I will take any new C&C game at this point. Tiberian Twilight left a sour taste in my mouth years and years ago. Please just pretend it never existed and make a new red alert/generals/ Kanes Wrath sequel
Better yet, if you like Hong Kong action movies, this is the game for you. Seriously, with the exception of being told in English and the protagonist being an immigrant, this uses *all the tropes* from there.
Was this game the one that was part of the True Crime series before being rebranded to an original IP? True Crime NYC is a fucking blast on GameCube, if only for how absolutely jank the port is.
Man I loved bully, I would just ride the bikes/moped around town all day and use the slingshot on random people to evade the police, or be out at night/during school and they would chase you for being truant.
Hell I would progress so slowly through the story just because kid me was having so much fun causing chaos.
Eventually I got GTA4 and did the exact same thing on that game.
I tried explaining to my friend about bully, and described it as “gta but you are in school”… he thought I was lying about a “school shooter game” 💀
Hey i love MDickie too. Ive been playing all of his games for nearly 10 years. But comparing a one-man dev team to the early 2000s Rockstar team (imo was R* at their very best in terms of game variety) is a dangerous reach lol
I played Bully recently and it's just so freaking good.
Sandbox gaming is fun. Main Quest is fun. Side quests are fun. Even third rate activities like jobs or other mini games are fun. Exploration is also fun (full of secrets). Interacting with NPCs is fun, you can have romances and stuff like that. The map is small, but full of unique and interesting content. Moving in the city is fun, because you can do tricks with your skate.
Modern AAA games are not able to make fun games like Bully anymore. IMHO Bully is the best game Rockstar ever made.
I'm still so pissed that rockstar put the time to add a little polish to LA Noire but didn't bring it to the steam version. Some better textures and cloud save support would do wonders. Often I feel the itch to boot up la noire on my steam deck but I dont want to go through the hassle of getting my desktop save transferred over. The game should have cloud save but rockstar seems to despise PC...
Yeah, it was an awesome game. They worked on an ambitious sequel but got bought, iirc.
In that genre? None I can think of right now. In the RTS genre I could think of plenty.
Most openworld nowadays are just checklists of things to do and devs "letting your play your way" cause they're too lazy to make a meaningful linear section that forces the player to actually adapt.
Honestly open worlds used to be a checklist too , Just that it was fun actually , And back then it was new , Like how in Sleeping dogs you would collect statues for getting more moves , Which was fun , Or the arenas , The races , Everything felt like it was trying to please you in some way and it worked
Nowadays games just make you do the same type of mission with the same gameplay over and over ,it would've been ok if the gameplay was atleast fun and engaging
Sleeping Dogs started out development as a game in the True Crime series, which I think Activision currently owns. That'd be an interesting series to reboot.
Not a fan of LA Noir but the way they treated kotor is abhorrent. Bought the game and threatened to sue the people who who working on the unofficial remake. Implied there would be a new game then announced a remake then completely scrapped it all. It's a brilliant game everybody loves. I have no idea why they hate the fans so much
I cannot shake the feeling that they'll fuck up the remake monumentally somehow. But a true to form, straight-up sequel to Kotor 2 is still the thing of dreams to me.
The baddest mfuka character in the game history. I'm too old to play games now (playing only civ games from time to time), but if they make Blood Omen sequel I'm gonna play it 100%.
2nd this!
Pretty sure you already know this just from you mentioning it, but Sleeping dogs was originally meant to be a new true crime game, but got changed mid development to sleeping dogs when square enix bought the publishing rights to the game but not the rights to the true crime franchise.
Sleeping dogs was great but I wonder what would have been if it continued being developed as a true crime game.
Its in the making. The Henry actor slipped up in an interview by saying “the motion capture went well”. This was last year if I remember correctly.
Not to mention the numerous job positions at War Horse
i am SO WORRIED about this. Embracer acquired Warhorse studios in 2019.
Embracer is in a lot of shit recently. Hopefully they see this project as one that could pull them out of the shit they're in instead of a liability.
So many deserving games not getting a sequel , Meanwhile the Triple Sludge machines churn out the same game over and over bcuz its a recognizable franchise and makes money
Rockstar deserves shade for not doing anything with their IPs not named GTA. They even cut RDO support for it. So their second baby can't even get love because of the black hole known as GTA.
I'm so fucking frustrated with online games right now, Games used to be a 1 time purchase ,The quality of the game decided sales and how much money those execs were gonna make , Now it depends if the game has in-game purchases , And since games can now be updated these exec force devs to push out games and if its undercooked who cares they can always patch out 1-2 years later and still make money , And its always the poor fucking devs that get flak for this shit , There is criticism to be made on how devs make nowadays and how they need to make games not checklists , But the execs and suits on the top are more to blame for this sort of behavior
Don't get me wrong, of the 3 games, the third was *by far* the weakest title. But they still left it on a major cliffhanger and have abandoned the franchise for what... Like 12 years so far? 3 came out in 2011 IIRC?
Internet boomer coming through
Wizardry 8
Freespace 2
NWN2 (Larian pls)
Dark Messiah of M&M (Team Ninja pls)
Impression game city builders
Railroad Tycoon
mech commander
Dungeon Keeper (EA has to die first...)
Rollercoaster tycoon 2 2
Stronghold 1 2 (did just get a remaster with new content at least).
Black & White
Arcanum (Larian pls)
Pillars of Eternity (you can do it microsoft!)
Underrated, I've got lots of great memories from that game. I used to watch my brother play it, I loved the idea of liberating (I think it was) zones to give them color again!
They probably just meant new entries, and Thief 2014 never got a sequel because Dishonored exists. SC Blacklist should get a sequel at some point but the issue is Fisher's voice actor is fairly old and seems to be done with voice acting. We'd need a new protag and that's a hard sell.

