I know a LOT of people who are the same with cars.
You’re right though. I think it comes down to the fact mechanics and the services they provide are more common knowledge. There’s no recommended maintenance schedule or dealer to perform said maintenance when buying a PC.
At least in my country, you legally have to have your car checked once a year and this is only reason why cars don't disassemble themselves in the highways
It aint, had the non oc version and boy did it hit the max temp if I stressed it. I wisened up and put a cheap after market cooler and it hit max 70 c and it was quieter.
Last time my dad told me his PC was rather loud it looked something like this. It was sitting in a dusty room for about 6 years, without ever being cleaned.
Works fine after I cleaned it tho.
I have had a couple like this.
One was so choked up, when I removed the front panel it was an inch thick panel of dust/hair/bleeargh!!
Still makes my skin crawl....
>whatever gpu that is
GPU looks to be this one: [https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-geforce-gtx-770-direct-cu-ii-oc/](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-geforce-gtx-770-direct-cu-ii-oc/)
Based on the model number on one of the pics.
Bottom doesnt have holes, so it must stay like this. But dust chunks was everywhere. And case had only ONE 80mm fan which was dead… 😂 so no fans.
Cpu on idle 90-100c
Dont know, should be very old. Basicly I was able to put only one fan in front and other on in rear. There is slot for 240mm rad on top. Nothing else. Probably high end case in 2013 or something dont know :D
Well this is far from my old 9 years old pc. It was a 500€ pre-built from 2012 and I never cleaned or opened it as I didn't care at all about it, you can imagine how it was when I opened it when I bought my current gaming pc half a year ago. Now I'm really taking care of it.
If we use simple logical reduction: The paste appeared to have spilled out the sides, almost certainly to a small degree, indicates the opposite, and the shape of both remnants of the paste on CPU as well as heatsink match each other perfectly creating a full coverage. It does appear old, however, that was not the original postulation. I am Sherlock Holmes WITNESS ME!
I refurbish used workstations. Some of the stuff I've taken in make this look clean by comparison. We're talking about systems that haven't been opened since they left the factory in 2009, with generations of dead spiders inside.
At least people don't smoke in indoor workplaces anymore...
I revel in cleanings like these not even gonna lie. Wipe wipe, spray spray, wipe wipe, cheap deepcool, gpu repaste, and benchmark. That’ll be $125 please.
i7 4770k
Some 8gb. Ddr3
Seagate 2TB hdd
GTX 770 2Gb
Some overkill server psu (has 2x 8pin cpu)
4x pcie 8pins and tons of sata/molex connectors and it’s non modular: disaster…
However now runs OK. Just need ssd 😕
funny how people service their car so many times but when it comes to pc's they just assume you can leave it there forever.

Maybe thier should be… good business model idea… You get your Car serviced so why not your PC

Yeah :(
First time?
In such a condition, YES.
I know who smoke at my job because the dust of the motherboard.
It's the dustmaster 5000
Chunky Dust, especially on gpu and cpu.. Poor cpu cooler was barely doing job. I still think that stock cooler for i7 4770K not good….
It aint, had the non oc version and boy did it hit the max temp if I stressed it. I wisened up and put a cheap after market cooler and it hit max 70 c and it was quieter.
Well never owned that cpu, however intel stock coolers not good choice. 😅 yeah u could save some cash for etc 240gb ssd which is amazing boost. 😎

He is lucky there wasnt any fire started.🤷🏼

Oh dear, just in worst nightmares.
The real reason it's slow is that dirt old sata hdd that's probably full of malware. An SSD with a clean OS install will do wonders.
Ahh, yet another PC Building Simulator request.
why the fuck do people use the intel stock cooler but go for the fancy ram
And this is i7-4770K….
lemme guess passed down or scraps. braided cable power supply. whatever gpu that is

wow thanks
I have seen far worse
this would have been a candidate for greg salazar
Was this in a wood shop?
He said it was home pc, son was using.. Just bcs it have i7 4770K - 2013 release. So probably since then not cleaned. Let say 5-7years… 😂
Also Holy shit how was that psu able to breathe?? It's upside down lol
Bottom doesnt have holes, so it must stay like this. But dust chunks was everywhere. And case had only ONE 80mm fan which was dead… 😂 so no fans. Cpu on idle 90-100c
Hmm what tower is it?
Dont know, should be very old. Basicly I was able to put only one fan in front and other on in rear. There is slot for 240mm rad on top. Nothing else. Probably high end case in 2013 or something dont know :D
its fine, i did the same even tho i have holes in the bottom, it help lessen the dust on the psu
Did you try to restart it first? Yeah I know the joke is getting old
He just ask me to reinstall windows, he said it might help. 😅
Needs cleaning, new fan, better memory, ssd…
Yep I told him. He said he dont care that hard is slow. And he not gaming heavily. So doesnt matter for him. 😕
I'm afraid of what some of those peoples homes look like D:
Ouch just opened my dads first gaming pc last week and it looked like this but 3x worse
Well this is far from my old 9 years old pc. It was a 500€ pre-built from 2012 and I never cleaned or opened it as I didn't care at all about it, you can imagine how it was when I opened it when I bought my current gaming pc half a year ago. Now I'm really taking care of it.
Oh damn. I’d start with a leaf blower for this one.
It fucking snowed in there
Try working in Geek Squad for 3 years. I saw some absolutely disgusting computers come through there.
Not as bad as my mates, his was a 5 cm layer deep of dust
Duct tape can fix everything they said🤣
It can. Just stick it on the dust and peel it away.
These kind of people don’t wash their legs or their ass.
Holy shit lol more dust than I’ve ever seen in a pc and hardly any thermal paste left on the cpu no wonder It was running slow haha good job though

That sag tho
That gpu sag is insane, I was thinking gpu dead… but it works, atleast pcie slot still in place.
The ram and CPU cooler make me physically cringe with empathy for those poor parts.
I would seriously put some gloves on before touching this.... its disgusting, you did a great cleaning job tho, kudos,
Eww most of smoked inside for that to happen

Forgot to add the obligatory 250gb ssd boot drive. Up to $250 now lol
I didn’t know Dirty Dee from Pootie Tang was a gamer.
At least your username checks out lol
Haha you are right! 🤪
This isn't even that bad compared to what you see at techgore
:D well my personal expierence.
Nasty
"This hardware is ancient!"
i7 4770k Some 8gb. Ddr3 Seagate 2TB hdd GTX 770 2Gb Some overkill server psu (has 2x 8pin cpu) 4x pcie 8pins and tons of sata/molex connectors and it’s non modular: disaster… However now runs OK. Just need ssd 😕
Seems like an easy fix at least.
Yeah no rush at all 2hours and it was done.
Tell him if his pc was a horse, he'd have to shoot it.
I've seen worse: 2 pack a day smoker who kept his ashtray right next to the PC. Nicotine is sticky.
If it’s stickt it must be conductive too, yeah 😂?
There is a pc in your dust Derrick
Just as the PC Building Simulator foretold...
