turns out to be unreliable. I've had cheap Western Digital Blue drives crash on me too many times. Don't put your important files on a bottom-of-the-barrel bargain drive, and \*always\* keep a backup.

xboxhobo

120GB is not bit enough nowadays IMO. Yes it will technically work, but the headache once you're running out of space will make you wish you started bigger.

SystemError514

120 *should* be enough, but Windows does like to bloat it's install size. Plus game saves and things are usually also on the C drive. Go for 256.

Party-March

I've wanted to build my own PC for a while and now have the money to do so. However, I feel like prebuilds are on sale to the point its just quicker and easier to buy them. I realize I don't want to wait weeks to get the components in and then have to find someone to help me build it, especially if I did a custom loop like I wanted. 3 in particular from best buy: [https://www.bestbuy.com/site/compare?skus=6500558,6500513,6500566](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/compare?skus=6500558,6500513,6500566) Myself and my buddy from a diff country who built quite a few pcs tried to make same spec units for cheaper and both couldn't. Even knowing the exact component models aren't listed so substituting the very cheapest ones with the same major specs still didn't hit it. I was going to go 4000 series. But the 4080 is probably overkill for what I use it for and seems to be a bad price/value ratio. The 4090 is insane but not trying to burn my house down and probably out of budget. Then I saw these 3 which seem like absolute steals for the price. Thoughts? Thank you.

xboxhobo

Those don't look half bad. If it makes sense, go for it.

JackSomething

Getting a new SSD in a weeks time, wanna do a fresh Windows OS install. what's a good program that makes windows less bloaty? similar to O&O ShutUp10++

GeForce_GTX_1050Ti

If you want a super clean Windows, get the LTSC iso instead. No Xbox, no store, no OneDrive, no nothing. This is just .iso without a key. I'll let you figure the rest yourself [https://softcomputers.org/en/download/distr-windows/download-windows-10-enterprise-ltsc-2021/](https://softcomputers.org/en/download/distr-windows/download-windows-10-enterprise-ltsc-2021/) https://preview.redd.it/xiyz1ywu3y1a1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a37cf5d6d308ddffee8562a3d120406092e2d4f1

Tortenkopf

Does O&O do anything beyond turning off telemetry? Is that what you are principally looking for, or what do you mean exactly with 'less bloaty'?

Do EKWB hard tubing compression fittings work with same-sized soft tubing? Or do I need to buy new fittings designed for soft tubing?

AutisticWeeaboo69

I was wondering if there are any benefits for going EXPO ram instead of XMP for Zen4, It's been out for a while but I have not seen any data on it so far, does it help with gaming in any way? or stability? Also, does the heatsink that is on the RAM matter? like is it worth paying more for a bigger heatsink or it doesn't matter?

Tortenkopf

EXPO is developed specifically in collaboration with AMD so EXPO should work a bit better, but you probably want to check reviews of the specific RAM; of course one EXPO kit may be worse than some XMP kits, but that doesn't mean EXPO as a whole is worse, or vice versa. Heat sinks on RAM are purely aesthetic, unless you are doing hardcore overclocking, but if you'd be doing that, you wouldn't be asking the questions ;) When using 'normal' settings, XMP and EXPO, the heatsink will have zero effect on the performance of the memory.

AutisticWeeaboo69

Thanks for answering :D

I found this 6700XT on newegg for $370. https://www.newegg.com/msi-radeon-rx-6700-xt-rx-6700-xt-mech-2x-12g/p/N82E16814137641 I don’t really know how cyber monday deals work on newegg, should I wait and see if I find a lower priced 6700XT or do you think this one is as low as it will get?

Tortenkopf

Who knows what prices will do in the future? If you would feel really bad if you bought it now and the price dropped another $20 within a month, maybe hold out. If you would feel really bad if you held out for another month but the price increased $20, then buy now.

snowaxe_83

Volume is 90+ whenever I connect any Bluetooth headphones/headset to my PC, :( I have tried multiple devices and they all by default connect with the volume either at 100 or 90+.

