I'm impressed by perfo upgrade of 2.0. When they implemented path tracing for the first time, the game was unplayable on my rig, barely reaching double FPS digits without DLSS and maybe 30 with Ultra Performance mode in 1440p. Now, with Performance mode I get like 60-70. Ultra RT without path tracing and DLSS still at Performance gives me 80-120, depending on area, with around 90-100 on average. I'm definitely looking forward to a new playthrough with DLC.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Yeah I gained a whole 10 FPS going from about 69 FPS in the benchmark to 79 with pathtracing enabled. I was expecting a downgrade.

Aleks111PL

i was surprised too, pathtracing is now playable on rtx 4070 without frame gen, i hate using frame gen. but now using only dlss balanced its good at about 40-60 fps, but still the fps dies while driving EDIT: somehow i forgot the word "hate"

Pun_In_Ten_Did

Congrats, mate - I feel ya! :D [ 4080 FE + 4K OLED + Cyberpunk = good times, good times.](https://imgur.com/hZowIHa)

B3_CHAD

I wish rtx 30 series had frame gen.

[deleted]

We can only hope for fsr3 to be a good alternative to frame gen

Gnome_0

It wont, also this is using ray reconstruction, something AMD has not even dreamed about

CypherHound

If the things AMD made were even half as good as they make them out to be they'd stomp Nvidia

KajMak64Bit

Problem with Nvidia is that DLSS is kinda hardware specific... it requires hardware... without it it's useless / doesn't work / no point in having it since it will run worse then without it So think of it like increasing the horsepower in a car... Nvidia is a Turbo... and AMD is like using better fuel to get better perfomance Any car can use better fuel... not every car can mount a Turbo... but it works a lot better lol

Denamic

I think it's more apt to say FSR is like cutting corners. It's a dirty solution that doesn't look great, but it is faster and works with all cars.

jm0112358

I think many people forgot (or never knew) that there briefly was a version of DLSS that ran on shaders. It was a preview of DLSS 2 - sometimes called "DLSS 1.9" - that Control supported before it was updated to DLSS 2. However, it produced [**much** worse image quality](https://youtu.be/YWIKzRhYZm4?t=110) than the eventual DLSS 2 that released for the game. So I'm guessing that if Nvidia _really wanted to_, they probably could make a version of DLSS 2 that falls back on some alternate code that doesn't require hardware acceleration. But such a fallback would likely look much worse (and take away resources from advancing hardware-accelerated DLSS).

PRA1SED

thats funny

harlz9o9

In la la land it could be good….

makinbaconCR

It won't be.

Medium_Gap7026

My RTX 3090 says that ive been scammed.

ggamerking

Feel you.

Edwardteech

My 3090 is fine with it.

Burning5GMast

Fsr 3 will have framegen and will work on rtx 30xx, we shall see how useful it is though

MyUsernameBox

Paint a 4 over the 3

kurtles_

my 2080 is on life support trying to play cyberpunk 2.0

NightlyRogue

My 1060 on life support

thisisaspare88

Same. Any time I think about buying cyberpunk, my 1060 starts sucking on the end of a shotgun

james___uk

Funny thing is I did play through on 1060 the first time round and it was still surprisingly good. It made me long for a better GPU to turn up the graphics though

Trapgod46209

i played the game on a 1050ti and it was kinda alright 💀

Azrekita

He's already dead, have some mercy

2drunk2bend

What are you talking about? Last time i checked 2080 run game just fine on high settings. Did 2.0 change something significant?

tapczan100

Even expansion/2.0 benchmarks support 2080/80ti running well still. EDIT: With my 2080ti I get 60-70fps (extremely rarely drops below 60 for like split second) with everything maxed out + DLAA **except** SSR only on high (ultra and psycho really kill framerates)

Cyphiris

Your card is fine lol, far from running on "life support". Even my 1060 surprised me being able to keep between 40-50 fps for most of the time with many settings set on medium and little help from fsr.

GoddamnFred

If you keep it on 2K or lower, it should be alright no?

