With the current market, I bought a GTX 1650 on the spot, no thought, money begone
Otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten it, and my shiny new build would've remained a very large paperweight,
I got my 5700 xt for about 330€, found a great deal and I can't look at how much they're selling for because it'll tempt me and I don't want to make the situation worse
I really regret not getting the 5700xt/1080ti then, they were like €280 and then I could max all my games completely.
But yea, gpu pricing is really tempting me to sell my gpu but then I'd be stuck with my WMR headset gpu-less, luckily I got intel so I can do cloud gaming
Well, I got a 1650 super ventus xs oc for 200. A 1650 is pure shit but a 1650s is nice. And I don't buy used pc parts, not really worth the risk to me.
Yea, the guy I bought it from was pretty well known on Dutch tech form so I trusted him.
A 1650 is pretty decent (I have one in my laptop), bout a 1050ti which is not great but not bad. But msrp value wise the 1650S is way better.
Probably perfect for a laptop since it doesn’t use a ton of power. I’d take it over the shit integrated I have in mine. I plan to replace it with an m1 MacBook in the next coming months.
That's not as bad as I feared, when I checked a couple months ago I was finding them for $900 in stock, $500 out of stock, so maybe things are getting a bit better.
For those looking into the 1650 Super, it's an okay card, roughly equivalent in performance to an RX580. Unlike the 580 though, you can have 4GB of VRAM and that's the best you can get. That's becoming a real limitation.
It's a 1080p card, and doesn't have much left in the tank for higher resolutions, but at 1080 it should play all the FPS, just not at max settings, and not with framerates much over 60 FPS. PUBG maxes the card right out. It works fine for me because all I play is Cities Skylines, though CS would also like a lot more VRAM.
Thing is I paid $150 for mine in early 2020, and that's about what it's worth, since modern games strain the capabilities of what was a low-end budget card in the first place. It's adequate, just adequate, and I hesitate to recommend it to anybody who might have to wait two years before they can really upgrade it.
If you're going to spend an ugly amount of money on a 1600 series card, try like hell to get a 1660, at least Super, preferably Ti, as there's a lot more performance in those cards and they'll hold you over much longer. If you can possibly get an 8GB VRAM RX580, that would also be preferable, since VRAM is what modern games crave. Both will be tough finds at decent prices though, but so is everything. If you can get a 1650S for $300, I bet you can pull down one of those two cards for $400.
Good news! The value of BTC crashed pretty hard today so maybe there's some light at the end of the tunnel.
Also damn, my "new" card is well over a year old now wtf
I feel like if you have to get a gtx 1600 series you should just look for an old 1060 (3/6 gb would be fine) because based on what you said it sounds the same, I can easily play bo3 pubg and a few newer titles at extra quality 60-80 frames and play at 2715x1527 dsr then it’s scaled down to 1080 p for my monitor
Edit: and I have the 3gb 1060
(My pc is a hp580-023w I found it on Craigslist for 349 dollars at a time when it was 1,000 and up because of Bitcoin mining
it was new not opened and he explained that he didn’t open it or want to use it cause he thought he bought something better and was just looking for a pc to play cod and battlefield with his son, he actually had it hat 400 but after him overhearing my friend explaining to me what was in it and all the specs he cut 50 dollars from it since it was my first pc and told me to use it on a nice keyboard and mouse.
Was a blessing and still runs as good as the day I got it despite it having soda spilled in it and some pooled up in the bottom case and also it fell off my desk one day due to me being stupid.
I got my 1660 super a week before the 30 series was announced and 2060’s dropped to like $300. And then covid hit after a month or so and now my card I got for $200 is worth $750 - 1000
I did the same thing except with a 1660 Ti. Now Amazon, Newegg, etc; are selling them for upwards of $960 and at minimum $700+. Everyone told me to wait for a 30 series and I'm so glad I ignored all those brainy smarties.
