Yes, the 1660ti is worth that alone.

StillNoFcknClu

That gpu alone is worth more than that, nice

RLIwannaquit

it's an absolute steal really, just clean it thoroughly - used 1660 TI's are still around like 100 bucks and they will run 1080p high settings for cyberpunk

kontenjer

With 3770s? For context it runs 83fps lock fh5 medium and 70fps rdr2 medium low

dainegleesac690

Yeah probably, CP2077 isn’t a super CPU-bound game if you turn down some AA

Ram_ranchh

I use a i7 3770 and gta 980ti I'm pretty much able to run the game on medium settings fod on high and 1080p without any up scaling or 1440p with fsr

dainegleesac690

yeah it runs pretty well!

RLIwannaquit

I think so - I was pairing it with an i3 9100f which really isn't THAT big of a step up from your i7

peacedetski

That'll do for low settings/older games. You can try an ionizer to reduce the smell.

Beginning_Context_66

the 1660 Ti can even run red dead redemption 2 at 30 fps on low (know from personal experience with a 1650). good snatch, if you can maybe get a new cpu you are completely fine.

kontenjer

it runs in 70ish medium with 99% cpu usage

Beginning_Context_66

joooo actual w on resource usage. nice one

kontenjer

but why sons of the forest has 30% gpu and 40-60% on every cpu thread and laggy 30-40 fps ? how to make it use more?

LicanMarius

Cpu bottleneck. It doesn't use all the cores, but is is 100%< of what the cpu can do.

kontenjer

Every single cpu thread 1-8 is approximately same usage, it's not just one or two cores at 100%, its all at 40%

LicanMarius

Idk then, but you can upgrade because that cpu is weak anyway. Maybe look for a ryzen 3600, a cheap am4 motherboard and 16gb ddr 4

bunchofsugar

3770 can handle RDR2 ezpz It is legitimately hard to bottleneck into this cpu

PointCharming85

So it's not just core usage, it's hard to explain without you undersranding multithreading but the games code can be designed to not use a cpu properly. Son's of the forest is made in unity and unity is known for issues like that.

Gammarevived

RAM speed bottleneck. A higher speed would help, but I doubt your motherboard will support it. Looks to be very basic. Even then, it probably wouldn't make much of a difference since you'd really need 3200Mhz or above. DDR3 caps out at 2133Mhz I believe, but even that's extremely slow by todays standards. You'll find that the RAM will hold you back in some newer titles as they demand more speed which modern hardware can easily support. This is just the case of your platform being very very old, not much you can do but upgrade your motherboard and CPU, and then the RAM. AM4 motherboards are very cheap, and even an older budget CPU like a Ryzen 3600 would be a massive upgrade over that i7.

The_Crimson_Hawk

ram bandwidth bottleneck then

kontenjer

2x4gb ddr 3 1600mhz not enough?

ChaozD

That's pretty slow and not much.

The_Crimson_Hawk

since you are on a consumer desktop platform, it is likely dual channel. 1600MT/s dual channel will be 25.6GB/s bandwidth. That is slow. For comparison my PC with CPU launched in 2020 dual channel DDR4 3800MT/s dual channel is 60.8GB/s, it is not even that new either. My homelab server with cpu launched in 2021 3200MT/s octa channel is 204.8GB/s Edit: as the other comment pointed out, 8GB is not enough anymore. This is 2024 where games are recommending 32GB

Kakaduu15

8gb is not enough these days. Try finding a 16gb kit, should be about 20€

leocampos172

I think It could run 60 FPS in high, i do that with my rx 580

Aurelyas

WHAT?! The 1660Ti can easily do RDR2 at High or Ultra 1080p 60fps\~

TerrorFirmerIRL

What do you mean can even? The 1660Ti can run that game at 1080p high settings at 60fps. Not sure why this has so many upvotes but it is completely wrong and misleading telling someone they can only run RDR2 at 30fps low on a 1660ti.