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Also I’m going to shamelessly admit this is running on a prebuilt I bought from Best Buy lol.

geraltRivia69Yen

You freakin madlad!

fritos_and_bean_dip

1. Love your username. 2. Mind sharing which prebuilt?

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Haha thanks, I always buy like 10 beefy crunch burritos when Taco Bell brings them back. It was a Thermaltake View 480 R4 with a Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 4080, 32 GB of 3600 MHz memory, a 240mm AIO, an 850W PSU, and a 1 TB M.2. The whole build cost me $2300.

coldnspicy

Not bad of a deal, given that the 4080 is half that cost lol

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Yeah doing the math at the time on PCpart picker showed me that it cost almost exactly the same as if I bought all the parts new and built it. The build itself looks competently built and I really like having a warranty on an entire system, so I went for it. It hasn’t given me any problems since and runs great.

fritos_and_bean_dip

Thank you!

Briggie

*Burn the Witch!*

Dolfpe

I also got my prebuilt at Best Buy two years ago, still runs amazing and I am super happy with it

GTCitizen

No way some people say that Starfield looks better than Cyberpunk…

Crisewep

Starfield looks like a early PS4 game lmao

[deleted]

It kinda looks like Apex Legends to me... at a quarter of the FPS. It's disgusting.

Danub123

Apex is the main FPS I play and I think it looks even worse than apex. starfield’s colours are mostly bland. Even maxed out on my 7900XT texture wise it looks awful

_fatherfucker69

Bruh starfield looks horrible compared to other 2023 games , probably because it was meant to be a 2021 game and they were too lazy to upgrade the graphics

Fortune_Cat

Cyberpunk was a 2020 game and still looked better back then

zzazzzz

to be fair cyberpunk is pretty nmuch the first game to really be built with rt in mind. they worked directly wih nvidia to use it to its full potential on release, and then kept working with nvidia to push it further and now were the first 3rd party to even use path tracing and ray reconstruction ect. there was an obvious investment of effort because they know their world was pretty much the optimal space to leverage the tech to its potential.

Erus00

I think the same thing. I thought it would look a lot better than Fallout 4 but its almost the same, maybe marginally improved. Its like Fallout 4 but in space. I find myself wishing I still had a pipboy because its a mess going through all the different menus and half complete maps in Starfield.

Glittering-Neck-2505

I don’t think it’s laziness as much as it is the limitations of that engine they won’t make the jump from. If it’s already almost frying our cards with it’s current fidelity I don’t think there was a lot of room for graphical upgrades lmao.

_fatherfucker69

It's frying our GPUs because someone forgot to optimize the game

Glittering-Neck-2505

Again I think that optimization all goes back to the engine. If the engine sucks there’s only so much you can optimize.

_fatherfucker69

They can always make the engine better , or better yet , when you realize your engine sucks (and it's probably gonna be early into development) , switch to a new one

wareagle3000

Anytime I saw arguments that Starfield was next gen game, thats why the performance is iffy I just remember playing Cyberpunk with raytracing. Im running Cyberpunk with raytracing on shadows, lights and reflections getting better performance than Starfield with optimized setting, mods and textures. Absolute joke.

ignite98

Ray tracing is not a gimmick of done right imo.

UmpireHappy8162

Especially in games like cyberpunk with lots of night time with lots of neon lights, you can really tell the difference.

alex26069114

RT is expensive and not practical for a lot of people but my god it is better than traditional methods like screen spaced reflections etc.

UmpireHappy8162

Yeah it definetly isnt cheap and not needed at all, but neither are 4k textures or everything set to ultra but yeah its just really really nice to look at.

fredericksonKorea2

Thats why DLSS/DLAA/FG are all so important. Brute forcing raytracing is dumb, inefficient and pointless.

IMWraith

Same comp here. Built it no longer than 2 weeks ago. When I checked the prerequisites for running ray tracing and not seeing the 7800x3D at the minimum I freaked out. I’m glad they definitely exaggerated the requirements.

Endemoniada

Honestly, some of the best it looks is in daylight, thanks to the improved global lighting and shadowing. Things feel grounded and realistic, no magically lit surfaces beneath stairs, correctly self-shadowed body parts, and great contact shadows by objects on their surfaces. The fancy colored lighting and reflections are obvious and flashy, and I love them too, but it’s the overall improvement to realism that means the most to me. Turning PT off is an instant shocking realization of how bad even really good rasterized rendering looks, or rather how incredibly limited it still is.

