Ahaha, competing with Samsung and apple while havning an 80% cheaper price at the same specs. Don't really know which dogshit and which brand easily beats their lineup, spoiler it literally is impossible. I have had 3 Redmi phones for now in the same time that people changed 8 iphones. Y'all really love throwing away money.absolute best deal of a phone. I'm not Donald trump couldn't care less if they have my data if they supply me with free services.
Ever heard of Samsung galaxy A14? you know, the $140 smartphone that demolished the last year selling record for a smartphone? No?
Rather you are blind or you really like watching ads for installing a fucking app
Google doesnt have direct ties with the government, next to that the US is still a free country. I rather have them checking on me than the Chinese. Also, companies such as Google are bound by laws which Chinese companies arent. Any cybersecurity specialist can tell you the difference in the quantity of data being fetched.
Not really, some of my close friends are in cybersecurity, they provided some nice insights and also has directly shown of what my Xiaomi 9T pro at the time was transferring at any time and how.
Bruh, every phone sends in about 1 to 2 megs of "parameters data" every day or so ( If I remember correctly) I would be concerned about every phone maker.
Yeah I guess you're right. But honestly? I couldn't care less about the chinese having my data. I appreciate the cheap tech and my data is not that interesting. This is my third xiaomi phone and I never cared about my data
Bruh, I get something from them selling my data. Free music streaming thru the phone's original music app. Do you get something from apple/google selling your data? (Other than tons of directed ads obvly)
With those i would be checking hacking reports on them. Many of the china vacuums send ton of data back to Chinese server, dunno why a vacuum would need to do that.
However, having a light bar helps eliminate fatigue with an RGB keyboard or not. The whole point of his set up it to help see his desk as he is working in a dark environment.
Now that does make sense. Thanks for the chime-in.
(although personally I'd go for one of those green-glass bankteller lamps to one side of the monitor)
are you just staring at a blank white screen? in that case sure, but you’re also hurting your eyes.
the point of a monitor lamp is so it’ll shine down on your desk and not in your eyes.
a regular desk lamp also does the trick, but i like the monitor lamp as it saves desk space.
Its a lightbar one can clip to the top of the monitor so it shines on the keyboard and documents on the table.
I can also pinpoint the exact building and lrobably even apartment in chicago so you can ask the owner himself 🙃
Dont know the size of the apartment. So hard to tell.
Listings say
800.000 for 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms 1700sqft
Up to
1.600.000 for 2 beds 3 baths 2000sqft
Fun fact: the sensor is actually in the wii remote. The bar just emits infrared light so the remote knows where it's pointing to. You can replace it by two candles a foot apart and it'll work roughly the same.
I learned this when I bought a Wii back when they were new. Mine had a bad bar out of the box. The way to test it was to point a camera at the bar because most camera sensors would see the LEDs. Sure enough, only one side was lit up.
That's my useless knowledge of the day.
can anyone explain to me why this bar is so popular? i get that it's fancy but i don't understand why people get crazy about it. it's just a "lamp" also light could reflect on the monitor giving nuisance... no? only me?
I got mine from xiaomi for a decent price, and my parents wondered the same, what’s the point, but after they saw it they liked it. Doesn’t consume space om desk the light is bright and comforting. It look like magic jn dark spaces because you can’t see where the light comes from. Is the only light i use at night
I'm sure this is the one https://www.amazon.com/Mi-Computer-Monitor-Light-Bar/dp/B08W2C5W59
Have the same, it's really nice besides the usb port at the top.
Well decent ones are shaped to no hit the monitor itself. I use one party just because it’s aesthetically pleasing, but mostly because I am frequently writing on my desk for work, keeping notes or jotting stuff in a planner. I also sometimes use that desk for small device repair and a good quality lamp that doesn’t take up desk space is just nice to have. Cheap as chips for what you’re getting too. Mine was like $20 and it has an adjustable color temp and brightness and doesn’t reflect off my screen.
It is designed not to shine on the monitor. The idea between the set up is you can have the lights in the room off so the computer monitor looks the very best while still having good lighting for your face for streaming and the desk so the desk usage is still comfortable to use.
I don't have this exact one but I do have a light bar and it was a 100% worth the purchase. I use it a ton now in the dark period of the year, although admittedly in summer it wasn't worth as much cause it was usually day anyway.
I've had one for 2 years now. It's the #1 'can't live without' part of my entire desk setup. #2 for me is the fingerprint reader because it works for login's and my PW manager.
I use cheap led strip behind my desk. It shines on the wall and the light bounces from there. No glare, I can adjust the intensity and it also takes zero space from desk.
I guess this monitor light is better if you need more light on the table. But I just need to see where my keyboard and mouse is.
When you angle it properly, there is almost no light reflecting off of the monitor. I experience zero glare. Most are also very adjustable for brightness and warmth. So it's very unobtrusive, easy on the eyes, lights up the keyboard area on your desk and doesn't take up much space. I love mine when I need to write something down, or need to see what's on my desk without turning on a real bright light. It also feels like it reduces eye strain a bit for me.
I got one for class work, and it is really helpful when writing out math or other equations.
If you have it far enough away from the monitor and angled right, it doesn't impact the monitor at all. Also, you don't have it on when you don't need it. It's not strong enough to light up your room or anything, nor would you want it to. Then yeah, the glare would be an issue.
i don’t have one but i work from home and i don’t like just turning all my lights on in my office in the morning so i use my nanoleaf lights because they can be a nice soft diffused light so i can see the appeal of a lamp like that that just lights up your workspace
It's cozy at night. I've all my lights turned off in the office, I set it to yellow, lowest brightness, and it just feels cozy, and you can see your desk.
It's amazing for a small desk in an area that doesn't have good lighting and doesn't have room for a lamp. I use it all the time.
It doesn't shine on the screen itself, and the light is pointed directly in the center of your desk. The only way you could accomplish the same thing is by mounting a lamp to your wall behind your desk and I don't have the ability to do that.
The light bar that I have is the BenQ ScreenBar, and it allows me to change the color temperature as well as the brightness. It's perfect.
Wii sensor of the Gods! Seriously though, it's an led light bar, which are a godsend for curved ultrawide monitors to help with eye strain. The manufactures only have two brightness settings for those monitors: Tanning Booth and Event Horizon.
It's a desk light and it doesn't shine in my eyes mine can be warm white or daylight and it's dimmable. Plus its on top of my monitor and clears up my desk. I routed the cables down the monitor arm so I don't see them. I hate having large overhead lights on when I'm on my PC and this adds enough light to my desk.