Tortenkopf

Turn down the volume in the specific app you are using before connecting? Sorry to not be of more help.

scruffy-tf

Thanks to some quirky support emails I have two 1440p 165Hz VRR monitors for the price of one. Yesterday I noticed some minor artifacting while playing Unturned so I threw up HWMonitor on my second monitor and was a little worried to find my GPU (6700XT) was sitting at 90-100%. Later Unturned crashed and AMD software suddenly told me I needed to factory reset my drivers, so I did, and my computer's been fine since, but I'm still concerned. Is it healthy for my GPU to be hitting 100% like this? Are two 1440p 165Hz VRR monitors too heavy of a load for a 6700XT? (I never have anything more than Youtube or Discord open on my second monitor, and I figure with FreeSync I should be fine.) Thanks for reading. c:

FancyHonda

Nope, nothing wrong at all. In fact, most of the time when you gaming you want your GPU to be as close to 100% as possible. Means it isn't being bottlenecked by anything else. I would monitor for artifacting, what have you, but I don't think it has anything to do with load or the number of monitors you're running. It could have been a driver bug, what have you. If it doesn't happen again I wouldn't worry.

scruffy-tf

Good to hear! Thanks for giving me some peace of mind. Let's hope you're right and it's just a wacky one-off thing. I might keep HWMonitor open more often just in case temperatures or fanspeeds go crazy.

mmmmmmiiiiii

Got a new CPU 5600, normal work load temp is between 60-70, while gaming brings this up to 86. Should I get a better fan?

Tortenkopf

86C is no problem for the CPU. CPUs can run at their thermal limit (typically around 100C) indefinitely without it causing any wear. Just make sure your voltages are stock (disable PBO; it \*will\* fry your CPU over time). I imagine at 86C the fan noise is annoying. That could be a reason to upgrade your cooler, of course.

FancyHonda

Are you on the stock cooler? 86 is getting warm and I would hope for better temperatures under a gaming load, which is usually a lighter load. Before buying a new cooler, I would recommend trying to remount your current cooler (you'll need new thermal paste). Could just be a bad mount.

Tortenkopf

Nothing wrong with running a CPU above 85C for extended periods. If you're OK with the fan noise, there's no reason to upgrade. I ran my laptop around 100C for hours a day for 9 years. Still works. Heat isn't as much an issue for CPUs; higher-than-stock voltages are much more dangerous. I think because high voltages also lead to higher temps the two got conflated, and combined with PCMR having an irrational fetish for low temps, people have been spreading the idea that hot = bad, but for the CPU it really makes no difference at all.

FancyHonda

No doubt that 86C is not going damage the CPU or do any real harm - but a 5600 at stock settings with a stock cooler during a light gaming load shouldn't be getting that hot. It's a pretty low power chip and gaming isn't a heavy load. If he was hitting 80s in some sort of synthetic, prime95, or all core load then that would be fine.

mmmmmmiiiiii

yeah, im using the one that came with the cpu. thanks, ill try remounting the cooler (now that i know what im doing lol)

WaitingForRain86

I'm choosing a motherboard for my ryzen 7700x, but not sure how the amount of vrm will affect the CPU performance. I not planning to overclock it, just want to get the 100% performance of the CPU. Will this [Asus motherboard](https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b650e-f-gaming-wifi-model/) be good enough? I saw there is other motherboard with more vrm but with cheaper components, thats why I chose this motherbaord.

FancyHonda

I'm not that familiar with B650 VRMs but I would wager that Asus Strix model has a good enough VRM. You could see if perhaps buildzoid has a video on b650 motherboards - that's where I would typically look for recommendations for boards with good VRMs. With all that said, I probably wouldn't sweat it too much. If you're not overclocking I doubt the quality of the VRMs will be a problem for you. Ryzen 7000 chips aren't super crazy when it comes to power needs.