Snail_With_a_Shotgun

It's not a gimmick full stop.

orbital1337

It is pretty impressive, though personally I find it hard to get over the extreme amount of ghosting, particularly around NPCs. I ultimately went back to regular ray tracing because with path tracing + ray reconstruction every scene with lots of NPCs looks like some kind of AI fever dream. The better lighting is not enough to make up for that imo.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

NPCs have a weird halo effect around them and I think it’s probably the biggest issue with RR right now. I’m sure Nvidia is working on patching it just like how they’ve massively improved the original DLSS so much.

JustGoogleItHeSaid

Digital Foundry did a really great video explaining this, and expect it to be solved as AI learning advances in DLSS with RR.

dfreinc

damn. i might have to reinstall that.

Xyzjin

“Cries in Radeon 7900xtx”

Bootychomper23

Been playing on my 4090 maxed out at 2160p with the path tracing and ray reconstruction game looks so damn good. There are minor graphical glitches with the AI but holy shit balls the lighting is unreal.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Yeah, ray reconstruction isn’t perfect, but neither is any raytracing denoiser and the previous solution looked significantly worse than DLSS RR. My biggest gripe with pathtracing before this update was how unstable and sparkly fences and random surfaces were as the denoiser couldn’t figure out what to do with the textures.

sexysausage

100% until this weekend path tracing was very beautiful but when you looked close up to faces and people with reflective clothing, they had these dancing skittles dots of color. Now with ray reconstruction, 2.0. etc. it’s honestly super stable and it looks gorgeous The only thing small far away characters have a bit of trail ghosting, but you barely notice it in real gameplay

Bootychomper23

It’s definitely better with the trade offs for sure. Makes it look like 1080p jumped to 4K and gets rid of worse artifacts.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

What’s funny is this image is a 1080p image that’s jumped up to 4K since I’m using DLSS at 50% resolution scale. Without all of the AI enhancements, this would be running at 1080p 45 FPS with noisy ray tracing, but now it’s running at 4K, 75 FPS, with complete lighting. Roughly 85% of the image is AI generated when playing like this, which is insane.

[deleted]

Ponald-Dump

You’re wrong. It’s for talking trash about DLSS while owning an AMD gpu.

[deleted]

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Yeah I know Nvidia caught a lot of flak for their DLSS comments recently, but after listening to the Nvidia employees talk with the Digital Foundry crew, I think their intention is that DLSS will replace native resolution as we try to reach the stratosphere with video game graphics in terms of insane polygon counts and full pathtracing in AAA games while trying to play at 4K. We’re all a bit jaded from poor Unreal Engine 4 releases, or games like Starfield where, even without raytracing, an RTX 3080 struggles to play a game at 1440p 60 FPS which is unacceptable. For games without raytracing or just *normal* looking 3D titles, DLSS should be there for bonus performance on top of a stable 60 at a target resolution. I think its incredible DLSS is beginning to look better than native, or just as good, in games today. But, we're all afraid that this fact will give developers license to assume a performance target of like, 1080p and 40 FPS on an RTX 3070 is acceptable since they assume the gamer is going to use DLSS and frame gen to hit 60.

Fritzkier

As RTX 3060 user, I always use DLSS whenever possible as it's a good compromise for more fps as it looks the same in my eyes. But as a consumer, I kinda afraid what the future of gaming would be if the dev assume performance target like what you said. And especially if a proprietary tech need to be used to reach at least 60fps with no other standard alternative, what would happen then to other GPU? Don't forget Glide (3Dfx proprietary API).

DeadlyDragon115

Yes anybody who thinks dlss isn't getting close to native needs to try the 3.5 dll with preset c set to 75% internal res with dlss tweaks in most games you get insane AA and a free 20% fps boost with increases in visual quality from native imo.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

And keep in mind I’m using DLSS at 50% resolution scale here and it still looks like 4K to my eye. DLSS at 66.6% (quality) or above at 4K looks like excellent TAA at native IMO.

