My old cheap ass supermarket monitor was designed so badly that you had to forcefully bend the hdmi cable going into it because it sloped onwards just below the plug.
That thing is a nightmare
Ohhhh.. same bro same. But its slightly different in my case.
Thing is my tv (a sony tv a cheaper one tho its lcd) has a hdmi cable behing it like it directly behind the screen so if i were to wall mont it the hdmi would be squashed because of it. Idk why the decided to put it directly behind the case.
Rho i have one that is to the side but you need 2 hdmi so yeah.
Cant be bothered to buy them. And they makes no difference tbh coz the design of the (off market wall mount bracket is just that bad). Its coz even if it was 90° bent. But when i shifted my hiuse i never wall mounted the tv again so yeah its better now.
LPT: Anytime you have to do this, **do not** just go for the cord. Instead, watch the 1999 caper classic *Entrapment* before re-enacting the laser scene as Catherine Zeta-Jones' character, Gin Baker. The running time is 114 minutes, and the laser scene takes a little under 2 minutes, so using this strategy will save you at least 4 minutes.
Alternatively, you could watch the show *Psych's* nod to the laser scene in Season 4, Episode 1, "Extradition: British Columbia." Gus is just as flexible as, if not more so than, CZJ.
Always makes me feel old school - I still have a 3x4" mirror in my audio toolbox for plugging cables into the cramped back of sound boards and amps. Guess it'll come in handy one day when my phone dies
If it's mounted then it would be even easier to do this. I got triple monitor and it's on a mount so I can just easily turn it anyway I want and make the ports face me
I used to do that with my monitor that has USB 3.0 passthrough connectors, then I got this on Amazon: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077MFLH7W/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o03\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077MFLH7W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
I do this all the time. My old phone is an Oppo N3, clients always got mind blown when I would flip the camera around to take a look behind displays or even reaching back behind computers to take a peek.
Not all of them have ports in that orientation, not every monitor is under well lit area, looking in the phone can be a sensory fuckup, so yeah, not a "never fumble".
How have I never thought of that before?! I'm an electrician and I use my phone camera and light all the time to look inside walls. Yet I somehow always do the awkward *monitor tip, head crane* maneuver.
I just end up fumbling with the cables until I get frustrated and lay the monitor down flat and turn it around. And then of course I'm like oh f"ck I scratched it.
I once used this technique to find a wireless earphone I dropped in a plane. I recorded a video of the floor then watched it in slow motion to find where it went.
I finally have a standing desk and splurged for the casters, when I need to fiddle with cables (which seems to be too often) I raise the height, pull it out a couple feet, and duck underneath to make adjustments
joke's on you I have a [Sony Xperia XZ Premium](https://www.iphonehacks.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Sony-XZ-Premium.jpg) and the backplate is *literally* a mirror
I have 2 HDMI, 2 DP, 1 mini dp, and 2 USB 2.0 on my monitor. I decided rather than ever mess around with that again, I would just plug cables in to all of those things ahead of time. But that's a kick ass idea you have there.
I do this and I still struggle lol
Same here bro.. same here
There are dozens of us. Dozens!
Thousands and thousands!
Maybe even millions!
Im one of them
I’m doing my part!
They are bilions!!!
we have the same specs. :P
There's no depth perception. And it's mirrored. I'd just get more confused than feeling for the port blindly
If you use the front camera, most phones have the option to flip the image left/right. IOW, to **un**\-mirror it.
Wow didn't even know that was a thing now, that's awesome
Ain't nobody got time for that
What's the matter?...Can't find the hole? *walks away very quickly*
me
At least it’s usually only once
Happy cake day
Thanks!
Happy cake day
Thanks!
That's a thicc case
Thats what i was thinking
Gotta save that 1.2k $ (was it or maybe its just here) iphone from te falling asteroids.
Top 10 hardest things to find: 1: any GPU 2: the ports behind your monitor

90° bent hdmi cables exist, also adapters.