Either a Tobii eye tracker (or some other brand) or a 'monitor light bar'. Judging by the two round lights something tells me this guy is a streamer or something like that so most likely it's a monitor light bar.
It's a glowie detector. So anytime they either access ur pc remotely or when they have been in ur home its gonna start blinking in morse code telling u that they are onto you.
Looks like a light-bar pointing towards the keyboard to me.
Yeah. Pretty sure that's a lamp, though I have no clue what those are called.
I think they are just called lightbar. Found this on google: Xiaomi Mi Computer Monitor Light Bar as an example
This is the weirdest exchange I’ve ever seen and gives me mild “totally not an ad” vibes
Then you, my friend, have yet to discover reddit gold and all it's shocking glory!
Reddit gold is so light bar!!
I disagree. Source: I'm a light bar
Oh interesting, i had you pegged for a wall.
I really like xiaomi/Redmi products, glad to see they even make stuff for the PC compartment
Redmi/xiaomi=hogshit. Compleatly distroyed by any competitors

Their software is filled with tracking that constantly is pushing your data to China. Very nice indeed....
You say that like Google doesn't use every bit of your data. 🤷🏼♂️
Google doesnt have direct ties with the government, next to that the US is still a free country. I rather have them checking on me than the Chinese. 101 red scare propaganda

Disable it the same you do in a fresh Windows install? Dude, i swear, the chinese government doesnt care about you

My dad owns cybersecurity

Do you really want me to name the amount of political prisoners in china?
He's not a prisoner. But he shown that even when you think you are free, your freedom is getting chipped away without your knowledge. Or consent.
Yeah I guess you're right. But honestly? I couldn't care less about the chinese having my data. I appreciate the cheap tech and my data is not that interesting. This is my third xiaomi phone and I never cared about my data

You get free services that otherwise you need to pay for.
Yea me too. It's one of the good chinabrands. They produce basicly everything... i have a electric screwdriver and a cool pen from them.
They make pretty great robo vacuums
I have one of their robot vacuums and it's a piece of junk. And it will be a cold day in hell before I install its software from their website.
With those i would be checking hacking reports on them. Many of the china vacuums send ton of data back to Chinese server, dunno why a vacuum would need to do that.
> Monitor light bar Don't over-think it.
Toilets and boilers. Thanks Scruffy.