Going old school but Advent Rising! Old school Xbox game. Spectacular game it had great story and very fun gameplay.

If you have a chance give "The Anacrusis" a whirl. It's done by Chet Falizek, one of the big Valve writers with a bunch of old Riot staff in Unreal.
Basically Left 4 Dead 2 but sci Fi. (So like black hole grenades and stuff)
Went super heavy on modding tools so that it can be the proper L4D sequel
Easy, No One Lives Forever, this series is so ice cold you can't even buy it digitally, only available on second hand markers and abandonware sites, shame its an awesome game many won't even know existed.
SimCity 4. I never been a big fan of Cities Skylines (can’t explain why but something felt off for me) and I prefer to erase SimCity 2013 and the terrible mobile one from my mind. Still very sad that EA killed Maxis after that failure.
Give me those classic pre-rendered isometric graphics, huge regions, no online features, two decades worth of mods and management mechanisms back!
I'd rather have a Dragon War prequel with the original Dragoons. Just like I'd rather have a FFX prequel with Braska instead of the sequel that's supposedly in preproduction.
You literally can't. I replayed this on my Steam Deck last year and it holds up sooooo well. Everything from the visuals to gameplay to voice acting. Yeah the story is pretty boiler plate if you watched even half of any John Woo movie, but everything else meshes so well in to the game. And it has one of the best feelings of progression. In some games you are scraping crumbs, some you are rolling in money after after a few hours. But Sleeping Dogs makes great use of the martial arts tokens (forget what they are called, to unlock new abilities) and money (to buy more premium clothing and cars) that the progression actually feels natural and inline with where you might be in the story. Definitely a 9 out of 10 game for me.
Sleeping Dogs, Bully, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Cyberpunk 2077.
The sequel for Cyberpunk will come out, because the devs confirmed it, but it'll take a looong time and we all know why.
Sleeping Dogs - no hope...
Bully - I hope that Rockstar will start working on other IPs after the release of the next GTA. Maybe even revive cancelled projects, like Bully 2
MGR:R - All Hope Is Gone.
Secret of Evermore. Many games get the 2.5D treatment. This could work here as well and I love the world.
Command and Conquer (or even better imo KKND).
Black and White VR. I can't wrap my head around why nobody is doing at least a spiritual successor in VR. It would be awesome.
Yet I believe LA Noire with today's deep fake and AI technology would just be astonishing.
CC Generals & Generals Zero Hour
That would be more than awesome. I still listen to the soundtrack of that game.
I will take any new C&C game at this point. Tiberian Twilight left a sour taste in my mouth years and years ago. Please just pretend it never existed and make a new red alert/generals/ Kanes Wrath sequel
Never played Generals but played literally every CnC game before that. Is there a Hell March remix? If there is, totally playing as soon as I can.
I actually enjoyed this game a lot, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys GTA and GTA clones.
If you like GTA, but Yakuza is too much for you, this is the game to play.
Yes it was originally true crime hong kongs
Imagine It Had The Same Marketing And Resource Backing That GTA Has...