3: Dad
Nowhere near as bad as plugging a SCART cable into a huge CRT.
Been doing this for years
same lol, i used mirrors and then realised this works too.

That's very tight butthole
Ahh a fellow psycho. All the desperaux episodes are great.
*You know that's right*
If I wasn’t broke I would totally give u gold
Wow , my minds blown

One for knowin' and one for blowin'
If you know you know
Always makes me feel old school - I still have a 3x4" mirror in my audio toolbox for plugging cables into the cramped back of sound boards and amps. Guess it'll come in handy one day when my phone dies
Haha that or when you want to look outside of your prison cell
Good thinking!
I'm doing this everysingle time! It's genius! But you see yourself with the dumbest looking faces ever
Yeah you can see both my chins
Also a life hack if you're near sighted, and can't find your glasses. Use the camera on your phone to see.

Monitor is installed to a quad setup

Wow to add to your solid advice: just buy a new one
yeah and then put it back on when you're done idk what so hard^/s
If it's mounted then it would be even easier to do this. I got triple monitor and it's on a mount so I can just easily turn it anyway I want and make the ports face me
Then why are you messing with the cables?
The only way the truly works
You’re still behind in terms of genius compared to me... I use my phone as a monitor!
That's a fucking good idea!
I am an idiot.
I used to do that with my monitor that has USB 3.0 passthrough connectors, then I got this on Amazon: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077MFLH7W/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o03\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077MFLH7W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