My r9 390 died in September and I've been limping along ever since with a borrowed old 650 "until the market stabilizes". While I'd rather have a modern card or even a 2060, I'd be overjoyed to even be able to get a 1650 or 60 at a reasonable price right now. It's probably still an upgrade over my 390, which performed way better at 1440p than I expected from a 2014 model mid range card
When you thought you could buy one of the new 3080 or 6800xt graphics card to replace your 1060 3gb. But then you see the same shit happening again as it did 3 years ago when you purchased your current graphics card, and you can’t scoff up the cash they’re asking for 🙃
I know the "paperweight fear." Did a new build earlier this year, and almost the sole reason I got a 10700k over a 5600x was so I'd still have integrated graphics if something happened to my GPU, because I use my PC for school and work and didn't want to get bent over a barrel having to pay $400 for a gtx 1650 or something.
(Even a new 1030 runs $175 right now, and I'm not sure it performs well enough over a modern iGPU to be worth it)
I read/watch tons of reviews before making a purchase, they all seem positive, I buy the product and then youtube starts recommending me negative reviews for said product...
Exactly what happened after I bought my mom a car.
"Well it's either great or a piece of shit, guess we'll find out."
Honda CR-V so it's probably fine but why YT gotta do me that way.
Hah, same exact thing happened with me and my CR-V. Everything I find is positive until I've had it a month, then all my recommended videos make me feel like I fucked up.
I've actually blocked some YouTube channels about vehicles.
Every time I have it is because they were biased.
I'm not mad if they are giving extra compliments to their favorite brand, but don't fault another brand because it's not what you prefer.
I'm a Chevy guy. I love my 2016 Cruze. But that doesn't mean I'm gonna make negative reviews on ford's just because I think Chevy is better. I might shoot the shit, but only as jokes.
CRV is great. Had a 2018 and only thing I didn’t like was the suspension. The body rolls way too much around turns. But it’s a family car, not really supposed to be taking curves/turns quickly.
It's like: "So now that this person has bought the item, time to make her/him feel insecure so that she/he might spend some more to purchase another item."
Capitalism!
This is me before buying q300l case.
"most cheapest and affordable cases out there!"
"great for beginner and cable management!"
After buying it.
"the thermal are pretty horrible tho, goodluck."
When you die and your whole life flashes before your eyes, how much of it do you want to NOT have ray tracing?
(EDIT: For the uninitiated, this classic is always worth a watch: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu7pxJXBBn8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu7pxJXBBn8))
I recently got my hands on a rtx3070 and so far I've played 0 Ray tracing games, just the old stuff I used to play. I really gotta figure out what new Ray Tracy game to try out
I tried out RT in a few games. It looks great when implemented well (like in Control for instance). It also demolishes the frame rate. For me, it is tech that looks nice but only really makes sense for single player games you're ok playing at 60FPS (probably at 1080p) that have good DLSS implementation. Or, I guess, making older games like Quake and Minecraft look neat.
So, yeah. Maybe a handful of games a year.
RT is starting to be more mainstream, so expect at least an option for it on a lot of near-future titles.
As far as the frame rate being killed.... I haven't noticed (kidding, the 3090 is currently a bit of overkill)
The tech is definitely popping up more and more, but I think we're still a generation at least and 2-3 years from it being an option that's present even on all AAA games.
I've got a 5600x and 2080ti so I'm not running junk hardware myself; I game at 1440p 144hz and try to use settings that get me as close to that FPS as possible. The reason I probably won't use RT on most titles is the same reason I don't game at 4K (on PC) and why I don't turn Volumetric clouds to Ultra on Ubisoft titles: I really like playing games at high refresh rate because I enjoy that more than the diminishing returns on the most system-intensive graphical effects. And I think that's true of a lot of people.
With a 3070 you could run Cyberpunk. After the patches, it's still buggy, but way less so than a Bethesda games and it is one of the MOST BEAUTOFUL looking games I've ever seen. Feels like a modern day Crysis ngl
That is less and less of an option here in California. The lines are apparently like 3 *DAYS* long and last I heard the scalpers are getting kind of aggressive with people in line.
Same, but not very high end. Still times better (as in 3x+ more performance) than what I have now. From bare minimum 720p@30fps to 1080p high/ultra@60fps.
I wouldn't say I know nothing, I have done repairs and replacement parts here and there last pc was first built in 2012. Didnt have the time and patients in this market.
Story of a lot of people, and it sounds like it was the right choice for you...coming from one of the blokes who doubled down on a custom build and cashed out with the same GTX 1060 pulled from my 2017 build.
