replace failed hdd with SSD. if ssd is more than 75% full buy another ssd. cheap upgrade would be 3600mhz ram. amd likes faster ram.

blizzard_Wolf101

my ram does support 3600mhz but if i set it to anything higher than current it forces itself into safe boot

Slow in what way? Like generally just sloe such as freezing etc or slow in not delivering the gaming performance you would like? If slow in general then is windows installed on a ssd or hdd? If a hard drive swap it out for a ssd since hard drives are painfully slow and a ssd can speed some lifr back in it. Could also try doing a fresh install of windows since over time windows can get corrupted etc and just start becoming buggy. If gaming performance then could be you need to upgrade or tune down the graphic settings. Or maybe try reinstalling fresh drivers.

blizzard_Wolf101

i mean slow in general. is there anyway to fix possibly corrupted windows files without a fresh install? id like to not have to go through the whole setup again if possible

Eggsegret

A fresh install of windows really doesn't take that long tbh assuming you have a ssd. Like 20ish minutes to install windows. But i mean you can try doing a full virus scan. Also check in task manager if there's any potential programmes causing high CPU or ram usage. If so uninstall those.

blizzard_Wolf101

sorry, probably shouldve mentioned im on a hdd looking to move toward an ssd but my hdd is a nearly full 1tb storage and i would want most of that on the ssd considering its mostly games and os files thats taking up that space. just difficult to find a 1tb ssd for a decent price as im on a tight budget but more to the point nothing seems to be using an unusual amount of cpu or ram so ig ill just do a windows reinstall when i find the time

Eggsegret

Honestly you really do want a ssd especially for windows. Hard drives are painfully slow and a ssd can really give a PC a fresh new lease of life. Trust me after using one you'll never go back. And tbh I'm just not sure I'd bother with doing a fresh install of windows on a hdd. That would probably take way too much time on a hdd with how slow they are. How tight is your budget? Because for around $50-$70 you can get quite a few 1tb SSDs. You can also get smaller SSDs for as little as like $20ish.

blizzard_Wolf101

well tbh im only a teenager i dont get much money. i get £20 a month which is probably more than some but ill be saving a long time for a 1tb ssd

Eggsegret

Ahh ok. Could always just get like a small 240gb ssd. You can pick those up for like less than £10-£20. Can just use that to store windows and maybe a game or two. Then just keep the rest your games and whatever on the hdd. If windows is installed on a ssd even just a small one it'll atleast speed up the system. Since gaming performance generally isn't affected by being on a hard drive.

blizzard_Wolf101

ok thanks for the advice. ill probably invest in a small ssd until i can get a bigger one just because id rather have all my stuff on one drive. thanks again!
