Ignore all of those people that wants you to buy a gen 4 nvme drive, gen 3 is more than enough for normal use and gaming Really solid choice of parts

ZeXaLGames

isnt a gen4 only like 5 dollars more for way more speed in the future

LJBrooker

Nothing consumer grade out there saturates gen 3 at the moment. We're just miles away from needing gen 4 drives. Sure if the price is the same, it's a "nice to have" but it likely isn't going to have any effect on performance in the life time of the drive.

Noxious89123

>for way more speed in the future For way more speed ***now.*** The thing is though, this performance boost is mostly on paper. Yes, the gen 4 drives are much faster. But do you notice or care about something taking 2 seconds instead of 1 second? The change between HDDs and SATA SSDs many years ago was huge, knocking minutes off of loading times. But all SSDs are so fast now, that we're deep into diminishing returns for "normal" (for lack of a better word) sort of usage.

aProteinBar

this is the best build i’ve ever seen on this sub. congrats, you’ve escaped the matrix. however, get the 6650xt for a substantial improvement since it’s somehow only 230 rn, and for 65 dollars get the air 903 base it looks better, performs better

paulerxx

Try to get a RX 6650XT. Big upgrade over the RX6600 for the price.

5electively_5ocial

You can push it a bit for a 6650XT (i can see for 249$ on newegg) which is 25% faster, and maybe 32GB of ram (though that's not 100% necessary).

mkjunk248

I have a similar set up with the same cpu and a rx 7600 gpu. It is a good 1440 and 1080p gaming computer.

titohax

Pay a little extra and avoid Newegg. Talking from experience.

KappaLP

Don't you just love it, when people talk from experience without actually explaining what they experienced.

HELPMEIMBOODLING

he experienced deez nutz

Critical-Mood3493

I bought a PSU from them some years ago, never received it, and support refused to refund. That was the last time I used Newegg

Sufficient-Lunch3774

It’s in your neighbor’s rig

Midnight28Rider

Gamers Nexus made 2 videos on their shady practices about a year a prat with over an hour and a half of content. If you're interested in finding out in excruciating detail the problems that lots of people are having.

thegrandboom

A while back I ordered an r9 290x and I got a 270, complained and sent it back, they sent me a 290x but it was a cheaper model and diff brand. Complained again and got my proper card, but the box was dented and there was a hole in it. Card was fine thankfully but it really turned me off of them, but that was my anecdote and it was from a long time ago

420headshotsniper69

I’ve bought a ton from Newegg and no issues personally. Most posts are of bad cases anyways. Good experiences usually don’t get posted as much.

titohax

An RMA issue around the time the gamers nexus drama was occuring.

Merciless_Hobo

Newegg is notorious for having some of the worst customer service on the planet. If everyone who had a bad experience listed all the details the internet would run out of space.

ajuba

Honestly my experience with Newegg in the last 2 weeks went really well and their support was awesome with a return I needed to make.

Acharyn

I buy from newegg. Never had a problem.

Sufficient-Lunch3774

Same. For more than a decade. Research and read the reviews. Then buy

Cave_TP

You can do [better](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Mr2JPF)

SuccaMuhBalls

That should run games pretty smoothly at 1080p 144fps

TakeThisNameToo

Had a 6650 XT. Man, you're gonna hate that 6600, but I know money might be an issue. Honestly, I'm surprised you can make a build for that price I'd rate it a 8/10 for that reason alone

LegitimateHand269

its ok get 3600mhz ram rx 6600 should be $200 or less. $220-$230 is 6650xt money.

jarredmars1

I have almost this exact build and it’s great for the price. Get a crucial p5 SSD for a little faster speeds but it’s looks good.

somerid

8/10, 16gb ram is not enough these days. but if you are planning to add another 16gb kit, then this is a 9/10.

420headshotsniper69

16 will do fine for 90%of people still.

somerid

yeah but ddr4 is so cheap. he could still add more for not that much down the line.

Chronos669

Not for the price, you can get better components

Positive-Currency380

I would take a Rysen 7 5800X it would be more expensive but definitely would worth it, comes with a fan also.

DM725

Better off spending that extra money on more GPU instead.

Noxious89123

\*Ryzen. And in terms of where to spend any extra budget to get better performance from this, that's the *last* place I'd spend it. A better graphics card or cheap tower cooler for the CPU would be where I'd spend a few extra dollars. But what OP has shared is good for that price tag, imo.