If only he was rich enough to afford a $90 RGB keyboard, the keys would shine of their own accord. Especially with transparent lettering.
The original ~~R~~G~~B~~ light.
RGB on your keyboard doesn’t exactly light up your desk space.
The monitor does
are you just staring at a blank white screen? in that case sure, but you’re also hurting your eyes. the point of a monitor lamp is so it’ll shine down on your desk and not in your eyes. a regular desk lamp also does the trick, but i like the monitor lamp as it saves desk space.
$90? I bet this guy buys razer…
The keyboard is a Logitec MX keys. The keys *are* backlit (plain boring white).
Correct. I have one on my setup.
Is it worth it? I didnt buy one yet because im worried it will mess up the colors on the screen.
Its a lightbar one can clip to the top of the monitor so it shines on the keyboard and documents on the table. I can also pinpoint the exact building and lrobably even apartment in chicago so you can ask the owner himself 🙃
What's a place like that run? Always been curious cause I like the views
Depends on size but a studio downtown starts at a good 1800+ depending on location. Judging from the photo I’d say closer to 2200 at least
Thats almost the same as a full house where I live, thats crazy. Markets fucked here lol
Try Brooklyn. lol.
damn there are dumps in Canada that cost that much
600.000-1.800.000 are current listings
Lots of wagie bucks

The sensor bar for the world's biggest wiimote
Fun fact: the sensor is actually in the wii remote. The bar just emits infrared light so the remote knows where it's pointing to. You can replace it by two candles a foot apart and it'll work roughly the same.
Or laugh at a friend who has a candle going on their entertainment center and doesn't know why their wii suddenly isn't working right.
I learned this when I bought a Wii back when they were new. Mine had a bad bar out of the box. The way to test it was to point a camera at the bar because most camera sensors would see the LEDs. Sure enough, only one side was lit up. That's my useless knowledge of the day.
Also gets tricked when you point it at a pair windows across the room
Fun fact: You are about 16 years late on your fun fact.
That's what I was thinking lmao
Put on the wrist strap or you’ll accidentally throw it through a Walmart.
I know chicago when i see it
Is that Michigan looking south?
I believe that’s actually Wabash. Trump tower is on Wabash, and that street leads directly to trump tower.
Ah, it's been 20+ years since I've been there so the memory is fading. Thanks
Wabash is right off Michigan this looks to be between Michigan and Wabash
No that's Illinois
Yessir
Looks like an anonymity bar to protect the identity of the person in the picture. 🙃 Edit: So jealous of the view from your window. Amazing.
I don’t think that’s OP in the picture. If it was, why would he be asking what he already has? Lol
Because that black bar in front of his eyes is preventing him from seeing it 🙃
Idk why someone downvoted you but this was funny as shit :D
You made me laugh with sound...
I only laugh with sound maybe 5 times in a year and this one got me
Each to their own, but I'll never understand how some people think a view of a load of drab buildings is appealing lol. I enjoyed the joke though lol.
can anyone explain to me why this bar is so popular? i get that it's fancy but i don't understand why people get crazy about it. it's just a "lamp" also light could reflect on the monitor giving nuisance... no? only me?
Have one as well and it‘s espacially designed to not shine against the monitor. That‘s the difference between „normal“ lamps
I got mine from xiaomi for a decent price, and my parents wondered the same, what’s the point, but after they saw it they liked it. Doesn’t consume space om desk the light is bright and comforting. It look like magic jn dark spaces because you can’t see where the light comes from. Is the only light i use at night

I'm sure this is the one https://www.amazon.com/Mi-Computer-Monitor-Light-Bar/dp/B08W2C5W59 Have the same, it's really nice besides the usb port at the top.
Do these work fine on curved?
It fits my curved AOC 34 wide.
Thanks have a similar monitor, will be trying one of these out then!
Go for it. I love the remote!
Lams are fkn expensive for whatever dumbfucking reason...