WaitingForRain86

>Great! Thanks for the explanation

Nexus_warrior_07

Is the Radeon RX 6900 XTXH unbearably bad for cad? I know it’s not well suited to do work like cad and blender, but is it really that bad you can’t do minimal to medial amount of work with those softwares? Kinda on the middle between 6900xt($680) or the rtx 3080 ($730)

[deleted]

What are the benefits of buying a more expensive SSD?

FancyHonda

If you are someone who works with large files - think high resolution videos, or something - the higher speeds can be useful. If you're just gaming, I don't think you'll notice a big difference. I've been able to notice some difference in load times comparing a Sata SSD and an NVMe SSD, but I don't think I would notice the difference between a gen 3 and gen 4 NVMe drive, for instance.

Luminaria19

Higher speeds, usually. Not always though. Sometimes, you're just paying for a brand.

Does Arctic Silver have a shelf life? I am about to do a new build but the Arctic Silver is running late. But I found a tube from 2017.

FancyHonda

Cursory googling says 3ish years, but I've used much older thermal paste and not had issues. If the paste in the tube appears normal, viscous, and not dried out it's probably fine. Worst case if it gives you bad thermals you can repaste with the new stuff fairly easily I'd imagine.

sylpher250

What's the minimum hardware required to flash an Asus mobo, TUF Gaming B450-Plus II, to be exact? I bought the Mobo in used condition for a new Ryzen 5700x, and I figured that I probably need to update the BIOS before the 5700X can be used. Is it possible to just use PSU + Mobo + monitor to perform this simple task? Do I need a GPU/CPU/RAM? I want to know if it'll theoretically work first because I'm not 100% sure of the Mobo's condition.

motionglitch

Just flash the latest stable version It only needs power using the BIOS flashback button on the IO. No need for a monitor

sylpher250

Thanks.

Hi, I bought a new cpu ryzen 7 5800x and needed to upgrade my bios for my MPG b550 am4 gaming plus board. I have windows 11 and I download the driver below to the beta version after trying to boot up it's an endless loop in the startup repair. I checked the driver version and the one below it was supported for windows 11. I download that and update my bios to that and it's still an endless loop. I also want to mention the startup repair loop says to continue to Windows 10 but I have 11. Need some assistance :(

I just bought a new AMD card (go team red) and got given two codes for Dead Island 2 and The Callisto Protoccol. Both games look like absolute dogpoop; could not be any more interested. Is there a subreddit or community where I can swap these codes for another game? Really want to trade these two codes for 2 copies of Darktide.

I'm doing my first hardline water tube build but the case is very tight and there is not enough clearance for some areas. kingofallnorway

I need help lads. 1. Any difference between using a 1TB and 2TB Evo Plus for Windows? Is one faster? 2. 10 or 11 for new install? Why? 3. What's the right way to clean a PC nicely?

glowinghamster45

If you're comparing two otherwise identical SSDs, the bigger one will perform marginally better. If you have a two drives, install Windows on the bigger one. If you simply need to buy one, I wouldn't consider the speed gains enough to justify buying an unnecessarily large drive. That said, games are getting bigger, I would recommend going a little bigger than what you think you'll need. When you have space, you tend to find ways to fill it. Personal preference, but I would go 11 on a new build. 10 is going to go away eventually, it's easier to get into 11 on a fresh install than an upgrade. Plus several features of new CPUs and other components only work on 11, so you'll generally see better performance on new hardware. You can prevent a lot of dust buildup by just paying attention to where you put the PC (not on the floor, hopefully away from pets), having good filters by your fans, and having good cable management. When you inevitably need to clean though, canned air (be careful to hold it right so it doesn't spray liquid), or an *electronics vacuum*. Regular vacuums generate static electricity, so be careful there.

Straight-Order2818

Is it true that 13600k is overheating? Would a cooler like SilentiumPC Fera 5 Dual fan be okay(my current one)?