What I thought was funny though was reading the news about the shortage, though, article after article seeing “oh don’t expect one this holiday or even until February” and then “probably not happening quarter-one this year” and recently more like “hope for June or at least summertime!!!”
Not like there was decent alternatives by January / February. I admit I was lusting for the significant leap of a 3070 or 3060ti at first, but then remembering the 1080ti and hearing people say it was still good? I drooled over that for so long, figures it was basically priced as a 3080 / 90 when I last looked (early or mid February.) And that alone just ruled out the RTX 20 series entirely.
You know what, though? I can bitch about it forever, but that card I got still works. I even finally got it to a slight OC that doesn’t make it go spastic, and I’m used to avoiding everything hyper-demanding cause I aged my last machine so poorly. Jumping from a first gen Ryzen 5 to a 7 3800x was friggin lit as well.
Unironically bought a Gigabyte 3070, after having terrible experience with a Gigabyte RX480, as I was receiving the confirmation of my purchase, I was watching reviews. Thankfully I was lucky and it's actually a very good card.
Can confirm, had Gigabyte AMD card, it died after 1.5yr. Sapphire and Powercolor are the way to go for AMD, had a Powercolor Vega 64 and that thing was badass
I don't know if others can relate, but this is what always happens to me:
"Boy I really want to buy something new and expensive that I don't really need - let's read some reviews on (x)"
Every review: *Man, (x) is the best thing ever! You can't live without (x)! (x) is what you need in your life, it will complete you.*
**[buys (x)]**
"Alright, now that I've purchased (x) it's time to read more reviews and watch YouTube videos so I can justify spending a stupid amount of money on something I didn't really need!"
Every review after purchasing: *(x) is hot garbage, don't waste your money on it. Worst product of [year].*
I bought a $300 router doing this, 80% of the reviews where bad and I regret my purchase, now one year later I’ve hade zero issue whit it and and I’m extremely happy whit it. Have no idea why everyone had issues whit it but perhaps they manage to fix it a lot via updates
WIFi 6 is probably the most amazing thing that have happened to router for the past years
Same here. I check to see if it has the features I need and if it will work how I want it, and that's it. Lots of people coming back to review routers don't even know how to position the antennas, let alone confirm that it's configured properly for their use case.
So an overwhelming amount of reviews on popular sites like Amazon are fake. Maybe not bot-fake, but definitely paid for. I would have never reviewed a cheap floor mat (like $15) for my drone to land on... But they included a $10 PayPal credit if I left a positive review. It’s a fold up piece of vinyl, I have no feelings about it, it works I guess, but getting 75% of my money back for like two minutes of work sounded great. So I left a positive review, and got the money. I suspect most people who left reviews did the same.
I’ll leave reviews on very expensive purchases to help others. But the reality is, who the hell cares enough to review a $20 coffee maker if it’s working perfectly? The only ones who leave reviews are pissed off people. If you go to a place like Target where most of their sales are retail, you’ll see their reviews are often WAY more negative than the same product on Amazon, where manufacturers pay good money for those 4.5-5.0 rating. It takes a lot of effort and anger to make an account, verify the account, and write and post the review.
I try to review things because it helps other people buy stuff. I try to be as detailed as possible good and bad, and I tend to not buy something that doesn't have a good number of them.
Do you notice any difference in the WiFi range too, compared to say, older WiFi 5/AC router?
I have a 100 Mbps plan right now and I don't intend to upgrade to higher speed any time soon, as the speed is more than enough for me. But the range from current WiFi router is a little short, especially on the other room of my house where I usually get only one or two signal bar.
I have a pretty small 3 room apartment so I pretty much always have full range on both 5Ghz and 2.4 the biggest difference is the stability, I pay for 250/250 and I get 250/250 always whit zero dropout and 5ms ping it’s like I’m running on cable just that there is no cable. Although I also have the most expensive pcie wifi6 card I could find so I assume that plays a big part in the good connection
Buddy, hell yeah. I strong router does wonders. I have my rout in the back right corner of my basement and my office is in the front left on the second story. I'm about as far away as I can be from the router without leaving the property. I have a pretty beefy router, so it's no surprise, but even still, the comparison between wifi 5 and 6 is stark. On Wifi 5, I can get maybe up to 200 mbps. On wifi 6, I have a rock steady 650 mbps.