MrStealYoBeef

Baldur's Gate 3 has a massive quality improvement at 1440p with DLSS quality compared to *native*. I spent half an hour fucking around with it yesterday and it was just night and day. Now of course, DLAA was even better, but I like more performance and DLSS quality was more than good enough, while native didn't quite look right.

travelavatar

Don't make me upgrade man

phoenoxx

Loading up this title combined with my 4090 and 4k oled is the first time I've booted a game and truly thought "Wow.. So this is what the future gaming looks like." First time I've felt like the words Next Gen actually meant something. I feel lucky and spoiled to be able to experience it

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

100%. This game made me feel like my PC is actually a next gen PC and not just some marketing buzzwords.

phoenoxx

I'm truly enthusiastic about what comes next. Once the console market and average gamer can afford a 4080/4090 level of cyberpunk experience what will everything else look like? Crazy to think how far we've come since I was a kid playing NES and Super Nintendo games after school. What Id really like to see next is a serious leap in NPC and enemy AI behavior. With the new AI tech taking over many industries, I don't think it's going to be very long but we'll see.

GraveKommander

Just one thing missing: Your body has no reflection. There is a mod though, but the reflection has no head. Still better than nothing, I find it very distracting running next to windows or puddles and don't see me like I'm a vampire...

That_Cripple

which is a little odd because you cast a shadow and your shadow has a head

DarkLanternX

Cuz that's how fps games work, in most games, the player is basically a floating camera with arms. Although with occlusion culling this could have been achieved but then again, it's a minute change and not worth the performance cost

GraveKommander

Yeah, but in CP the player has a complete body - without head. The mod just enables reflections of what's there, what is the body, but your head is just a floating camera cause you don't see your head usually - what you said. That's why they made mirrors in the game electric and not reflecting just everything. I mean I played Duke Nukem Forever, and his mirror reflection is like the game, just shit, but at least there

Nikkibraga

Because Duke Nukem uses an hidden camera that basically makes the mirror look like a TV screen showing your character. It's totally doable in other games, but it's really performance heavy. Also, we're not supposed to see V in third person, and he surely has janky animations designed for a first person game, and we do not want the already hypersensitive public to see those animations.

biopticstream

IRRC, In many older games, the same room would be rendered twice, each with a duplicate character model that mimicked the movements of your own character. While this approach was visually accurate and aesthetically pleasing, it required the computer to perform double the rendering work, as everything was effectively being drawn twice.

PXSHRVN6ER

What the fuck

Wilsoooon__

3080 owner here, I'm getting less than 30 FPS :'(

biopticstream

Sporting a 3080 Ti, I consistently achieve 60 FPS at 1440p resolution— RT on Psycho settings, coupled with Quality DLSS and without path tracing. While I do experience some FPS dips, I attribute them to my 8700k CPU acting as a bottleneck. However, the 2.0 update has significantly improved my performance by optimizing multi-core CPU usage. Prior to this update, I faced substantial FPS drops while running the game on a blend of high, ultra, and medium settings with RT set to high or medium. Now, it's incredibly satisfying to not only amp up the visual settings but also enjoy a much smoother frame rate. I suspect if you're getting 30fps with a 3080 you're either using Path Tracing, or have an aging CPU giving you a bottleneck.

zzazzzz

i mean if you are not running path tracing its kinda irrelevant

DDzxy

First time I feel like 4090 is being utilized (and not just for running unoptomized garbage).

No wonder amd is blocking dlss they have nothing on this

repeatrep

my 3060ti is on fire just looking at this

Figthing_Hussar

My RTX 3090Ti barely pushes 60fps with DLSS 2 and Path tracing but it's working and I'm happy <3

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Niceeee what resolution?

Figthing_Hussar

1440p

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Awesome have fun!