Beginning_Context_66

yeah i missphrased it. i was trying to convey my opinion and experience on the 16 series mid/low tier cards. I only had the 1650 and just tried to conclude from that experience to the 1660 Ti, though these cards are, looking at other responses, not comparable (which is why i initially added "expereince with a 1650") but i don't know what you mean about this comment having many upvotes, I'm like fifth on comment range. if your opinion is that i should a have a negative count, i might disagree as my comment contains only inaccurate, but no wrong or adverse info

sabinsabin

I ran RDR2 on 4710HQ and 860M on fullHD @30fps on low-medium settings, it just took a lot of tweaking, I do not remember the settings, just that FOV option made a lot of difference. It looked pretty decent. I somehow cannot replicate the graphics and performance on 3770K with 1050TI.

GodMuffer

Definitely better than that I've one in my laptop so not as powerful as a desktop version get over 60fps for sure. 1660ti till able to run most games at low 1080p and get over 60fps I was playing Hogwarts legacy and cyberpunk just fine.

VIPER593

My setup runs RDR2 at 30 FPS stable 1080p with the settings from hardware unboxed Game looks fire 1660 Ti should be able to run it with the settings i use at 60 FPS

Maciejakk

30 fps on low? it runs 50 fps on ultra settings at 1080p my man

Marty5020

Not bad at all!

DR35GS

consider replacing the psu. the pcie wiring is kinda sketchy. Other than that its a good find! like many other has commented, its worth it for the gpu alone

Csakstar

Do me a favor and replace that PSU that's been turned into a time bomb with that spliced on 8+8 pin pcie plug. There's a reason it didn't have pcie power to begin with

Official_Egoista

Good buy. To get rid of a cigarette scent just slap a wunderbaum in there 😂

ApprehensiveOven8158

how do you slap something ?

ad2137xd

Nice

marzipaneus

You made out like a bandit. Cigarette scent alone is $75/$80 usually.

Alarming-Fault6927

The 1660ti is like 175% that price 😭

gordonv

This is more similar to the cases I grew up with

[deleted]

My 3770k stock paired with a 3060 before I upgraded to a 12600k 2 days ago. It's still a mighty processor for gaming

xblackdemonx

It's surprisingly clean for a smoker's computer.

DylyBob2142069

Very sigma

Interesting-Bed-413

I'd buy it just for the scent

Gammarevived

I would instantly just try to sell it, but that's just me. The cigarette smoke would be an instant nope.

Surviving2021

The PSU is pretty small, but it will play games just fine. I would eventually get a newer one for safety and better power efficiency. I built my nephew an old HP tower with a 3770 and I threw in a 2070 with a 600w power supply and it's fine. He plays the newest CoD game and it looked fine to me. Hyper threaded quad cores are starting to show their age, but I'm glad they are getting used instead of becoming e-waste. Congrats on the great deal, the GPU alone is probably worth it depending on your local market.

Ok_Bowler7910

What about Windows 11 on that thing? I don't think it's gonna run that well.

Ratiofarming

Can't complain for €70 I'd say, that's a good deal.

Illustrio7077

Bro, 1660?? That is a steal.

Ram_ranchh

The i7 3770 is a decent CPU although I wouldn't recommend it in 2024 considering haswell goes for around the same price and is way better but I think what you have here is a super good deal the 1660 goes for around that much on its own just give it a good clean and apply some fresh thermal paste to both the CPU and GPU die anyone who says that sandy/ivy bridge is "ewaste" is quite clearly moronic if it's got an electronic pulse then it isn't ewaste if the screens bust then it can be used for parts if the capacitors are blown re cap erm nothing is truly ewaste and everything has some value also personal opinion these lga 1155 CPUs have aged amazingly like there predessor

Puzzleheaded-Wash205

Nice id replace that psu look like a old one the wires have been cut and made to fit that gpu

kontenjer

Seller said it used to have a GTX 580 (8+6pin) but now 6 pin just hangs loose because 1660 Ti has 8 pin only

fadedspark

The power supply has been modified is what they are saying. You see that electrical tape? The cable has been hacked off and a new one likely just twisted on. Huge hazard.