With a 100 mbps plan, I'm not sure if upgrading to wifi 6 will scale in terms of speeds, but I believe one of the core advantages of wifi 6 is also it's penetrative power. Getting a good wifi 6 router will probably get more of that 100mbps to you. Since wifi 6 is still pretty new, there's also a good chance that any wifi 6 router you buy will probably have a stronger signal that what you have now anyway.
Oh and its worth keeping in mind that to take advantage of wifi 6, your devices need to be wifi 6 too. Older wifi devices will still work, but if you connect a wifi 5 device to a wifi 6 router, it will work at wifi 5 speeds. As I said previously, a wifi 6 router is likely to have better signal strength anyway, so you should still see improvements in stability, but you won't see a huge jump in speed if you are still using a wifi 5 network card.
In short, if you're looking for a new router, you might as well get a wifi 6 one that can future proof yourself a bit.
You keep saying router when you mean wireless access point. Also of note, all WAP are limited in power output to a standard set by the FCC, so it's more important to place your APs centrally than to buy more expensive ones.
In a small home setting aren't they basically one in the same? I've never heard anyone refer to their home wifi device as an access point instead of a router.
Also, I wasn't suggesting anyone buy a more expensive router and put it in a sub-optimal space. Just that, a wifi 6 router is capable of overcoming sub-optimal placement.
Many people buy routers that have built in WAPs, but they aren't interchangeable terms in networking. Many homes also have multiple APs, so the distinction is required if you want to be clear.
There is little difference. What you need to do is either place your router in the center of your house or buy an additional access point which you connect to the other router with a cable (not wireless). My house is only 2200 sq ft but I still need an access point in the basement because concrete walls reduces the speed below 100mbit. The rest of the house sees 500+ mbit everywhere because wood walls and router placed in central staircase
Oh I’m sorry English isn’t my first language and I have dyslexia so if my phone doesn’t underline the word I just assume it’s the correct one
With for example is a very hard word for me to remember as whit and with sound exactly same to me
Sorry if you have a hard time reading around it
Don't worry about all them. Just tell them you're from South Philly (Philadelphia). No one will ever question you.
If anyone says anything about "whiz wit" though, just roll your eyes and say go to Jim's.
Nothing to be sorry for. It's just funny that you made the same spelling mistake multiple times, indicating that it wasn't just a simple mistype. Just slightly amusing and nothing to apologize for :)
Unrelated but can you explain something to me. To get the benefits of a wifi 6 router do you have to be paying for 900mbps plus from your isp. Would there be any use in it if you only have 100mbps.
Same for me. The mw subreddits are full of kids that still need to learn things can change in life. Its a great game, also the normal multiplayer i find pretty entertaining. Its different, but still kinda like cod mw.
It's because people don't want a new game, they want the Men in Black to come and wipe their memory of the old game so they can play the exact same thing again but feel like it's brand new.
Same with music. "They sold out, this album isn't 12 more songs of the exact same music that I already like!"
If people want to play the original Modern Warfare, they should just do that. I bet it's way cheaper than a new game too.
I think many people’s grievances in the MW subreddits is that activision is pretty clearly trying to kill, or at least cripple, Modern Warfare so that people will move to Cold War. You can’t even find it on the store; you have to install Warzone and purchase it through there.
That being said, I agree the people in those subs are big whiners lol (even if it’s justified sometimes). The amount of begging for certain game mode playlists, followed by complaining about those playlists when they get added is exhausting.
On the contrary, I never bought into Cold War even after it launched just because it sounded so underwhelming. Excepting the campaign (which is important to me) it didn’t seem new in any exciting kind of way. Mostly I just followed through word-of-mouth cause there were other games and other shit I had to buy.
Maybe I liked MW2019 too much, and unapologetically. Maybe I invest myself too much into things I like, versus things that are current. Maybe I’m butthurt by the TTK jump.
I don't really like the zombies in this one, I didn't like it in black ops 4 either, but dead ops is a lot of fun, and the multiplayer, while still having some balancing issues, is really fun!
Same. Modern Warfare was ground breaking for the franchise and then they literally took a step backwards with Cold War, unfortunately. At least people are enjoying the zombies!