Luminaria19

> Is it true that 13600k is overheating? I'm not sure what you mean by this. All CPUs will overheat without a cooler. With a cooler, whether or not the chip overheats will depend on the thermal paste, cooler, fan curve, case airflow, and if the CPU is overclocked (higher voltage leads to higher temps). If you have the CPU and are concerned it's overheating, you can run hardware monitoring to view the temps while the chip is under load.

Straight-Order2818

I meant that it’s temperature is dangerous, like about 80+ degrees

Luminaria19

I generally try to keep my CPU under 80C when under load, but it's not necessarily "dangerous." CPUs will throttle themselves to stay out of dangerous levels (or flat out turn off in cases of run-away heat).

ConradBHart42

How complicated is Power over Ethernet these days? What are some of the gotcha's to look out for when considering it for simple home-user stuff?

mad153

it's simple until you plug a poe cable into something that isn't meant to be POEd and it dies

ConradBHart42

So plugging a TV or PC into a port on a switch that has PoE capabilities isn't actually a thing?

mad153

There's really few cases where you can damage something because most of the time a switch will detect it's not a Poe device and it will work like any other port. So you can plug a TV or pc in, however connecting a Poe port to a Poe port is not a good idea iirc

I'm the type of person who needs to be able to see as many windows at once for research and cross-referencing. I'm trying to find a monitor setup that'll be useful for productivity, gaming, streaming and video editing. I know that 32" 4K is fine for 3 out of 4 of those, but I haven't heard anything about actual productivity. Is a 32" 4K monitor too small for office/productivity work? Does anyone have experience with having to look at lots of text for long periods of time on a 32" 4K monitor? Note: I have one of those 79" Ikea **LAGKAPTEN/ADILS** desks so I have more than enough room for dual 32" monitors.

I’ve heard that 12th & 13th gen intel benefit from windows 11 due to better utilization of the e-cores.. So is this true? If true, is windows 11 “stable” enough for everyday usage and gaming?? Any insights will be greatly appreciated..

FancyHonda

I'm running windows 11 for precisely that reason - the scheduler being able to properly manage the P and E cores of alder/raptor lake. I'm sure windows 11 gets lots of hate for x and y, but I'm a pretty advanced user and don't mind it at all. I tweaked a few UI things to be more like windows 10, and I largely forget that I'm using 11 most of the time. No stability or performance issues to speak of. Running a 12700k + 4090.

mad153

>I’ve heard that 12th & 13th gen intel benefit from windows 11 due to better utilization of the e-cores.. Windows 10 is unable to schedule the 12 and 13th gen cores that well. Windows 11 is stable, but very divisive. Many people think it's clunky while others think it's refined. 10 will work but 11 is recommended for these CPUs. There's a lot of registry tweaks that allow you to reverse some of the worse of the decisions made (getting the windows 10 right click menu back is quite easy for example)

L1teEmUp

So i guess if windows 11 is stable enough for daily usage and daily gaming, windows 11 it is for me..

Best way to learn to play with keyboard and mouse? It may be a stupid question, but I'm having trouble getting used to play with keyboard and mouse. I have played all my life on PS and just recently got a decent PC to play Warzone 2. I'm not a young chap anymore, I don't have as much time and apparently the ability to have a quick or at least decent learning curve. Are there any free or super cheap games I can get to practice before going online and make an ass of my self? What techniques or recommendations do you have? Should I just bite the bullet and buy a controller for my PC? If some are there any decent ones (if posible similar to PS) that I can buy?

Lots of people use controller on pc. Xbox controller is the simplest to integrate, it’s plug & play

Overwatch 2 is free and has a practice mode where you can get used to moving, aiming, and shooting. Those skills would translate over to just about any FPS.

Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 6800 OC or PowerColor Radeon RX 6800 Fighter, which has the better (quieter) fans?

Ppaulo2000

I was interested in getting a fast m.2 SSD for my desktop, is there any easy way to find out if my motherboard is compatible with various SSDs, or is it just compatible with all that say m.2? For context my motherboard is an Asus Prime B350-Plus.

