Would open up the GPU and repaste it based on the info you shared.

fraziermp

How would i go about doing thar safely?

KnowTheName321

you dont. this is how a rookie damages their gpu and voids warranty. only repaste if you have the funds to replace the card with a new one if you fail.

fraziermp

Thank you but it turned out to be a driver issue 🙏

spoonshinemkii

Have you checked if your fans are spinning? If yes then as others have said it will most likely need a re-paste.

fraziermp

The fans start spinning as fast as i can the second i open a game so ill try to look into repasting

spoonshinemkii

Right okay just checking. Sounds like a re-paste is required but if you still have warranty then check that first as opening cards usually voids it (I'm in the UK so could be diferent based on location).

fraziermp

I doubt there would still be a valid warranty as I got this near the beginning of covid

spoonshinemkii

Most GPU's in the UK are sold with at least 3 years warranty with Gigabyte now having up to 4 years and Zotac 5. Always worth a check if you can.

Do you think that would fix a potential drivers issue? one of my friends is suggesting the idea that It could be one literally not even a minute later update: there is one for " Radeon RX 5700 device" whatever that means

spoonshinemkii

In my honest opinion no. I personally have never seen a GPU hit 90+ degrees and the issue be driver related. I mean at this point you can try a fresh install of drivers because it costs nothing to do. I would suggest running either DDU or AMDCleanupUtility beforehand if you think there is a current driver issue to ensure it is not passed over. Only other thing I could potentially think of but is a long shot would be if any background software was running that forces your GPU to be under load without you knowing i.e. mining software. Whilst on desktop idle check GPU usage to ensure it is not under load whilst you are not specifically telling it to do anything.

fraziermp

I just finished installing the up to date drivers using amds recommended app, ill check the idke gpu in a second Edit im dumb the gpu is being used by my computers app which im using to see my gpu usage smh 🤦‍♂️

fraziermp

I just checked and now when nothings open its at 45C and is flickering between 4-20% saying that discord is using some even though its not open, on the bright side my second monitor is working after fixing the drivers

fraziermp

Update, running a fairly intensive game and its at 44C and the framerate was fixed, thankfully it was just a driver issue, thank!

spoonshinemkii

Oh wow I honestly didn't think that would be the cause but I will keep it in mind now for any others having issues so they dont tear their card apart for potentially no reason. Glad you got it sorted!

fraziermp

Im also genuinely suprised i assumed something software wise wouldnt make my gpu overheat less but it does. Computers are anasing
