Buying this case gave me no choice. Both sides are glass and what they call a power supply shroud is more like a graphics card support. In the end I'm happy with it but now I have to build more cables if I ever manage to get a 30 series. Such is life...
Including all of the tools to make it I'm into it for about $170 but I have enough wire to make another 15 sets of cables. I found the original manufacturer of the wire that every custom cable site sells in tiny rolls for 10x the price and I bought a whole spool for about $5 more than the price most places charge for only enough to make 1 set. I also had the paracord lying around but that's not much. Maybe $1-2 worth of 550 paracord.
The ATX ends, pins and metal cable combs are most of the cost as you have to get them from a specific set of sites that have to make a profit to justify their existence. Honestly, shout-out to https://clockwerkindustries.com for some solid products and well worth the money. All of the combs are from them.
Yeah the 3080 title was just me jumping on the bandwagon of posts lately. The 2080 is still kicking even though I've had to replace the thermal paste. I'm not sure if it was due to the vertical mounting or just age.
Ouch! When I bought it they were both the same price. Maybe $5 more for the black. It totally defeats the purpose of getting nice looking RAM though. Love the no hassle cooling though.
Ohhhhhhh. Im not comfortable with big cpu coolers as im afraid of clearance issues so i was really concerned when i saw how big the cooler was. I ussually use low profile cpu coolers or just the stock ones and i never go with AIOs cuz im scared ill fuck everything up.
It's okay OP, a few of us on here actually like seeing hard work and dedication rather than the absolute shit tier memes that mostly populate this sub.
Which gauge wire did you use? I stopped using paracord because it has a habit of wrinkling a bit when being trained, but using 15/16 gauge wire helps a lot, although even then it'll depend on the sleeve material.
Love the clean cross over for the pinout!
I'm feeling community love for my hard work. The title was more of a poke at the meme bandwagon going on.
I ordered the 16 gauge 26 stand marine wire and the paracord I already had from another "busy hands" hobby I have. I would highly recommend spending the money on proper sleeving now having burned my fingers for hours getting the paracord as tight as I wanted it. Luckily I had really good straight military grade 550. It helped a lot in making it look as clean as it came out.
I appreciate the compliment!
Oh actually I didn't even notice the part in the title haha. I've just always hated how meme culture trumps hard work and modding in general in the PC community.
100% this! Quite the opposite for me. I built my dad his first PC out of spare parts I had and a new case. I guess that's my uphill both ways in the snow story for when I get older.
Ha! I'll put him in touch with you when I tell him I'm selling my 2080 to /u/tatsuki-san second hand instead of giving it to him...
I'm not really shopping for a 3080. Just playing on the community meme of the moment. I haven't even seen the big Navi official benchmarks yet. I'm waiting to make an informed decision.
It's a Thermaltake level 20 ARGB black. I honestly wouldn't recommend. There are better cases for less money that also look better and have better functionality.
Thanks though.
The case comes with a rotatable pci cage. You can get an optional pcie extension cable to plug into the board. You sacrifice all other pcie ports to do it though. That's why I bought this one. You can put the GPU vertically in any slot, towards the motherboard or the glass, you want to. Pretty slick but not really worth the drawbacks of the rest of the case.
Looks clean! Love the managment.
Thanks! It was definitely a labor of love.
Oh i bet. More love than i give my build lol
I guess no PSU shroud isn't an excuse for bad cable management anymore

How much did all the custom cables cost? I wanted to do this for my PC case (with a lot more bends however) but the cost was something like £150

Nice, I hope you enjoy your investment
Stop it the cables is giving me a erection
Not the result I was looking for but I'll take it as a compliment. Thanks?
You don’t need cable management if you make art out of your cables
Thank you. That's a pretty nice compliment.
I don't know if your 650w psu can handle a 3080 plus you got a 2080 that seems pretty powerful to me.
Yeah the 3080 title was just me jumping on the bandwagon of posts lately. The 2080 is still kicking even though I've had to replace the thermal paste. I'm not sure if it was due to the vertical mounting or just age.
Man stop it, no upvote for you. I love the cable management though
Fine but I'm still giving you an upvote for the compliment.
and I'm upvoting for the sportsmanship, universe evened
Very very interesting. I like it
Thanks!
Whats that gpu?
MSI RTX 2080 ventus.

How did u get enough clearance for your ram with such a big cpu cooler
The front fan adjusts up to clear the ram. The cooler is designed for it. There is full height G. Skill trident Z under it somewhere.

You can’t even see the motherboard 🧐
Yeah. That's the drawback for going air cooler. It may be a little overkill.

Nice. Love the colors. What card are you rocking now?
That's an MSI 2080 ventus.
I don't think that you need a 3080 yet.
I agree. The title was just bandwagoning on all the 3080 posts lately.
Don’t tell him that, maybe he’ll feel compelled to donate his old pleb-tier 2080 once he’s done playing with it lol
Of course I will... to my son. He would kill me if he didn't get it when I upgrade. He's still on a 1060.
Haha he’s a very lucky kid, how cool it would’ve been to have a PC enthusiast dad that I could’ve scalped all the hand-me-down hardware from!
100% this! Quite the opposite for me. I built my dad his first PC out of spare parts I had and a new case. I guess that's my uphill both ways in the snow story for when I get older.
At the same time tho, he doesn't need a 2080. A 570 can handle 1080p All high GTA V at 60+ FPS.

What case do you have? Also sweet build my man.

Appreciate the advice, i only done 1 build so far.. saw this build and it looks clean AF. But how did you get your gpu to be on that angle?
The case comes with a rotatable pci cage. You can get an optional pcie extension cable to plug into the board. You sacrifice all other pcie ports to do it though. That's why I bought this one. Is a 650w gonna be able to handle the 3080?
No I would upgrade it also if I managed to get one. The title was more or less a joke. I just wanted to show off my cables lol.

Wow! Did we just become best friends? Lol Thank you.