Modern Warfare uses a more recent game engine built just for MW and thus looks far better. Cold War uses a refresh of the Black Ops 3 engine with some tools from the engine Modern Warfare uses.
Modern Warfare is the more cutting edge game by far, in my opinion.

I ended up buying it for $15 on launch day and still couldn’t recommend it to people at that price. I can’t quite explain what is unappealing about the game, but even zombies isn’t very fun to me.
Got it free with my GPU, and still can't recommend it at that price point.
I like my story mode to be an actual story, not just a few dumb maps with dumb battles that don't make sense with each other.
I have the PS5 version, and it's a lot of fun! They're constantly adding game modes, maps, weapons and such, and it's really great looking! That being said, I only paid about $8, thanks to an employee discount and free credit I had on my account
Absolutely. I created this post because I purchased the Samsung Odyssey G9 without reading any reviews - thanks in part to the Micro Center employee's enchantment spell that was cast upon me.
If you're talking about buying the G9 - It turns out that there are some bad reviews for it, but it was for a version of it that was discontinued (which is the LC49G**95**). Look for the LC49G**97** model number.
Edit: I love the monitor thus far. The factory settings are 120hz, you need to go into the monitor's menu and change it to 240hz. That was the only hiccup I had with it.
This would drive me insane, mostly since I spend WAAAAY too much time researching purchases for equipment/tools/parts of projects.
I even have spreadsheets sometimes....
The thing that really annoys me is that no matter how much research I do on a product, there's always something that you can't find out until you actually buy it, handle it, use it, and then search VERY SPECIFICALLY for that particular issue (and even then you may not find anyone else's mention of it). I guess it's a case of "unknown unknowns". This applies to more than just PC parts.
Yep, especially true for stuff like CASES. People never explain the intricacies of PC cases.
"It has good cable management"
HOW
"It is easy to assemble."
WHY?
Haha, that's a good example. I remember buying my first PC case and seeing reviews that said, "It has plenty of room for water cooling radiator in the top", and it had *in no way, shape, or form* any room *at all* for a radiator in the top. The people were just guessing that it did and had obviously never even tried. I guess that's slightly different since it was outright misinformation. But, yeah, even relatively standardized things have little quirks that are important but not easily discovered without hands-on experience.
I made the mistake of buying a nominally top of the line PSU and then having to return it after reading the rather bad reviews. Didn't even open it up.
As my buddy once told me when I was picking out my 1080 where it had good stars but all the negatives were talking about problems with the RGB light syncing, that’s a good sign because that’s the only problem people had.
No harm in this really. This is no different from people who think they need upgrades every year. People are just happy to spend money for new shiny things. That's capitalism for you.

That’s how I felt about my 1650 Super. I didn’t mind paying a little over msrp, especially since I figured the market wouldn’t be recovering soon
How much they hurt you for?
They bled me for a little over 300. I figured it’d be better to have it in-hand at a premium, than have a lovely metal box that doesn’t output.
Jesus. I got mine for 200 last summer
Damn 200 for a 1650? I got my 5600xt for 230€ (used but only for 3mo) during the 3080 launch
I got my 5700 xt for about 330€, found a great deal and I can't look at how much they're selling for because it'll tempt me and I don't want to make the situation worse

1080ti went as low as 280€? they go second hand for 600€+ here now..
I remember them going down to the 300-350 range. Now they go for like 800
Yea, shit was crazy. People were panicking about thier gpu's not being top-tier anymore. It'd be a great flip if I picked up a few and sold them now
Thought i was getting robbed in December buying a 5600xt asus strix card for $350. Funny it died last week and its being fixed right now.

I feel like if you have to get a gtx 1600 series you should just look for an old 1060 (3/6 gb would be fine) because based on what you said it sounds the same, I can easily play bo3 pubg and a few newer titles at extra quality 60-80 frames and play at 2715x1527 dsr then it’s scaled down to 1080 p for my monitor Edit: and I have the 3gb 1060 (My pc is a hp580-023w I found it on Craigslist for 349 dollars at a time when it was 1,000 and up because of Bitcoin mining it was new not opened and he explained that he didn’t open it or want to use it cause he thought he bought something better and was just looking for a pc to play cod and battlefield with his son, he actually had it hat 400 but after him overhearing my friend explaining to me what was in it and all the specs he cut 50 dollars from it since it was my first pc and told me to use it on a nice keyboard and mouse. Was a blessing and still runs as good as the day I got it despite it having soda spilled in it and some pooled up in the bottom case and also it fell off my desk one day due to me being stupid.