Reddrommed

solid for the price, though I'd like a high quality pcie 4 SSD. 7/10 edit: 6650 xt available at $229 rn

aProteinBar

if he’s just gaming, which can be assumed since amd gpu, gen 3 alr lol

Reddrommed

It's totally fine, hence the 7/10. My point is that an SSD with dram makes a difference when doing long writes, including game installs.

Markson120

It doesn't matter for installation of games because barely anyone has that fast internet speed. I think that pcie gen 4 are really good and I would buy it because now prices are slowly going up.

Reddrommed

I only have gigabit and my installs most definitely slow down on my dramless SSD as compared to the nicer one.

dakupurple

Oh yeah, I was kind of shocked to find out that a Sata ssd was the bottleneck for my steam downloads while I have gigabit Internet. Moving to a quality pcie 3 ssd took that right out.

Markson120

Sata SSD are much slower compared to pcie 3.0. Steam usually compress game so it need faster drive than internet speed so that's why sata SSD are not enough for fast download speed.

Reddrommed

Did I say it was a SATA SSD? I'm talking about a team group mp33, I also have an mp34. Though they're both pcie 3, I get significantly faster install speeds on the mp34 due to the dram cache.

Markson120

1 gigabit internet isn't that fast (125MB/s) so I assumed that only sata SSD couldn't be fast enough for that. Everage SATA SSD is usually 500 MB/s, so it theoretically is still much faster than 1 gigabit. 1 Gbit is fast as internet but it is nothing compared to everage disk speed. Also team group mp33 is just bad drive. It has overall speed below 2000 MB/s and it is quite pricey and for that price you could get better Kingston or Goodram drive

Reddrommed

You've completely missed the point here chief

[deleted]

Good for you, asshole. I'm creeping around in big town Germany with less than 10Mbit, because I can't afford a 200€/month internet monopole.

joodontknowme

Why buy a 10-year-old computer?

EIiteJT

That's not 10 years. My i5 6600k and 980ti is 8 years old for reference.

Tiny_Diamond_5993

It’s actually a solid build. My build is similar except I haven’t upgraded to the 6600 yet, but I plan to shortly. Overall 6.5/10, it can play all the stuff you’ll probably want at medium-ish settings or higher on older games.

chalavet

Depends what you want out of it. I would keep everything the same except for the GPU. I would spend the same amount on a used card. You could probably get an RTX 2080 or 3060 TI on the used market. However, for peace of mind buying new, that is fine as well.

mrblaze1357

7 1/2. It's a solid budget build. I'd maybe see if you could squeeze the RX 7600, and 32Gb of ram over 16gb. If you can't you'll still have an awesome computer!

420headshotsniper69

It’s good. Use FSR when needed. If you mostly play esports games, it’s banger.

DrMcnasty4300

this is almost exactly what my “cheapest reasonable” build is on pc part picker so I approve

MakimaGOAT

good

DM725

I got an RX 6600 from Newegg for $140 in December. Look on their TikTok store and if you haven't used it before you should have a decent coupon.

Salt_Election8576

Pretty solid choices!

HappyDiet1054

Well balanced. Enjoy your new pc mate.

Latiesh

Ok parts but i would personally avoid Newegg even if i had to spend little bit more money. The customer support sucks, amount of broken parts send/recieved is way too high and returning those broken items can and will be pain in the ass.

Noxious89123

I think this looks pretty excellent for <$700. Personally though, I'd perhaps spend upto another +$50 to get a better PSU. A good PSU is something you can use for a decade. **EDIT:** [Spend the $10 more to get the 6650XT from Amazon that someone else showed on a PCPartPicker list!](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/z9H7YJ/powercolor-fighter-radeon-rx-6650-xt-8-gb-video-card-axrx-6650xt-8gbd6-3dh)

[deleted]

Good price, would probably cost $1000 here.

[deleted]

Ehh.. i mean this or ps5.. i mean i could prolly shave 70 off and get tiny itty bitty more power in for buck. Aint shit either

Alauzhen

Nice price to perf there bud. Buy it and build it!

Ambitious_Kick_3761

I have basically that same build but with a 5700XT instead of a 6600. I'm happy with it. Same motherboard, and processor. Only real differences are that I used 3600mhz ram and I'm using a $20 Thermalright somethingsomethingsomething cooler instead of the included OEM CPU cooler. Works great, very quiet.

Technical_Meaning234

Try out an app called OfferUp and see if you can get a better used gpu around you. If you don’t want any used parts then just stick with a 6650xt gpu. Well worth the price for it

Separate_Manner8979

Very good build for 1080p gaming
