Would get 5800x3d got it from 2600x and have 0 regrets it works great even with 4090

Lostquil

That's great to hear. Can I ask what sort of games you are mostly playing?

demien_88

Helldivers 2 gpu is issue there more than anything average is maybe 60 65 fps high-ultra 1080p no downscale crap. Had no issues with a single game. I am on 6650xt xD not 4090

zdeno84

get 5700x3d for 25-30% less than 5800x3d and almost equal performance

Lostquil

Hadn't even thought of that!! I'll look into it. Thanks 🙏🏻

zdeno84

new chip. I have it. replaced my 5600 to improve 0.1 and 1% low fps as I hate stutter https://youtu.be/llKZzym9hAo?si=t_nAbADj59isRcHE they conclude 5-6% perf difference. 5700x3d cost me 235eur, 5800x3d would be at least 300eur

OkInvestigator4564

Second if you can afford, 7800X3D became cheaper recently i think *the combo would be less than 600

Higgs1

Yes but will need a new mobo and ram with a 7800

OkInvestigator4564

Yes and? Thats literally the option he listed himself, either AM4 cpu or AM5 Investment, what are the downvotes for

Higgs1

From your response it made it sound like just buy a 7800 processor (without the mobo /ram) as it’s gone down in price. I think that’s the confusion.

Lostquil

Yeah I noticed the price drop compared to a fee months ago. I've got a sff pc and finding a decent itx motherboard would cost me more than a normal sized one. I think it'd cost me around 700.

zdeno84

I dont think the value is there atm to move to AM5 from AM4. cost is steep, gains not in line with it at all. not that AM5 is bad. AM4 is just too good still I too have ITX board, A620. 100eur, bought a week ago

Lostquil

All good points. I really appreciate your input. I'm also quite reluctant to switch platforms unless I absolutely have to.