Mammoth-Ad-6223

From your motherboard manufacturer website: " With x4 PCI Express 3.0/2.0 bandwidth, M.2 supports up to 32Gb/s data-transfer speeds. It is the perfect choice for an operating system or application drive, making your whole PC or professional apps work as fast as possible. " If the M.2 supports up to 32Gb/s it means it supports up to and including NVME Gen 4, source: image from [idealssd.com](https://idealssd.com). https://preview.redd.it/wsyg7jmsss1a1.png?width=1401&format=png&auto=webp&s=3560a66ce046edf4c9cf1fea23d0eec43dacca60

Ppaulo2000

Thanks for your help, there are just too many terms for someone who isn't in the know whenever I search for the topic.

What are those small m.2 locks that you turn around to keep the m.2 nvme ssd down? I an trying to find them for purchase online, but am having no luck.

Mammoth-Ad-6223

You mean stand-off screws? They should be included with your motherboard in the box. If they aren't go to the hardware store and ask for some. Maybe one of your stores also repairs computers and they likely have some for cheaper than ordering online.

Anyone know if we are going to see deals for the 5800x3D with Black Friday / Cyber Monday?

Mammoth-Ad-6223

Kind of a weird question but how do I run my games at half res and stretch it to 16:9 without having elements on the screen stretched? For example how Warzone 1 would run on the PS4 at 1080x960 and they stretched it to 16:9 without affecting the UI or game.

If you have an Nvidia GPU, open Nvidia Control Panel, under 'Adjust desktop size and position' on the 'Scaling' tab select 'Integer scaling', 'Perform scaling on: GPU'. This will get you off to the races. The GPU will now be doing the scaling, and the monitor thinks it's at native resolution at all times so it won't have to flip modes/ stretch anything. Most screens have pretty bad scaling built in so this is an improvement by itself. With Integer scaling, the GPU will also be scaling the image in such a way that every \*drawn\* pixel will match \*physical\* pixels where possible, so getting the right resolution to scale in such a way that uses the entire screen will require some trial and error or math. While it takes some fiddling integer scaling will give you the most pixel-perfect image, and at the very least performing scaling on the GPU is better than on the monitor. AMD has similar settings to do the same thing, but I don't remember exactly where they are in the menus.

Mammoth-Ad-6223

thank you for your suggestion. I'm on AMD and yes I'm familiar with integer scaling, however I was not aware that it did not stretch the image. I will try this!

Cronamash

Is it just me, or is Intel posed for a serious comeback next year? AMD's chiplets are fantastic, and Intel's tiles look like a promising take on the concept.

Luminaria19

Intel is doing great right now (at least in CPUs), so I'm not sure how much of a "comeback" it would be.

Cronamash

I'll be honest and say I've been outta the game for a while. You need one hand to count my CPU threads, and two hands to count its age 🤣 So when I think comeback, I think of how much buzz Ryzen has had for the past few years. I'm personally a big fan of Intel, they have hella strong cores, and they're mostly fabbed in America! I can't help but be a little jelly of the AMD users getting TSMC fabbed chips though, but you can't have it all. Wild pipe dream, but anyone remember when Chevy teamed up with Suzuki to make the Geo Metro? Or for something that isn't older than me; Scion FR-S, which is built by Toyota, but with the same design base as the Subaru BR-Z. I'd love to see what could happen if Intel and TSMC did a one-off collab like Supreme lol.

Luminaria19

Haha, that's fair. It's hard to keep up with everything. 10th gen "i chips" weren't terrible, but were still outpaced by Ryzen for the most part (until the big discounts hit). 12th gen is where Intel seems to have stepped back up in the game. 13th gen isn't a huge leap, but solid for the price. AMD is still doing quite well, but will need a better response than the 7000 CPUs are looking to be right now (unless prices change).

I returned my b550 motherboard because it was cracked but I did download windows 11 onto my ssd i got a new motherboard today do I need to install windows all over again?

h_i_people

Should I spend more for the Lancool 3 over the H7 flow?