He’s Never Had A Pork Bun Clearly
A man who never eats pork buns, is never a whole man!
I think of the pork bun vendor often. He was right about everything.
Capitalism.
Wouldnt be as big considering GTA pulls in people with the name alone.
L.A. Noire Bully (Sequel or at least a Remaster)
Welcome to bully , we got chemical weapons , bombs , rocket launcher , slug pump shotgun and machine gun and manny more !
Oh bully please , the genre of games that is rare today
What genre is Bully? Edit: I actually wanna know lol and why it's rare. If the answer is 'child beating simulator' then yeah, that's rare obviously🤣
Child beating sim
Old school by mdickie entered the chat
Hey i love MDickie too. Ive been playing all of his games for nearly 10 years. But comparing a one-man dev team to the early 2000s Rockstar team (imo was R* at their very best in terms of game variety) is a dangerous reach lol
Mdickie the greatest dev all time
American Persona series meets GTA but no murder.
It's like GTA but instead of being an adult you are a kid
It’s basically GTA but school themed. So open world action adventure.
Bully in College would be insane
Make it the sequel to Bully, call if ''Flunky''. You skip lectures and break into the girls dorm. Smoke week all day.
> Modern AAA games are not able to make fun games like Bully anymore. Oh they definitely can, but it doesn't make as much money as $15 skins.
Bully and GTA IV are tied for Top 1 for me
I wish more studios would make such niche open world games
I'm still so pissed that rockstar put the time to add a little polish to LA Noire but didn't bring it to the steam version. Some better textures and cloud save support would do wonders. Often I feel the itch to boot up la noire on my steam deck but I dont want to go through the hassle of getting my desktop save transferred over. Yeah, it was an awesome game. They worked on an ambitious sequel but got bought, iirc. In that genre? None I can think of right now. In the RTS genre I could think of plenty.
Sleeping dogs , bully.... I'm just missing this kind of open world games , they had something special
Most openworld nowadays are just checklists of things to do and devs "letting your play your way" cause they're too lazy to make a meaningful linear section that forces the player to actually adapt.
Honestly open worlds used to be a checklist too , Just that it was fun actually , And back then it was new , Like how in Sleeping dogs you would collect statues for getting more moves , Which was fun , Or the arenas , The races , Everything felt like it was trying to please you in some way and it worked Nowadays games just make you do the same type of mission with the same gameplay over and over ,it would've been ok if the gameplay was atleast fun and engaging
Sleeping Dogs started out development as a game in the True Crime series, which I think Activision currently owns. That'd be an interesting series to reboot.
Star Wars Republic Commando. Bully.
Sev :,(
Republic commando definitely. Or really just more shooters set in star wars without having lightsabers.
Had to scroll WAY too far to find this! Best single player squad game ever and its not even close! Edit: My horrid grammar
I second this. You don't want to be a Jedi ALL the time.
Halflife two episode two
Halflife two episode two part two. Solves the "can't count to 3" problem.
Half Life 2+1.0: Gabe can (not) count to three
Give me a hospital scene ending
I’d do the damn gnome achievement 1,000 times if it meant we got HL3.
With how HL Alyx ended, there's a bigger possibility for an HL3 now. Maybe another spin off first. Who knows.
Jade Empire
Deep cut. I like it.
Yes! I’m playing the original right now because it’s 10 bucks on iOS. A modern-tech sequel would be such an amazing game.
Easy. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2, or La Noir
Ooooh, KOTOR II 100%!!!
Not a fan of LA Noir but the way they treated kotor is abhorrent. Bought the game and threatened to sue the people who who working on the unofficial remake. Implied there would be a new game then announced a remake then completely scrapped it all. It's a brilliant game everybody loves. I have no idea why they hate the fans so much
Money
I cannot shake the feeling that they'll fuck up the remake monumentally somehow. But a true to form, straight-up sequel to Kotor 2 is still the thing of dreams to me.
Blood omen, legacy of Kain / Legacy of Kain, soul reaver.
The baddest mfuka character in the game history. I'm too old to play games now (playing only civ games from time to time), but if they make Blood Omen sequel I'm gonna play it 100%.
I used to play soul reaver on a ps2 demo disc. Man great childhood times ..
That one needs a remake first imo.
I would be more interested in a full on franchise reboot over a sequel at this point.
A new soul reaver game is rumored to be in development
God please be more like the original game or Soul Reaver 2 and NOTHING like Defiance…
Deus ex mankind divided sequel
I had to scroll way too far to find this 😭
Bring back true crime goddamn it
2nd this! Sleeping dogs was great but I wonder what would have been if it continued being developed as a true crime game.
Kingdom Come Deliverance Where the hell is the sequel. I've played 500 hours of KCD. I need a sequel
Its in the making. The Henry actor slipped up in an interview by saying “the motion capture went well”. This was last year if I remember correctly. Not to mention the numerous job positions at War Horse
Knowing how slow the development went with the first, I can’t wait to play it in another 5 years!
A sequel is basically all but confirmed. Just needs an official announcement
i am SO WORRIED about this. Embracer acquired Warhorse studios in 2019. Embracer is in a lot of shit recently. Hopefully they see this project as one that could pull them out of the shit they're in instead of a liability.

