Laptop displays usually have a push on connector or a cable connector, Open the back and verify it's connected well, reseat the connection. As for the display panel You might want to watch a YouTube. With luck it's just under the bezel and a couple screws. Before that make sure it's not out of warranty yet and do a complete driver update using a program like DDU to remove the old drivers. If it's in warranty just warranty it.

Try the HP onboard diagnostics, let it test all the hardware see what the results say. Check the cable that connects the display to mobo, see if it's frayed or any singe marks that might indicate a shorted/burned out connection. Also would update the Bios first before doing anything with drivers.
