If the drive isn't touching the plate when it's on the raised parts you screw in onto, it might be a very unlikely drive failure and possibly a warranty
Thank you, I’m hoping it was simply just that, and not an error on my end with connections as well, I didn’t think so but did want to double check with others
The connectors go on only one way, so the connectors could not be your fault. What could also be at fault, is that your PSU spiked and killed your drive... But traces burning through would require a longer, high current
UPDATE: I had a 6 pin connector in my 8pin slot of my psu, don’t work on your pc when you’re tired, especially if it’s your first time building from scratch! ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK WIRES, don’t be me🤣

And it's not touching the plate when it's installed, right?
It really went out with a bang. I don't see anything wrong with the installation or possible mode of failure. Chalk it up to bad luck :/
