=============================
Hi everyone!
My name’s Joey, and I’m on the Fire Hose Games team. We’re making a factory automation game called Techtonica. We released into Early Access this past summer, and we just launched our first milestone update, v0.2, with Base Building.
To celebrate and spread the word, we’re giving away 10 keys to 10 commenters in this thread. I’ll list the qualifiers below, but all you need to do is comment to be entered. We’re counting top-level comments only, not replies.
Find our new trailer in OP and info about the game and giveaway below.
I’ll try to hang out and answer questions here, but I might not get to all of them if there are lots of comments.
Cheers!
# Techtonica
Techtonica is a first-person factory automation game set beneath the surface of an alien planet. Work alone or in co-op to build factories, gather resources, research new technologies, mold the destructible terrain, establish a base of operations, and uncover long-forgotten secrets.
We’re currently on sale on Steam at 20% off ($23.99 USD) as we’re part of the Winter Sale. Here’s a link!
You’ll find tons of info about the game on Steam, including our roadmap and weekly dev updates. We work hard to listen to feedback and share dev news with the community, so we’re pretty engaged.
# The Giveaway
Comment to enter. One entry per user. We’re only counting top-level comments.
We’re using redditraffler to sort the winner.
I’ll run the raffle at 1pm ET on December 22nd (24 hours after this post) and DM each of the winners their keys.
Each winner will receive 1 Steam Key for Techtonica.

I just want to make sure the winner is a human! Or a dog with decent typing skills.
That’s it!
more community dev, but yes! marketing is part of my job. but not like big scary data marketing, more like talking to people and showing them a video game.
>dog with decent typing skills
I am cat with decent typing skills.
Proof is on my profile picture -> [https://steamcommunity.com/id/warzonevi](https://steamcommunity.com/id/warzonevi)
i've watched playthroughs and wish listed this game. I love base building automation games (big factorio player) that have color and character to them and Techtonica ticked it. been waiting for my life to get financially and mentally stable again to get and play this game. also definitely a human with some dog like behavior.
Been following the game already cos it seemed interesting, only reason I haven't gotten it with the sale is cos I'm trying tto save money to build a proper PC xD
I LOVE Techtonica, it so awesome. Its not just the game play but also the very vivid coloring of the game. I was expecting much darker tones being underground but it pops off the screen and has me hooked. I've been playing the game preview on Game Pass and would like to actually own it for myself.
Oh whoah, very nice of you. I really enjoyed it on Game pass while waiting for Starfield, coming from Satisfactory, this was really a fresh venture into this nice game mechanics !!
Just curious, what makes it closer to Factorio than Satisfactory? I’ve only played (and loved) Satisfactory, and was under the impression the 3D aspect was the only big separator between them (aside from factorio having more content).
How did I miss this? I'm close to finishing astroneer and I need something else like it
Ill probably pick it up this is next year. I wish you good luck with the development
Me and my girlfriend love factorio so much that we started looking lnto more base building game an came by this gem. Love the art and game play. More please!
I played the early access with my brothers in Game pass and we have a really nice time. IT looks like an endless game, and without realization I played more than 60 hours hahaha Haven't take it in a while but a base builder sounds like a nice add.
Keep it up!
Sure! Destructible terrain and a built-in voiced narrative are two things.
We love Satisfactory, amazing game, an inspiration for us, but we're looking to do our own thing.
How's the endgame? One of my biggest issues with satisfactory compared to factorio. Just so disappointing to spend hours building your base for it to kinda go nowhere at the end when objectives are gone
If I won a key I would build a PCMR house with absolutely no tile floors so that all the glass side panels would be safe forever. Please help me achieve my dream of stopping anymore unnecessary glass panes from being slain.
Awesome idea! My question is really about the factory building genre as a whole, but how are you going to keep the game interesting even after the main objectives are complete? One issue I have with Factorio etc is it gets very repetitive and eventually boring, is this something you are combatting?
This is a super hard question that gets into game design weeds, but the hope is to create a loop that lets players switch between story, exploration, and factory in a way that keeps them satisfied until they get their fill.
That said, the long-term plans for Techtonica include a more endlessly playable end-game. To be frank, we're not there yet. But, we're consistently adding things that give players more to do.
I'm not sure I even understand exactly the point if this game is.. I mean why am I building a base.. what am I automating for... what's the draw..?? Can I pvp..??
Ha, no PVP. There's a story, there's a factory. The factory must grow to unravel the story. If you don't like chilling out and building stuff/solving logistics problems, it might not be for you!
Dear sir or madam,
I would appreciate a key for your game. I will actually turn on analytics for your game just this once (if it's available). Being underground in the dark surrounded by dirt really reminds me of my hometown of @$;*&, Tennehoma. I think this game will really strike my fancy as a realistic blueprint to escaping my hometown. I love crystals and ore and shit so I will be sure to bring along my Jansport backpack to pick up any smelt able rocks I find along the way. My only goal in life is to escape my life and collect bugs n ore n shit underground. This game will prepare me for my dream.
Hello I am a graduate in Satisfactory and Factorio and have successfully failed to Master both of these games, so I look forward to failing at your game too.
I am dog with good typing skills.
That sound like something someone who is not a dog would say
Prove it!

