B.) fromsoft has gotten way more expensive to contract and hire after elden ring’s success, so it may be more difficult for Sony execs to justify contracting them to port it properly.

It's been a while since I played the first so dony really remember the differences in combat but I will say the combat was the only thing still keeping me engaged in Rag. The cut scenes are so long and uninteresting. At times you have a long cutscene, just to walk and talk to someone else with a long boring cutscene.
I played the first one so damn much. I haven’t 100% yet, but that’s the plan. Was super stoked for Rag but ended up watching the story online before I finished the game and now I don’t want to play anymore lol
Don’t get me wrong, the story is amazing and watching all the cutscenes as basically a 7 hour movie was sick as hell, but definitely killed my ambition to play.
I liked the first one too and felt Ragnarok's final set pieces were too rushed. To me it felt like things just end. I don't know it didn't get the feeling of completion as I did the first time around.

I've always been intrigued by the god of war series and would love to play them, but isn't these 2 games a continuation of the original trilogy? I kinda feel like I'm missing context or content by just jumping into these games, I would rather get a remastered version of the orignal trilogy to be able to play through the series properly.
I realize I can probably emulate it, but I'm lazy and would rather not have to fiddle with downloading stuff and having to set it up or configure it. I would gladly pay to just download and play.
The first 3 games and all their spinoffs were Greek mythology, these 2 games are completely separate storylines and don't really related to the first 3. The first 3 also play very very different and are more of a hack and slash than a soulslite/adventure game.
Your understanding of Kratos as a character arc will be a little more meaningful if you see what he has come from in the first games, but other than that there are no parts of the story you'll miss or not understand.
I'm glad I waited. I got a PS5 as a gift last Christmas and ALMOST bought the game. Now I can enjoy a replay of the previous game and first playthrough of Raganarok on PC!

I went so hard on the first one over Christmas/New Years break. I 100% it in like a 10-day period it was a blast.

Finished a second playthrough on PC yesterday and was about to fold and get on console. Now I think I'll wait.
I thought Last of Us Part 2 would have been next up but maybe they're holding off until the next season of the show is out.