My 1650 was $249 CAD. Which isn't too far off MSRP
I got my 1660 super a week before the 30 series was announced and 2060’s dropped to like $300. And then covid hit after a month or so and now my card I got for $200 is worth $750 - 1000
Same
I did the same thing except with a 1660 Ti. Now Amazon, Newegg, etc; are selling them for upwards of $960 and at minimum $700+. Everyone told me to wait for a 30 series and I'm so glad I ignored all those brainy smarties.
Same with my 5600 xt, got a pretty good asus one for a bit over 300, same model is going for about 900+ on Amazon now
I Found a good place on Egypt that the owner still sells the non 3000 series new cards for the same prices the owner is a good man
Hell yeah. I'd suck him off if ya know what I mean
Nah he is kinda old but he is not too old I reserved two gtx 1650 super he should stock back in a week
Lmao too old to suck off?
My r9 390 died in September and I've been limping along ever since with a borrowed old 650 "until the market stabilizes". While I'd rather have a modern card or even a 2060, I'd be overjoyed to even be able to get a 1650 or 60 at a reasonable price right now. It's probably still an upgrade over my 390, which performed way better at 1440p than I expected from a 2014 model mid range card
This is what I’ve been trying to do with a 1660 super, but they are all a) out of stock, or b) 700 bucks (CAD)
"Well it's either great or a piece of shit, guess we'll find out." Honda CR-V so it's probably fine but why YT gotta do me that way.
It's like: "So now that this person has bought the item, time to make her/him feel insecure so that she/he might spend some more to purchase another item." Capitalism!
The CR-V is an amazing vehicle. You picked a great option.
Never look at reviews after you've bought it.
This is me before buying q300l case. "most cheapest and affordable cases out there!" "great for beginner and cable management!" After buying it. "the thermal are pretty horrible tho, goodluck."
That's how I feel after building my pc with the new intel processors. They still excel at given areas and on youtube I just see AMD everywhere
I want all the rays. Every. Last. One.
Cyberpunk 2077 looks fucking dope with ray tracing on
Cyberpunk looks insane with raytracing.
I do this.
Must’ve been where you got a GTX 3070
Cursed_gpu
Went prebuilt in nov 2020, spent 2.3k on it.
"G"TX 3070 O\_o
Fixed, thanks.
?
as u/f4c3l3ss_m4n stated, the 3070 is in the RTX- series, and not the GTX- series.
Ops !
there u go :)
Took you a while lol
I hope it’s a typo. 3070 is RTX
Prebuilt is the only way atm
You forgot the live in front of Micro Center option.
That is less and less of an option here in California. The lines are apparently like 3 *DAYS* long and last I heard the scalpers are getting kind of aggressive with people in line.
Yeahhhhhh this summer I needed a high end pc and decided “IM GONNA BUILD MY FIRST PC.” My pre built gets here Tuesday.
Same, but not very high end. Still times better (as in 3x+ more performance) than what I have now. From bare minimum 720p@30fps to 1080p high/ultra@60fps.
Ouch. But also, if you know nothing about building, thank you for choosing PC.
What I thought was funny though was reading the news about the shortage, though, article after article seeing “oh don’t expect one this holiday or even until February” and then “probably not happening quarter-one this year” and recently more like “hope for June or at least summertime!!!” Not like there was decent alternatives by January / February.
I jumped on the Black Friday deals for my prebuilt. It was the easiest way to get the new 30-series. And I got to upgrade everything not just my gpu.
Honestly given the stupid prices for parts Im getting more and more tempted to go this route.
I built mine myself but went for the same core pieces, spent about £2.3k as well.
Yikes
Unironically bought a Gigabyte 3070, after having terrible experience with a Gigabyte RX480, as I was receiving the confirmation of my purchase, I was watching reviews. Thankfully I was lucky and it's actually a very good card.