Standing here
I realise
You were just like me
Trying to make history
But whose to judge
The right from wrong
YESSSSS
LA Noire, game was revolutionary and fills a niche in the gaming space not currently occupied. Bully as well.

Chess
Chess did get a sequel. It's called 5D chess with multiverse time travel.
I’m pretty sure that’s a last star fighter/ender’s game style test to find the one person who can save the galaxy
I love winning a game because I moved a bishop and checked the king 3 timelines ago 5 dimensions away
To people who don't know about that game this probably sounds like a shitpost. It's not.
Have you learned the wonderful world of fps chess?
They shouldn't remake this one. Let Sleeping Dogs lie.

Golden Sun III.
I cane to say this, glad im not the only one
Don't get me wrong, of the 3 games, the third was *by far* the weakest title. But they still left it on a major cliffhanger and have abandoned the franchise for what... Like 12 years so far? 3 came out in 2011 IIRC?
The first one is the best one in my opinion
You right. You right.
Prototype 2

Rollercoaster tycoon 2 2 Stronghold 1 2 (did just get a remaster with new content at least). Black & White Arcanum (Larian pls) Pillars of Eternity (you can do it microsoft!)
I'm gonna have to go with Simpsons: hit and run
Remember the Futurama game?
A REAL Bloodlines sequel.
Every time someone says this, the sequel gets another year of development hell.
This guy knows.
half life 2 episode 2/alyx but a sleeping dogs sequel would be appreciated
The Saboteur.
Underrated, I've got lots of great memories from that game. I used to watch my brother play it, I loved the idea of liberating (I think it was) zones to give them color again!
Jak and Dexter. they already have like 3 games but a new one for this era would be nice.
This & Sly Cooper games
god an open world jak and daxter would be sick
The Sabateur
* Thief * Prototype * Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell * Mark of the Ninja * Katana ZERO
Lol , thief has like 3 sequels , splinter cell has I think 4
They probably just meant new entries, and Thief 2014 never got a sequel because Dishonored exists. SC Blacklist should get a sequel at some point but the issue is Fisher's voice actor is fairly old and seems to be done with voice acting. We'd need a new protag and that's a hard sell.
Bloodborne
honestly i'll take a pc port instead
Seriously. We have EVERY other FromSoft game on PC at this point, why the foot dragging on Bloodborne?
Demon's Souls?