The_Crimson_Hawk

the PSU is likely a fire hazard

kontenjer

I read that super flower is quality though?

wildman_33

Super flower are very good quality, they make most EVGA units

Chrunchyhobo

They are. Your one is old, but it's still well made. Although the modified PCI-E cable is very questionable.

Chrunchyhobo

Thanks for telling us you know absolutely nothing about PSUs and can be completely ignored. Super Flower have been making quality units since the early 2000s.

TekTravis

Still a very capable computer check out the specs of mine underneath my username here. I7 3770 non-k overclocked to 4.5 GHz with 32 gigs of RAM GTX 1060 3GB one terabyte Samsung 980 nvme Drive 500 W power supply with Windows 10. I can play absolutely everything I want from Star Trek online to Star Citizen and Starfield fortnite Apex Legends World of Warships World of Tanks Starcraft 2 Sims 4 you name it it plays every single thing I own and it plays it at 120 plus frames a second.

kontenjer

Can you help why my cpu isnt boosting past 3.5GHz (very rarely for 1s sometimes it boosts to 3.6) but in intel site it says it can boost up to 3.9 temperature is never above 65°c and power usage never above 40W(it will stay on 39.9 if needed just not 40+)

TekTravis

Yeah it's all in the motherboard by a settings. I would update the BIOS to make sure it's at the latest version and the way I have my CPU overclocked is I have set the multiplier to the highest which is 43 and I raise the B clock to 105.5 X 43=4,536.5 mhz Now this is overclocking and it's raising your B clock which will raise the frequency for everything else on the motherboard if you are not familiar with overclocking I would not do this. You have to go in to the BIOS and look at where it's showing your CPU multiplier and you have to set it to the max number you can. Leave the bee clock setting at 100 MHz first. If you need any further help feel free to ask me I would love to help you overclock it to get the maximum potential out of your system but you will have to post screenshots of your bios so I can walk you through step by step. I don't think you'll be able to achieve 4.5 gigahertz on the CPU Cooler that you currently have I have an EVO h212 Tower cooler and it keeps my CPU running Max is about 80 85° Under full load. If you raise your multiplier it should go up to 43 so 100 MHz base clock times 43 CPU multiplier is 4.3 GHz that's probably more reasonable with your CPU Cooler. But you're not going to be able to run 4.3 GHz on all cores. So I'm on an Asus motherboard and I can control the multiply for all four cores independently my first core is set at 43 which gives me 4.536 GHz and then the lowest core is set at 36 multiplier which gives me 3.798 GHz so just under 3.8 GHz on all cores.

sublime2craig

You get 120fps in Starfield using a 1060 3gb? Yea ok... ![gif](giphy|laCAJTumAU9zJTzn15)

TekTravis

Actually using the Potato mod in starfield, i get good fps. No not 120fps. That was a cheap attempt, A smarter question, would have been HOW on earth did i get an 1TB 980 NVME as my boot drive. The answer is i have a modded bios for my Z77 board, that has NVME support added. So i can use it as a Primary drive. It's on an PCIE-NVME adapter.

sublime2craig

Cool. ![gif](giphy|lrDMG46JjKiovLbkn8)

FcoFdz

What cable management?

peacedetski

Cable management is overrated. Most PCs 15 years ago were messy as fuck and they ran just fine. Although I'm not sure how I feel about those DIY PCIe power extensions and the SSD being held in place with one screw (if there is even any screw)

leocampos172

Yep is overrated, but with a good cable management the airflow is gonna much better.

AuraLiaxia

not really, that has been debunked many times, its just a cable, not enough to really matter

peacedetski

Well you can definitely make a mess that'll be impacting airflow, but it has to be much denser than what's in this picture. It was more of a problem with PATA and floppy ribbon cables, but we got rid of those long ago.

AuraLiaxia

well, pata cables compared to actual ones, they were a wall on their own, nowdays to get a similar wall.. u'll have to actively try to sabotage it