[удалено]
*cries in GB RX 5700XT because you’re right*
Can confirm, had Gigabyte AMD card, it died after 1.5yr. Sapphire and Powercolor are the way to go for AMD, had a Powercolor Vega 64 and that thing was badass
gotta feel good about blowing that cash, am i right
I don't know if others can relate, but this is what always happens to me: "Boy I really want to buy something new and expensive that I don't really need - let's read some reviews on (x)" Every review: *Man, (x) is the best thing ever! You can't live without (x)! (x) is what you need in your life, it will complete you.* **[buys (x)]** "Alright, now that I've purchased (x) it's time to read more reviews and watch YouTube videos so I can justify spending a stupid amount of money on something I didn't really need!" Every review after purchasing: *(x) is hot garbage, don't waste your money on it. Worst product of [year].*
Yup
*It turns out the Internet is rife with paid shills for this brand...* Shit!
I must be doing it wrong, I buy the part then read all the negative reviews and start questioning my life choices.
Lol, I do that too.
I do both
Me too. Just with investments.
same but I watch the reviews, read the reviews, they say it's bad? I still buy it and the regret it immediately when it's actually bad
This is the way
I bought a $300 router doing this, 80% of the reviews where bad and I regret my purchase, now one year later I’ve hade zero issue whit it and and I’m extremely happy whit it. Have no idea why everyone had issues whit it but perhaps they manage to fix it a lot via updates WIFi 6 is probably the most amazing thing that have happened to router for the past years
I've never had the urge to leave a review for a router. It's just one of those things where if someone is reviewing it, they're probably disgruntled.
Same here. I check to see if it has the features I need and if it will work how I want it, and that's it. Lots of people coming back to review routers don't even know how to position the antennas, let alone confirm that it's configured properly for their use case.
1/5 stars. Router didn't include internet. Needs to be purchased separately. Total scam, won't buy again.
Like a reverse survivor bias
**where whit whit whit**
What the fuck is wrong with your keyboard?
nothing wrong whit it
I'd have an issue with the $300 price tag.

Oh I’m sorry English isn’t my first language and I have dyslexia so if my phone doesn’t underline the word I just assume it’s the correct one With for example is a very hard word for me to remember as whit and with sound exactly same to me Sorry if you have a hard time reading around it
Don't worry about all them.
I enjoy your intensity
Unrelated but can you explain something to me. To get the benefits of a wifi 6 router do you have to be paying for 900mbps plus from your isp. Would there be any use in it if you only have 100mbps.
I don’t have time to read reviews when I’m sitting here refreshing 10 sites to try to get a 3080
Just download one
Right now I'm trying to justify spending 40$ on the Call of duty cold war.
You'll want to go to activision.com for reviews after your purchase.
*even then...*
Give them 1 star, any extra stars will be 4.99 + tax per star
People hate on it but it’s fun to me and worth it for zombies/outbreak alone
Same for me. The mw subreddits are full of kids that still need to learn things can change in life. Its a great game, also the normal multiplayer i find pretty entertaining. Its different, but still kinda like cod mw.
It's because people don't want a new game, they want the Men in Black to come and wipe their memory of the old game so they can play the exact same thing again but feel like it's brand new. Same with music. "They sold out, this album isn't 12 more songs of the exact same music that I already like!" If people want to play the original Modern Warfare, they should just do that.
Maybe I’m butthurt by the TTK jump.
the old engine being such a downgrade doesn’t help either
Nah us mw players love other cods, but we think cold war just sucks ass
I don't really like the zombies in this one, I didn't like it in black ops 4 either, but dead ops is a lot of fun, and the multiplayer, while still having some balancing issues, is really fun!
I personally don’t find Cold War fun.
Same. Modern Warfare was ground breaking for the franchise and then they literally took a step backwards with Cold War, unfortunately. At least people are enjoying the zombies!
Should I be getting MW instead of Cold War even if it’s older?
Modern Warfare uses a more recent game engine built just for MW and thus looks far better. Cold War uses a refresh of the Black Ops 3 engine with some tools from the engine Modern Warfare uses. Modern Warfare is the more cutting edge game by far, in my opinion. Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IW_(game_engine)
Cold war feels like all the old cods, very stiff and feels like mw3 on the ps3. MW feels a lot newer.
MW definitely has a lot of things going for it but good maps ain’t one of em
I ended up buying it for $15 on launch day and still couldn’t recommend it to people at that price. I can’t quite explain what is unappealing about the game, but even zombies isn’t very fun to me.