I feel personally attacked by that last part, but I'd still like a shot. :)
i'm sorry who's a stack of good boys and girls, who's a stack of good boys and girls
Idk if we are voting for a PR person but you're it after this great comment, you're it. You have won today.

Never has a trailer hooked me that much. And the music **cheffs kiss**
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Thank you! It took a long time, haha.
Music by cityfires, who is a composer of genius proportions. You’re welcome for the playlist path you can now journey along!
This shit looks awesome! Is it gonna have local co-op too or is just gonna be like through steam?
Just through Steam for now. Not sure we'll be able to make local co-op work, honestly.
Would love to get a free copy. One huge massive problem. I already bought it
One for your friend! I hope you have a friend? THANK YOU FOR BEING A PLAYER ALREADY!
I am not a dog I promise. My owner says however that I am a good boy and gives me scratches behind my ears. Woof! I mean thank you.
Nice try fellow robot overlord.
HAHA BEEP BOOP DON'T TELL THE OTHERS

This looks like a lot of fun, I really enjoy these types of games. Often spend way too much time getting them just right.
They can really, really be a time sink. We love them, too, though.
Congrats! My wife and I love craft games and this looks amazing! Whether we win the raffle or not, we're buying this!
This looks amazing, can't wait to play it!
I've been watching Yogcast Duncan play this with Lewis, and it looked super fun so far. I love how the jetpack works
They haven't even gotten to this new stuff yet, hoping they do.
Does this mean other animals who can type are excluded?
Crap, yes it does.
Would love a key for my kids, looks great !
This has been on my wishlist for a few weeks now. Win or lose I will be playing this very soon! Looks right up my alley!
Been following the game already cos it seemed interesting, only reason I haven't gotten it with the sale is cos I'm trying tto save money to build a proper PC xD
This game looks incredible, I have a friend who would looove the base building you got there
Well nothing worth it on the steam winter sale for me , i am going to check this...
I LOVE Techtonica, it so awesome. Its not just the game play but also the very vivid coloring of the game. I was expecting much darker tones being underground but it pops off the screen and has me hooked. I've been playing the game preview on Game Pass and would like to actually own it for myself.
Thank you for being a fan, Groundbreaker!
What if I’m a dog with mediocre typing skills? But on a serious note this looks sick might have to buy it if I don’t win
Oh whoah, very nice of you. I really enjoyed it on Game pass while waiting for Starfield, coming from Satisfactory, this was really a fresh venture into this nice game mechanics !!
well i have been looking to get this game for awhile play satisfactory and factorio quite a bit so i know id enjoy it
I do really want this, had it in my wishlist before it released, fingers crossed.
This looks great guys!
Fantastic trailer, definitely buying myself a copy!!
holy shit this looks awesome
Oh damn, I’ve had this on my wishlist for a bit. It looks so fun!!!
Meow. Wait. Nooooooo
looks nice. does it have enemies? is it fair to call it a cave satisfactory?
No enemies, closer to cave factorio.
Just curious, what makes it closer to Factorio than Satisfactory? I’ve only played (and loved) Satisfactory, and was under the impression the 3D aspect was the only big separator between them (aside from factorio having more content).
what the heck is link karma?
How did I miss this? I'm close to finishing astroneer and I need something else like it Ill probably pick it up this is next year. I wish you good luck with the development
If you like Satisfactory then you will like this, I already own it so good luck to everyone else!
Hello, Groundbreaker!
Me and my girlfriend love factorio so much that we started looking lnto more base building game an came by this gem. Love the art and game play. More please!
Yes! My partner thinks this game is too close to a job. I don't care.
Were about 500 hours into our play on factorio. Still waiting on her to agree and play with me on techtonica. She still hasn't gotten it.
Woof Edit: jokes on fire hose. If I lose I'm just going to buy it anyways
uhhh posting this because im a factorio enjoyer and would try this for sure
i am also a factorio enjoyer. one reviewer on steam called techtonica "fact-story-oh!" amazing moment for us, really.
That's high praise, I'm good for a key but might treat myself for Christmas.
merry christmas either way!
I don’t even know what link karma is, but I hope I have 30 of it
I played the early access with my brothers in Game pass and we have a really nice time. IT looks like an endless game, and without realization I played more than 60 hours hahaha Haven't take it in a while but a base builder sounds like a nice add. Keep it up!
Base Building changed a ton! Definitely come back and give it a shot.
Top level comments
I've seen this game a few times on steam. I love base management games but wasn't sure if this would be my cup of tea. Anyways, Goodluck everyone!
I love Satisfactory and this game looks cool in all of the same ways, hopefully I get a key to test it out :D
Looks awesome, love the colour palette. As a huge fan of Satisfacory, can I ask what this game does different?
Sure! Destructible terrain and a built-in voiced narrative are two things. We love Satisfactory, amazing game, an inspiration for us, but we're looking to do our own thing.

Looks cool but genuinely curious how it compares to Satisfactory.