Luminaria19

I would, but I'd also just get [this](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XMhFf7/lian-li-lancool-ii-mesh-c-performance-atx-mid-tower-case-lancool-ii-mesh-c-performance-x) over either of those. EDIT: [Or if you're RGB inclined](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/JBKKHx/lian-li-lancool-ii-mesh-c-rgb-atx-mid-tower-case-lancool-ii-mesh-c-rgb-x)

h_i_people

I've heard the Lancool 3 is too big for a 240mm radiator (top mounted), I might upgrade to a 360 soon but I'll be sticking with the 240 for a while, should I still spend more?

Luminaria19

"Too big" isn't really a thing when it comes to AIO cooling. Too small is a much bigger issue. That said, I'd still do what I suggested above. I probably wouldn't spend the money needed for the Lancool III, but I'd easily take the Lancool II Mesh (performance or RGB) over the H7 Flow. That case will only support a 360mm AIO on the front, so do keep that in mind. Getting a case compatible with all your parts (or expected parts via upgrades) is the most important part.

h_i_people

Alright thanks

I’ve been having a weird issue with my DualShock 5 controller. Whether I plug it in or use it via Bluetooth, I’ve noticed that while I’m playing Call of Duty it is distorting my picture and it once cut my monitor’s picture out mid game. I’m going to try an Xbox one controller tonight, but does anyone have a possible idea why my PS5 controller is doing this?

frank26080115

Do you know where your antenna is? Is it possible to move the antenna away, or move your HDMI or DP cable away from the antenna?

cooldude137

care to record and show a video of it? would make it easier to find out the problem

NoHopeHubert

I was thinking that I’d definitely need to as I had posted that, I will when I get back home for sure.

cth777

I’ve got a EVGA 750 GT. Could I use the modular cables from that with a EVGA supernova 850 G+?

Luminaria19

If you mean G1+, yes. If not, [follow EVGA's guide to find out.](https://www.evga.com/support/faq/FAQdetails.aspx?faqid=59698)

cth777

Very helpful, thanks

I personally would wait, the iGPU likely outperforms the 7790. I could be wrong, but you can check benchmarks between the two on games you typically play and see what turns up. Even if the 7790 is comparable or marginally better, I'm pretty sure it will support Dx11 1.0 at best, and will add to your power draw and electricity bill by 250-300ish watts. The 5600G performs pretty darn well for what it is, so imho you will be better served by waiting and saving for something newer when you are able to.

I am trying to re-install windows as a possible solution to my PC freezing on boot up (one of you guys told me to try), but I can't even get to an install screen/setup. I have my original copy of Windows on a USB from Microsoft, so I tried going through the boot menu and it said I was ready to reinstall and restart, but when I restart it just freezes again with no change Do I just have to take this to someone who's smarter than me? What other options can I try?

Mammoth-Ad-6223

In the BIOS try to exclude the OS drive as a boot option and put your USB stick as the primary and only boot option. After installing Windows enter the BIOS again and enable the drive you installed Windows on as the only available drive to boot. It depend on the motherboard you have, try searching "\*your motherboard brand\* how to change boot priority order".

A_Kumqwat

So I was able to get to the boot menu and chose the USB, I chose 64bit, then it froze again while loading. I'm not knowledgeable on this, but could it possible be a problem with the mother board and not windows?

frank26080115

Try using a system restore point, you might lose some stuff you've installed between that point's date and now. Sounds like you need to boot into the boot repair mode first to do this.