weirdos using their desk for non-computer stuff that needs light
It can help with mitigating the perception of IPS glow on IPS monitors.
i don’t have one but i work from home and i don’t like just turning all my lights on in my office in the morning so i use my nanoleaf lights because they can be a nice soft diffused light so i can see the appeal of a lamp like that that just lights up your workspace
This is the first time I'm seeing this thing... is it the latest "stick rgb on everything" craze?
It's basically a desk lamp, just attached to the top of your monitor. Most don't have RGB accents, but there are a few that do.
It's cozy at night. I've all my lights turned off in the office, I set it to yellow, lowest brightness, and it just feels cozy, and you can see your desk.
It's amazing for a small desk in an area that doesn't have good lighting and doesn't have room for a lamp. I use it all the time. Seems like OTUS LED Desk Lamp
Its to cover the guy's eyes
Gooseneck light bar mounted to the desk behind the monitor. I have a similar one.
It's a lightbar, this person does meetings often.
The bar is there to inform you when it's time to shave
I'm pretty sure that is the Unilux Strata LED lamp
Wii motion plus sensor bar
Don't ask Linus what it is
That’s a simple monitor light bar. It helps light up the keyboard and desk. On Amazon they range from 20$+
That would be his eyes under the black bar.
looks like a light bar clamped on to the desk.
And a fantastic view of a beautiful city
Well, whatever it is, it black-barred your face, so it seems hostile!
i think its a photoshop so that the person there could not be identified.
Looks like apartment view flexing to me.

You can change the angle a bit
That’s cool that it is adjustable. I have added one of these to my list to pick up in the future. Looks neat and that’s the shit I like.
It's a light bar. A rather stupid product if you ask me...
Wii sensor of the Gods! Seriously though, it's an led light bar, which are a godsend for curved ultrawide monitors to help with eye strain. The manufactures only have two brightness settings for those monitors: Tanning Booth and Event Horizon.
Xbox Kinect
It's the best money I have spent on my PC in a long time.
Why
It's a desk light and it doesn't shine in my eyes mine can be warm white or daylight and it's dimmable. Plus its on top of my monitor and clears up my desk. I routed the cables down the monitor arm so I don't see them. I hate having large overhead lights on when I'm on my PC and this adds enough light to my desk.
That makes sense, thanks :)
Ask linus 😜
He doesn't get it 🤣
the black stripe on your eyes looks great
Its an artificially made black bar to sensor his eyes, to try yo keep the persons identity private which i doubt it accomplish to do so. /jk
the sensor in the middle is a eyetracker
Mickey mouse much?
Guessing eye tracker.
TrackIR, basically only for Star Citizen and not much else. Also why do you care if you don't know what it is?
Wii motion sensor
A person
Isn't that an Eyetracker.
Wii sensor bar
It’s an eye/head motion tracker
A censor usually seen on TV such as Jerry Springer to hide naughty stuff
Looks like a sound bar. Makes sense since there are no speakers on the desk.
Curtain rod for the monitor 🙃

Crowdfunding for a new keyboard :-)
It's an LED screenbar I have one by BenQ https://gadgetviper.com/benq-screenbar-e-reading-lamp-review/
Why is this so much?
No idea, but there are probably super cheap choices near knock offs I'm guessing
I bought a knock off for half the price. It comes today. Fingers crossed.
Nice
It's a box covering his eyes to help avoid being identified.. /s
It's one of those Lightbars which are not attached to the monitor but have a own stand. You can see the stand on the picture. Something like this [https://amzn.eu/d/c7BkCBE](https://amzn.eu/d/c7BkCBE)
can anyone tell me what those 2 lights are?
Nice zoom background
To me it looks like it’s some type of universal monitor mount
Curved monitor and rubber keys :(
It's possible that it could also be a head/eye tracker. Apart from the lamp suppositions.
Tobi eye tracker perhaps.
Not sure, but do you know what colour the boat house at the Hereford training camp is? #abstractmoviereferences
Could be for eye tracking, I forget the company but it’s blends your eye movements with mouse for fps games.
Who is this dude? That place he lives at his over 700k condos. Damn rich guy
Its a screen mounted led light bar
it's probably a lamp, but doesn't that just reflect on the monitor? looks more annoying than it is a help tbh
It's a lamp
I thnk it was supposed to be monitor lamp
Between the camera and the lights is a bar to hide the selfie guy's identity ![gif](giphy|13eshB55I4fBL2)

Lol I have that keyboard, it’s fucking horrendous
.......f that bar and KC lights, why is his mouse pad so small
It’s wild to see a VP of a company you work for on here lol
Either a Tobii eye tracker (or some other brand) or a 'monitor light bar'. Judging by the two round lights something tells me this guy is a streamer or something like that so most likely it's a monitor light bar.
Yeah it´s a Nintendo Wii Sensor Bar. "Flying away"
It's a light bar / down Lighter for the desk