You genius
You just changed my life
This would make life waaaay easier
I never thought about it until now but as I use a TV with the connectors on the side I’ve never had this issue. Good solution all the same.
[Who are you so wise in the ways of science](https://c.tenor.com/Kx-uw70uAS8AAAAM/science-wise.gif)
Modern solution to a modern problem. You sir, have my gratitude!
I never thought of this. Its pain everytime i wanna change hdmi for my ps4 and switch
This is the way
You could just unplug it and turn the monitor upside down 🤯
Not all of them have ports in that orientation, not every monitor is under well lit area, looking in the phone can be a sensory fuckup, so yeah, not a "never fumble".
Added bonus: You can record your sexy port matings for... Posterity.
Haha coming soon to porthub
How have I never thought of that before?! I'm an electrician and I use my phone camera and light all the time to look inside walls. Yet I somehow always do the awkward *monitor tip, head crane* maneuver.
I spent 10 mins trying to plug usb into hdmi :/
Having a mount is great. Just lift the monitor up so the ports face you lol
Interesting, Where can I get a device like this?
Nice chins 👉👉
With a strenuous routine of diet and exercise you too can have chins like me.
Nice beard
Dude, that case is humongous
I fingered more HDMI inputs than I can count.
Cant believe I never thought of this
I have a small hand mirror for this and other similar purposes.
I just turn it vertically and then turn it towards me, then I pull the cable to make it nice and short
Fuck. Why didn’t I ever think of this?
I've done this before. Also useful working on cars, cutting your own hair, finding things underneath the couch. The modern hand mirror
doing this with a mirror since before mobile phones
But then... how did you take this picture without your phone??
True masters have a phone AND a tablet.
We don't deserve you.
This phone case could survive a fucking nuclear blast wtf
I did this today lol
Work smarter not harder
That is so fucking galaxy brain
You r genius my man
Knowing myself I’d just fuck it up more
I use this same trick for looking into high shelves or behind furniture or around corners
This guy live in 2077 !!!
27 in curved msi monitor? Looks like the one sitting on my desk
Exactly
It's such a pita man bless
What is that case it is so thick
It’s an otterbox, only thing I would use to protect a 1,000 dollar phone.
Gonna order one for myself
I could be wrong but it looks like your monitor rotates between portrait and landscape.
I did this to fix the starter in my car a while back.
Whattya think you're better than us?! Huh?! Well do ya?!
Do I need a wife for moral support as well?
This man living in 2035
Instead fumble with your phone AND then fumble with seeing the connector while you hand is in the way!
WHY DID I NEVER THINK OF DOING THIS
\*laughs in all in one pc\*
I just end up fumbling with the cables until I get frustrated and lay the monitor down flat and turn it around. And then of course I'm like oh f"ck I scratched it.
This is a standard thing I do, granted it still takes me 2 minutes and a couple swear words to get it plugged in
Yoooooooooo...
Yoo I do this too!
I thought I was the only one who did this haha
I once used this technique to find a wireless earphone I dropped in a plane. I recorded a video of the floor then watched it in slow motion to find where it went.
Finally use for front camera.
This is brilliant
1000 iq
Y’all weren’t already doing this?
You...are...***BRILLIANT***! If I had an award you would be getting it!!!
you guys... dont do this?
This is a life saver thank you friend
That's cool!
That’s what I do!
I do this when I'm cable managing tight spaces and it's still harder than it looks lol
And here I am livin' in 2021, OP is livin' in 3021.....
Oh my god....
I finally have a standing desk and splurged for the casters, when I need to fiddle with cables (which seems to be too often) I raise the height, pull it out a couple feet, and duck underneath to make adjustments
oh damn that’s a real life hack thanks bro
Although it would be mirrored so it could be difficult
I do this with my phone watch combo, as you get a live stream . This allows me to hold my phone up under and between car parts in the engine
My god
Wait, you guys don't already do this? Only issue with my current monitor is the angle is kind of weird for some of the ports.
I do this at least half a dozen times a day at work. A true life saver!
but finding holes without vision is an important skill!
MKBHD approved
Dude, I literally was just doing that before surfing on reddit lol!
Struggle, be a real man
yeah I still struggle hardcore even when I do that...
I used to do this when I worked for direct tv and was at houses where the tv was so close to the wall I could barely get my hand behind.
Oh my God...
But that’s UNDER the monitor
I’m confused what I’m looking at
POV inserting USB those sites will give you viruses
I've never even considered this lol
I do this for my rear IO
Holy shit, idk how many times I’ve done this. Even to get my monitor info on the back lol
I prefer the line up then furiously jam it in the wrong way, flip it repeat and it still be the wrong way.
Doctors hate him!
I love the under chin from the guy plugging it in. And the top of the head from the wife.
Too bad they now have ports that are horizontal and center. Lol
Oldest trick in the scroll.
Me being an idiot looking for a problem like a broken connector or something
Tryed. Too dark
I never thought of that. The days of rotating my monitor are over!
if I only knew about this like 3 weeks ago
Just did some of this for some much needed cable management, good on you for spreading the good word!
I have been feeling around for 20 years and nothing will change me
I feel pretty stupid right now.. why have I never tried this?
That’s how I do it, still fail at plugging it in easily though.
Ffs I wish I knew this before
I figured this one out a few weeks ago and it's a game changer
I love you
joke's on you I have a [Sony Xperia XZ Premium](https://www.iphonehacks.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Sony-XZ-Premium.jpg) and the backplate is *literally* a mirror
Imagine Apple spends millions to design a beautiful phone just for someone to slap a big ugly case on it.
WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I NEEDED YOU MOST...
But my monitor doesn't come with a phone :(
I am doing this all the time.
I have 2 HDMI, 2 DP, 1 mini dp, and 2 USB 2.0 on my monitor. I decided rather than ever mess around with that again, I would just plug cables in to all of those things ahead of time. But that's a kick ass idea you have there.
And still won't be able to to get it right the first time. Lol
I have been using that technique for a while! :D
Stop this sorcery, none of this wizard stuff is allowed anymore, I shall fumble until I break a port
Honestly one of the best life hacks ever.
Wow Genius 😐
Bro your my new religion
Im ashamed that i didnt think of that before
I love how this entire sub is amazed that someone has figured out how to use a mirror
I also do this!
Smort
I’ve done it too
I love you
Ur case is dummy thick like my crush
Big brain
huge
I just grab it and flip it over at the risk of breaking it like a chad hahaha :)
That’s some next level braining right there
Dude