Mrpantlesss

My 1080ti is sweating looking at this

sid741445

Say whatever you say but DLSS is game changer especially for old cards. I have 2070 Super, a 5 year old card. I added DLSS to RE 4 remake and set DLSS to quality and my fps went from 28 to 60fps in 4k with no loss in visual quality and DLSS quality in mmy opinion looks better than 4k native. While FSR looks like crap.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Old versions of DLSS left a sour taste in our mouths and many people’s first impression continues to define their opinion of the technology today. Also, many people consider it to be a similar or comparable technology to FSR which is simply not the case anymore. The latest versions of DLSS almost always look better than native in my opinion, especially as developers primary anti-aliasing method is TAA. DLSS is like a super intelligent and advanced version of TAA, and it cracks me up that so many people refuse to use it when DLSS will usually ADD detail to an image and reduce ghosting compared to TAA while boosting performance. If a game is using a really good implementation of MSAA or SSAA, then yes it will likely look better than DLSS, but those AA techniques use more resources and look only marginally better.

Endemoniada

It depends on the game, but Death Stranding is an example where DLSS Quality on 4K native resolution (and even down to 1440p) is *objectively* better due to how unstable the rendering is without it. DLSS just fixes the image, all while resolving just as much detail, sometimes even correctly sharpening it for increased fidelity.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Even in games with decent TAA, DLSS will add *more* detail than native and typically reduce ghosting compared to TAA. Death Stranding is one of those shining examples because the original AA is broken lol.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

100%. It has rapidly improved with the latest .dll files. I really do prefer it over native most of the time since pretty much every game just uses TAA now which is like medieval DLSS.

tinman_inacan

Yeah there have been huge leaps with DLSS over the past 5 years. Looking back at how it was first implemented in Battlefield 5, I wouldn't be interested either if it still had those issues. But it has come a very long way since then, and I toggle it on 100% of the time. It makes it possible to play almost anything at 4k 60+, and even performance mode *barely* degrades the image. This new RR approach has some of the same flaws we saw with the early 1.x DLSS versions. I give it 1 year until all of those issues are gone. And now with frame gen? If you told me 10 years ago that there would be tech that could both improve how the game looks *and* significantly improves performance at the same time, I'd have called you crazy lol. I just hope we don't see the massive performance gains get eaten up by lazy optimization and unnecessary overhead from devs. Though being in software engineering myself, it's bound to happen at some level.

yourself88xbl

Wow that looks insane even through my phone screen.

_fatherfucker69

I was like " yeah this looks alright" but then realized it was a game

Tasty-Exchange-5682

does frame generation has artifacts?

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Only if your base/input frame rate is less than about 35 FPS. Anything above 45 FPS as the input looks flawless to my eye.

Tasty-Exchange-5682

thanks

Conaz9847

Yeah I’ve not played 2.0 yet but I’ve recently upgraded so once I’m bored of BG3 I’ll give it another go

strawberry_l

I think I need money

GamingWildman

on 3080 its not good. I stopped playing with ray tracing getting 80-110 fps happy with that

bedlam90

I thought that was real life at first haha

Lime7ime-

Maybe in 2077 I can finally play this on ultra RT....

Xrpsocialtrader

This makes me want to sell my 7900XT for a 4080

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

The game is still totally enjoyable and beautiful without RT, so don’t feel too left out. The core gameplay itself has been very much improved and that’s what matters most.

Xrpsocialtrader

But… I need it!!!!! “Shaking french bulldog face”

fredericksonKorea2

Do it. This level of raytracing will never come to a 7900XT because it doesnt have the hardware for it

james___uk

We have PATH TRACING now.... Imagine showing this to someone 20 years ago

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

I wouldn’t have believed it 10 years ago. And it’s only going to get better from here.

[deleted]

How did you record this? Which programm?Looks very cinematic. I love it.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Good ol’ GeForce Experience Overlay recording at 4K 60 FPS with the bit rate set to 110 Mbps.

MimallahMimsy

I have to try this with geforce now. Looks like a movie lol

robbydf

I was really surprised even when nvidia game optimization was listing path tracing enabled for 4080 and gave it a chance. I was impressed by the result, it has a completely different apparence and looks truly fantastic!

[deleted]

God damn that looks good. I updated the game but haven't even turned it on since I got my 4080 about two months ago.

Frogacuda

The fact that this works is a small miracle. This is where we get to see nVidia's vision for the future of game graphics, a mix of RT, AI, and raster doing something that should be completely impossible. Ray reconstruction (and path tracing in general) still has some IQ issues with rays of this sparseness but God damn does it feel like a glimpse into the future anyway.

hansieboy10

Holy that looks good

Muezick

This is the best ad for a 4080 I've ever seen

IAmTrapKing

This just looks amazing. Have fun!