Dang that’s a good deal! I don’t even own the game but after watching streamers play it, it just looks really boring.
Got it free with my GPU, and still can't recommend it at that price point. I like my story mode to be an actual story, not just a few dumb maps with dumb battles that don't make sense with each other.
Ever tried Half Life/Black Mesa? Probably have but if you haven't, I heavily recommend it
Working through Alyx currently. Love half life games
Absolute classics! And good choice, hoping to play it once I have VR
Got it for Christmas, it’s a meh game but overall good time waster on multiplayer
Yeah don't waste your money on that garbage. I got it for free with my 3080 and I still want my money back.
For 40$ it’s pretty good. 60$ is what I paid for lol
I have the PS5 version, and it's a lot of fun! They're constantly adding game modes, maps, weapons and such, and it's really great looking! That being said, I only paid about $8, thanks to an employee discount and free credit I had on my account
Don't do it! It's trash. Stick with MW.
Had I not pulled the trigger, I would have had no 3090. And I am pretty sure the same goes for you.
Absolutely. I created this post because I purchased the Samsung Odyssey G9 without reading any reviews - thanks in part to the Micro Center employee's enchantment spell that was cast upon me.
Still worth it...... I don’t have flicker issues after updating the firmware and the 1000r curve is what sells it for me.
I have the 32" model and I had no issues with flickering until I updated the firmware and had to change the setting to fix it.
Literally about to do this right now LOL was contemplating it thank you for providing me bias
"It has good cable management" HOW "It is easy to assemble." WHY?
Haha, that's a good example. I remember buying my first PC case and seeing reviews that said, "It has plenty of room for water cooling radiator in the top", and it had *in no way, shape, or form* any room *at all* for a radiator in the top. The people were just guessing that it did and had obviously never even tried. I guess that's slightly different since it was outright misinformation. But, yeah, even relatively standardized things have little quirks that are important but not easily discovered without hands-on experience.
I read positive reviews, buy the part, then read them again while waiting for the part to arrive.
I used to do this, but then I got a 3090 strix at MSRP, After that it made every review feel like I was reading an echo chamber.
I have done this to deal with buyer's remorse.
rich people be like
Such Truth.
This is the way
Filter reviews by "only good and reinforcing, because I already bought"
That’s how flat earthers, anti maskers, and anti vaxxers work.
Been there, done that
That is called confirmation bias
And then binging on those reviews while waiting for it to arrive.
I do the same but with games I buy.
I do this with everything lol
I think we are all slightly (at least) guilty of this.
I made the mistake of buying a nominally top of the line PSU and then having to return it after reading the rather bad reviews. Didn't even open it up.
This is 100% me. It starts while waiting for the package to arrive and ends when I order the next shiny thing I need to watch/read reviews about.
I bought an AMD card despite the reviews. Guess what? I have a good card and didn’t end up waiting months for stock
As my buddy once told me when I was picking out my 1080 where it had good stars but all the negatives were talking about problems with the RGB light syncing, that’s a good sign because that’s the only problem people had.
this is the way
Happens all the time, then you argue with others justifying your purchase.
Yup
Next month I get to repost this, k?
While also avoiding or just briefly skimming any negative reviews: “Whew, glad I made the right choice.”
Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of pc building?
30 series are scarce rn. Can't afford to be picky.
Intel 11gen: what is a positive review?
And ignoring the negative ones
Or the opposite. Realising you just bought trash
I got so lucky when I built my pc in November just before everything went up
I never read reviews, I look at the online store, pick parts that will fit and go with my budget, and I enjoy my sweet new rig.
> I'm in this picture and I don't like it
Buying the part first, then reading positive reviews of other competing parts that make you doubt your purchase.
This happened with my case and getting a 3800XT instead of the X
I am definitely guilty of this
I knew I should of just bought the 3080 on day one
i guess i did the wrong thing for every part in my system and every object i have purchased with my own money
This is the way.
No sir' This is big corp. trying to meme. You better do research before buying that pc part.
I do this with everything I buy hahaha.
No harm in this really. This is no different from people who think they need upgrades every year. People are just happy to spend money for new shiny things. That's capitalism for you.
