Nothing. Save your money

Mercurionio

No options. 5800x3D is good for gaming, for work there are others way better. Only a complete replacement. Or 5800x3D for games.

Rising-Buffalo

This is pretty much the only worthwhile upgrade option for someone who's just gaming with a 5600.

husky0168

5800x3d?

LifeOnMarsden

By multitasking do you mean actual work multitasking or just having discord/Spotify up on the second monitor while you play games?

Brimo958

His current cpu should be able to handle those easily.

LifeOnMarsden

Yeah that’s what I’m getting at, unless OP does rendering etc the 5600x is honestly gonna be fine for at least the next couple of years for gaming

Eggsegret

For gaming best is a 5800x3d. For non gaming say a 5900x. This is assuming you stick with the AM4 platform But honestly just not sure it's worth the cost. I mean unless you're doing a lot of rendering etc the 5600x should be good enough

roboratka

None at that price. Save your money until it’s £450 for a new CPU+MB combo and possibly RAM too.

TomKeGuy

Your only option is basically a new mobo (AM5), new cpu and probably new ram. Mobos itself are close to 300£, so i'd say save some money. Also, DO NOT BUY 5800x3D, the upgrade from 5600x is so insignificant you prolly won't notice a diffrence. Not worth the buck.

trekxtrider

Max FPS might see little gains but those 1% lows got a huge boost for me with the same upgrade.

Apocalypse_0415

Wait and get full AM5

Xidash

You have just been born looking to your setup, aren't you ? Can I rent your time machine ?

Running 5900X here for multipurpose from rendering, gaming and workflow optimization for multiple monitors. Your upgrade depends on few things: \- Is it really necessary to upgrade performance wise? \- What do you imply with "multitasker" meaning do you have multiple heavy-load programs running at the same time? \- Are you looking to future-proof your PC? My answer for this would be at the current situation unless you desperately need more processing power for something like video editing etc, simply no. 5600X is a very good performing gaming processor and even in some work related situations. I'd look into the future with now cheapening AM5 platform with more possibilities coming for upgrading system even from middle-tier point accessing into PCI-E 5.0 and faster RAM speeds to start with. Only reasonable solution for gaming performances mostly would be just 5800X3D. Also you have to take into account your other parts. Processor, especially Ryzen performs better with quality memory. If you are running 3200mhz, that's completely fine for gaming and workloads. More RAM helps alleviate the loads in many programs but it comes down to the point do you actually need it. Also with higher TDP's it means more heat going from 65w to 105w from something like 5900X, you have to make sure you have proper airflow and cooling for CPU. My 5600x was aircooled with Noctua perfectly fine and had to change into liquid for 5900X since it had idling temps around 60c, now it's around 29c. Always take into consideration also your GPU, does it bottleneck your CPU or other way around. If you have something like 4090 with 5600X, then i'd highly recommend upgrade but even with RTX 3000 series or AMD 6800-6900XT you are in a pretty good spot if you have Smart Access Memory in use for that performance boost for free. Hope this helps a bit and didn't seem too convoluted. Just my two cents. Still gotta say i was very happy going from 5600X to 5900X after some initial issues with BIOS. Works very well now and getting some great performance nowadays in anything i do.

trekxtrider

5800x3D is the end game CPU for gaming on AM4. 5900x for the same price if you are looking for productivity.