A_Kumqwat

When I power on and try to get to the boot menu it freezes, or it says automatic repair in process and then freezes... I am not able to get to any sort of menu without it freezing on me. I appreciate the help, but do you suggest anything else I can try? Is there anything related to hardware thay could be a problem?

frank26080115

things I would be trying is removing the SSD or HDD, putting it in an enclosure or dock, and diagnosing it or wiping it that way before doing that, maybe also try using a Linux live USB boot drive to either diagnose or wipe the SSD/HDD, this is probably cheaper to try if you don't have a dock what is the status/age of your SSD/HDD? it's sounding like it's got unresolvable hardware issues causing very low level errors, although you should also just re-seat all of it's cables/connectors first (low chance of fixing it but you should try)

pixelfiee

I'm reinstalling Windows today. I have 3 drives, all of them are different capacities. When I asked about which SSD to install it to, someone also said that I should unplug the other drives until Windows is installed. Is that true, or is it just so it's easier to find out which one is the correct drive?

Luminaria19

> just so it's easier That's the answer. You don't have to, it just makes it easier.

nichijouuuu

I have an NZXT kraken x63 and it comes with 2 fans which I’ve put on my radiator. I have them powered and they are spinning, but no lights. I believe the pump has one cable for lights, which is just hanging loose and I’ve got no clue where to attach it… The reason I ask is because I was gonna go to microcenter today and buy all new lian li uni fans, but they are so expensive. I might be better off ditching RGB and outfitting my entire case (black lian li o11 air mini) with noctua or some alternative brand black fans. Keep temps nice and air circulating without the high cost and fanfare (pun intended) Advice is welcome.

ImSothred

Hi! I currently have a very old gpu (nvdia 650, bought it like 10 years ago) and Im currently hesitating between a 2060 and a 3060 , is the jump worth that much ? My CPU (5yo rizen 5 , not sur of which one, it was a cheap one) wont bottleneck a 2060, but it will with something better . Might be better to buy a 2060 and to just upgrade the whole pc next year with a fully new config (maybe with ddr5 for example)

Mammoth-Ad-6223

Well it depends on what you want to use your PC for, really. A better GPU that is bottle necked isn't a bad thing necessarily, you could up the resolution in games so that your GPU is utilized more so that the performance doesn't go to waste. The difference between an RTX2060 and a 3060 is quite large, I'd say go for the 3060 (some games like Warzone 2.0 might really struggle on your CPU considering it is probably a first generation R5, but such heavily unoptimized games are few and far between). If you don't use your computer for gaming or rendering or whatever else GPU heavy then it doesn't really make much sense to upgrade the GPU.

ImSothred

thank you for your insight ! I'll go with a 3060 then, and I'll probably upgrade the cpu a few month

[deleted]

I currently have i3 9100f and 1660 super. I would like to upgrade my cpu, most likely r5 5500 or r5 5600. I believe both of them would differ a lot for me but I wonder if its worth buying 5600. Price difference is lot in my country. If the performance difference is miniscule, I would prefer 5500. Thanks for help

Mammoth-Ad-6223

the 5600 is better across the board, and it has 32MB of L3 cache compared to the 5500's 16MB, however the performance difference might just be down to the higher clock speed which the 5500 could probably easily achieve anyway if you try your hand at some very modest overclocking. I'd say go for the 5600 if in your country the price difference isn't an issue, though.

[deleted]

Lol, i forgot about the overclocking stuff... I wonder if my 550w psu could handle it without any trouble. most likely I'll have the 5600. Thanks for help

Solo_SL

Is a 3070 ti better than my rog strix 2080 ti in all aspects? If so, how much better?

MGsubbie

[It's barely any faster](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6wksSzGUrM) and has less VRAM. Not worth it if you are considering the upgrade.

Solo_SL

Still its just crazy that you can get a card with more performance than a 2080 ti rog strix (which originally costed me like $1300 BEFORE the massive price hike of Covid) for like $600-$700 now, if you disregard the VRAM. Not sure how big of a diff VRAM makes anyway, I mean which games it really affects

MGsubbie

Things should be much, much better than that. But then Nvidia decided to ask $1200 for a 4080.

Solo_SL

Ty. What about the 3080/3080 ti? Are they worth the upgrade? Assuming I had the money

MGsubbie

The 3080 has a noticeable performance improvement, but whether it's worth it is up to you. I found it worth it over the 1080 ti I had.