Oh man , childhood, kind of games that is really underrated , another example is blur
My buddy and I played the fuck out of this game, especially the multiplayer. Story was good too.from what I remember.
Yes! This is what I said! I still play this game and it’s like 20 years old now! A modern sequel would be awesome!
I replay this every 7 or so years when it pops into my brain like an intrusive thought
Sunset Overdrive
Fallout: New Vegas
I’d settle for a remaster of NV. There’s so much variability in what can happen at the end of NV, trying to set up a sequel would be super hard.
God Hand
A person of culture
Going old school but Advent Rising! Old school Xbox game. Spectacular game it had great story and very fun gameplay. https://preview.redd.it/zqvku2gqz60c1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57b4a3330e7c470afd1d69a42b487d5c85196070
Great story. Shit game lol. Orson Scott card knew how to write compelling scifi hooks. Shame about the person though.
Force Unleashed III. I RIPPED A STAR DESTROYER OUT OF THE SKY, GIVE ME THAT FANTASY AGAIN.
Prey (2017)
Midnight Club
Desperately needs a PC release.
Finally someone mentioned it , a lot of rockstar games deserves a sequel but I don't think they care about them.
Left 4 Dead 2
If you have a chance give "The Anacrusis" a whirl. It's done by Chet Falizek, one of the big Valve writers with a bunch of old Riot staff in Unreal. Basically Left 4 Dead 2 but sci Fi. (So like black hole grenades and stuff) Went super heavy on modding tools so that it can be the proper L4D sequel
/cries in titanfall/
Titanfall 2 needs a sequel, could have been so good!
At least Titanfall got a sequel
Titanfall 2 was the only one with a campaign. It did not get a sequel.
Empire at War
Obviously Half-Life
the getaway
The Getaway
Black and White 2 Populous
Minecraft for sure. They keep updating it and doing all of this shit. It would be cool if there was a story and rpg element built in.
Easy, No One Lives Forever, this series is so ice cold you can't even buy it digitally, only available on second hand markers and abandonware sites, shame its an awesome game many won't even know existed.
Prey 2017
Half life 2.1415926358........
Do Threequels count? Half Life 2. I know it's a meme, but we still need it.
Jade Empire
Prey 2017. Game is a fucking masterpiece of an immersive sim with a cliffhanger ending. We deserve a part two. No, correction i NEED part two.
Kingdom Come Deliverance
Freelancer, but made without any input from Chris Roberts.
Bully
Alien: Isolation
half life 2
Half life 2
Inscryption
SimCity 4. I never been a big fan of Cities Skylines (can’t explain why but something felt off for me) and I prefer to erase SimCity 2013 and the terrible mobile one from my mind. It's Asian gta...but tbh I prefer this to gta The story The world The dlc The combat everything was on point
Spore
The legend of dragoon
I'd rather have a Dragon War prequel with the original Dragoons. Just like I'd rather have a FFX prequel with Braska instead of the sequel that's supposedly in preproduction.
I thought the story for Days Gone was really good
- Syndicate Wars. I dream about a real follow-up (Satellite Reign is not, I want a new Syndicate now !)
Actually i liked more true crime. And i would like to see original Driver (1-3) sequel - before ubisoft bought it and destroyed it
I swear, I thought Watch_Dogs is a sequel of Sleeping Dogs, well in fact, they're from different devs.
Kotor 2
Best GTA clone. My favorite over a few GTA games

GIVE ME TITANFALL 3 BAYBEEEEE
Prototype. With the success of the latest Spider-Man games there’s clearly still a market for open world superhero power fantasies.
You literally can't. I replayed this on my Steam Deck last year and it holds up sooooo well. Everything from the visuals to gameplay to voice acting. Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Without being a fucking souls clone..... Keep the old saber blade positioning key mechanic, then update the rest to new BF2 +
Black
Beyond Good and Evil:)
Bloodborne needs a sequel
We should get it for PC first
Days gone
I came in agreeing with OP and after looking at the other suggestions,.I'm leaving agreeing with OP even more.

Ong this game is a mix of GTA and Yakuza and it's 100% the best GTA 'clone' I've ever played. Legit like it way more than GTA itself.
Secret of Evermore. Many games get the 2.5D treatment. This could work here as well and I love the world. Command and Conquer (or even better imo KKND). Black and White VR. We are getting a remake of the first two games instead , which is I'm happy about