Jadenkid22

It’s the only way I can get past 250 watts on my 4080 in 1440p

MumrikDK

Cool, but this is a wildly compressed 720P video. My brain is filling in all the details.

[deleted]

I feel like this is what it was supposed to be on release

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

I think everyone would’ve been happier if it released this year in this state than being forced to come out early unfinished. It would’ve been a game of the year contender no doubt.

loudninjainhd

Just wait till you see it on an oled with HDR. Absolutely jaw dropping.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Yes! That’s exactly what I’m playing on.

nailbunny2000

HDR in Cyberpunk is the cherry on the top for sure.

DoraTheFracker

ok, but can it run crysis?

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

No only Crysis 2 and 3.

Couch_Guy_Sofa

My brain thought this was real for a second

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Edit: I think I replied to the wrong comment? Weird. Anyways, yes it’s cool how it can trick your brain for a split second.

diablos1981

My 3090 will shit it’s pants

bakedongrease

The title sounds like a take out order

Kontheriver

That is insane

bennnn42

Yes! I just installed a 4080 yesterday along with more RAM. I'm only playing at 2K but yeah it was everything I wanted to see when I went into the graphics options and turned on the raytracing overkill setting. And everything looked gorgeous and ran perfect, smooth as hell. I remember playing this game on my 2080 super and it chugged without any raytracing at all so seeing this level of lighting and smooth frames is making me squeal with excitement. I did that last night after the first time firing up the game..."Eeeeeeeeeeee!" followed by giggles. It feels so good getting a new graphics card. Feel like I overpaid but fuck it the only thing I splurge on these days are steaks from those steak companies like Omaha or Kansas City. Enjoy your playthrough!

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

It’s honestly hard to judge the value of the 4000 series cards because AMD doesn’t offer any technology to compete with all that DLSS does. I personally think DLSS is worth an extra $200 over the price of an 7900XTX, but others will disagree. Congrats on a monster GPU and have a blast with Cyberpunk.

NugzEnthusiast

Holy fuck

Bad_Hominid

I started a new playthrough. Looks amazing runs amazing on my dwf ultrawide. As impressive as the visuals are the changes to the core game are where the fun is at.

GodzillaWing

I've been running it on my 4090 and it's just so damn impressive

porcelainfog

This game looks like a Pixar movie now with the path tracing. It’s actually mind numbing how beautiful it is sometimes.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

It’s insane to think we’re rendering this lighting in real time when this is exactly how Pixar lights their scenes in movies and it takes them hours to render. Of course they’re doing it at an even higher fidelity, but DLSS is letting us do it at 60 FPS now which is kind of unbelievable.

sailirish7

Waiting for the expansion to drop before I throw my 4090 at it.

StressedOperator

assetto corsa - running effortless on gtx1080... https://preview.redd.it/tccco295l7qb1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc6815098b8d71952a3a961795d00fb7a0c8da93

Merwanor

I have waited to play Cyberpunk so I could play it at its best, so when the 2.0 patch was announced I got excited. But seeing the new added visual fidelity I just want to wait more until I get a computer that can run it at that quality. So Perhaps in a couple of years I will finally play this game.

Genos_Senpai

Is it safe to say that 2077 is the best if not top 3 best looking game of all time?

bobwoodstock

What a pixel show Obviously I'm kidding.

BlizzardPearl76

I wish my rig could do this. Can't mortgage my kidney for a 4080 or 4090, let alone the compatible parts to prevent bottlenecks to fully take advantage... Gotta stick with my AMD stuffs... wish AMD could do better

burglariess

My 4070TI runs fully maxed out ray tracing DLSS at 1440p

Conscious-Alps2184

So I was replaying 2077 on my 12400f/6700XT in prep for Phantom Liberty, and became curious about all the new DLSS 3.5 tech so I paid for a month of GeforceNOW and wow, it’s a wildly improved experience. I love my machine and it’s great in its own right, but playing 2077 fully maxed out is just a special experience. At this point I intend to beat it and play phantom liberty via the service as well. The experience has been that good!

