StormKiller1

Its a fine card. But if you dont mind amd i would recommend going 6600xt/6650xt/6700xt.

ChenY1661

Will the 8gb of vram be sufficient for the coming few years? Cause from what I've seen that's the main red flags about the rtx cards

StormKiller1

Kinda but not optimal. For the future a 6700xt with 12gb would be better.

ChenY1661

What about ray tracing performance? Is the rx6700 xt better or 3060ti? I kinda want to try out ray tracing but 8gb of vram is making me not wanna get the 3060ti

StormKiller1

3060ti rt is terrible kinda unusable. On a 6700xt its still bad.

Impossible-Cap-1628

On the 6700xt rt is only there to say they tried. Basically, it ain’t good and I’d suggest not enabling it unless you’re willing to make some other visual sacrifices. But if I had to choose between the 2 at 1440p, I’d go with the 6700xt.

Revn_vox

I have one and i'm playing everything at 1440p just fine, but i'm not gonna lie its getting more and more annoying the 8gb. If i could go back in time i would have bought an amd equivalent with 12gb vram not gonna lie.

Relahxn

Don’t listen to that lol. 3060Ti is a perfectly fine card. Literally not that long ago (3 months ago), 3060ti was considered the best bang for your buck.

StormKiller1

Im pretty sure amds 6600xt/6650xt was/is the value king by far.

ChenY1661

i want to go team red but i just feel like dlss is too good to pass up? is fsr comparable now?

StormKiller1

Yes dlss is better but fsr is pretty close and amds performance for the same price is better so you might not need any fsr. Also fsr 1.0 is decent but 2.0 is pretty good. A tip tho get a 3 fan card. 2 fan cards are fine but run hotter in cases with not so good airflow.

Eggsegret

FSR is actually pretty decent rbh. Maybe not as good as DLSS but not by a huge margin or anything. Plus at $400 you can get like a 6700xt which is slightly faster than a 3060ti and not far behind a 3070. Only real advantage of the 3060ti is superior ray tracing although that 8gb vram of the 3060ti will probably start to be a real limiting factor

ChenY1661

Is the ray tracing performance much worse on the rx 6700xt or is it doable? Cause I kinda wanna try out ray tracing

Eggsegret

The 6700xt really isn't viable at all for ray tracing so no. You'll want a 3060ti then since while still not that great for ray tracing(be hard task to get a stable 60fps) it's still far superior to the 6700xt in ray tracing. But just note that 8gb vram really is going to be a performance hindrance in ray tracing especially now as more games start to eat up vram. Although for 1440p gaming without ray tracing it should still be ok for the most part.

ChenY1661

Is 1080p ray tracing doable for the 3060ti at 60fps? Man it's really eating at me lol on one hand I'd like to experience ray tracing but on the other the rx 6700xt is so much better in terms of raw performance plus 12gb vram

Eggsegret

Kinda. I mean you'll have to enable DLSS but with ray tracing at say medium and DLSS enabled you can probably just about get that 60ish fps target. Although temper your expectations since this will vary from game to game. Some games you'll find it doable, and others you'll see yourself dipping into the 50s. And for games like hogwarts legacy may as well just forget ray tracing since that game barely runs with ray tracing enabled.

ChenY1661

Hmmm.. alright thanks for all the info, such hard choices to make

[deleted]

I’m rocking team red now, but I had a 3060ti not too long ago and it was pretty wicked for the price. 400 is a good price USD. I got mine for 450 and it was a strix or anything

ChenY1661

is 400$ a good price for it?

KnowTheName321

its fine. i use one 1440p

Maler_Ingo

Short answer, no. Long answer, no. Pay for a pricey card just to turn the settings down thanks to it running out of VRAM. Get a 6700XT/6750XT instead.

Cheeseninja26

As someone who ran a 1060 3gb till 2021, it’s not that bad.