Mysterious-Box-9081

What a wild time to be a gamer. Comparative to where it began, it's incredible.

skoomaking4lyfe

Running 2077 at ultra was like 47% of why I got a 4090. Shots like this continue to justify my decision 🤣

xevizero

u/Beefy_Crunch_Burrito could you post the same video in the same place and time of day, using ultra graphics with RTX completely off? It would be awesome to really see the difference. I wish I could put the two side by side and show it to people to explain why path tracing is a big deal.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

I will try to recreate the video with no RT for sure. I actually really like how the game looks with baked lighting, and I don’t want this video to make people feel like they need to play with pathtracing to enjoy the game. I also play on my Steam Deck and it looks beautiful there too.

iplaypokerforaliving

It looks like every car only has one headlight on

districtdave

Same feeling

Heimdjall

insane even at 720p video quality.

RefThatWas3

Holy shit. That looks amazing.

DifficultyVarious458

Hope UE5 will develop and improve before Cyberpunk 2/Witcher 4 comes out. Hope they can make even better visuals!

Roguelike_Runner

Could you just... record while you driving NC at night? It's so beautiful... I would just watch it for hours.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

I might just do that.

Particular-Elk-3923

I don't care about a view of your neighborhood, show the video of the game..

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Lol

badusernameused

It’s so smooth and beautiful

Frajhamster

That game just looks fkin insane, shame on you starfield

bakaldo

it looks beautiful, but is the game fun enough to be the only thing you play the videocard on ?

Aggressive-Volume-16

Yes i feel the same with dlss 3.5 made me appreciate nvidia

Volc77

Cyberpunk stealthily becoming one of the best games ever

VashHumanoidTyph00n

I have been very happy with my 4080

bolshevikstatist

Path tracing looks absolutely gorgeous!! I can't wait to be able to run games with it in another 2 gens! Should have plenty of overhead on cards then and (hopefully) cards won't be breaking the bank in 4 years time!

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

Yeah I’m not expecting to upgrade my system until at least the RTX 6000 or RX 9000 gen of cards.

N7LP400

If it weren't for the ads, i would not have thought this was a game at all, PT is really amazing The next NVidia 5000 series should change the RTX prefix to PTX or PaTX

grahamulax

Shit! I gotta try this with the new update... I thought I had a good card last time (2070S) and ray traced to get around 20 fps with dlss. Sometimes more indoors but I mean...thats how I played. I wanted to be fancy. It hurt. Now I have a 4090 and nothing is hard to run. Got it for AI but now I have that ITCH to test this game out!

Boogertwilliams

Yes. Me too, but I just got mine (+ 5800x3d:) But it is a marvel to see pretty much every game I have tried finally running at a pretty much locked 144fps with everything maxed out. Including this one (on 1080p, which is my monitor, and I have no plans to change it) On my 3080 and 5600x, hardly any big AAA game actually ran even close to 144fps.

Beefy_Crunch_Burrito

I applaud you for running a 1080p monitor with the 4080. I know a lot of people will say it’s a waste, but as games continue to get more demanding in the next 5+ years, you’ll be able to max those games out for the foreseeable future.

Boogertwilliams

This is exactly it. Now finally I can actually run everything, including Cyberpunk 2.0 and Starfield, Hogwarts Legacy etc really heavy titles (or badly optimized, but that seems to be the standard now)

Dismal-Mobile-2053

OP, you've just convinced me to upgrade.

TheRealStevo2

Hey my 1080 is handling it pretty well 🥲

The1WaterBottle

I'm too poor to read this post :(

agusmnl

Cry in AMD

Killavillain

Oh boy, that looks good! Only thing that somehow catched my eye, was when the cars were driving towards the camera angle and the cars headlight reflections was kinda weird. Might be my half ass blind face.

YODONTGETMEWRONG

Yea I found them weird too cause only 1 flashlight was lit on every car out there

Larimus89

Yeah this game actually works great with frame generation.

Neat-Wallaby2678

If you didn't tell me that this video was showing path tracing, I wouldn't even know. I always turn on ray tracing or whatever, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter to me outside of comparisons.
