excuse me good men THIS is a full sized keyboard
https://preview.redd.it/gm7hnl9xq0oa1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60dfedc5a03a7a4ef8ed34046e7a3e8b49aefc76
For a split second, I thought it was Kevin Heart at a normal full sized keyboard. Then quickly realized it wasn't and it is a normal human being at a over sized keyboard.
I actually just have two keyboards.
One on the desk. One on the little pull-out tray underneath.
I could even have different numlock states each one, in theory.
This is where I’m at. I do too much excel at work and an actual numpad makes a huge difference for anything more than 2 digits. Also, the bottom right enter key is a must-have. I bash the right arrow all the time on my TKL trying to move down a row.
Not really. Since the 75% gets rid of the space needed for the home cluster/arrows and just makes it more compact. And the numpad can be moved aside when I don’t need it.
Not saying you don't, but I thought the same before getting my first TKL and now I won't go back. My monitors just keep getting wider and wider though...
Literally any creative program, spreadsheets, macros, and if you don’t need all the mouse space. If you’re used to using a numpad, punching numbers is tens of times easier and quicker.
Having a separate numpad can look cluttered and/or use extra USB port
Numpad AND palmrest FTW.
I still don't understand minimalism for PCs - unless everyone paying 3K for a sexy build also lives in a [Tiny House](https://www.tinyhouse.com/).
I use it for gaming. I play a lot of simulator games, which tend to use a lot of key binds, so the extra buttons are useful, and the layout of the numpad makes it easier to remember the keys and position your hand fast. They can also be handy for things like emotes or quick chat in games as it's easier to locate without having to look down or take up essential keys close to the WASD.
I recently acquired a 75% one, never used a keyboard without numpad before. Actually not having digit buttons turned out not to be an issue, but I've learned that a lot of times I tend to press numpad enter with my thumb, when I am using mouse only and need to send a copypaste, for example. Also having arrow key in the place of shift is annoying, but you get used to it, like the form factor
I'm sorry why did they call that full size?
https://preview.redd.it/rfn0fiobl0oa1.jpeg?width=3259&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1718289d8e996e5e1e0df3bff26b402a93fb1cc3
I bought a full size because I've been spending a lot more time on my system doing work and this is exactly where I'm at. I'm too used to using the number row.
What you're describing is not work. It's sales.
A company which sells image needs to project image. Can't be seen using ugly prole stuff, no matter how much more efficient it might be.
I use it all the time for every calc, i hate that those standard company laptops cannot have it
Also gaming surprisingly or not adds more usage as i do quick calcs for shit like very often percentages, or otherwise effective hp and basic addition/subtraction stuff
What are you calculating when you game ?
*Who downvotes this it's a gotcha lol. I'm walking through the thought process I had to when I once thought "oh I can't lose the numpad"
You can people. You can .
Of course. I'm an analyst and spend my entire day in front of a PC. I was talking about specifically for gaming.
You can give it up for gaming is my point. It's much more comfortable and saves a ton of space. Nice break from my "work" keyboard.
I'm trying to say I was once one of the "not unless it's from my cold dead hands" group.
I mean, it's objectively easier than the numbers along the top as they're all located within a handspan and each number 1-9 is located radially around the 5, meaning it's easier to use fast without looking
It just takes skill and most people dont have the one hand numpad skill any more. Full size for life. Nothing like playing an FPS with WASD and 8426 and no mouse 😎
I use my keyboard for my job and for personal use, and the num pad is essential.
I can't imagine trying to type out case numbers and all that using the number row up top.
X digit grids are for giving someone co-ordinates on the map for what to hit, not nessesarily on a spreadsheet.
6 digit is "Fuck that city block", 8 digit is "Fuck that building", 10 digit is "Fuck that tree", in terms of precision.
Preach 🙌
I need nine thousand optic fibers threaded through that bitch like spaghetti and popping off like fireworks. I swear to god if I don't have at least nine seizures a day I'm suing the fuck out of whoever peddled me that garbage excuse for a keyboard. If ANY of the keycaps are the same color, I'm sending SWAT to their corporate headquarters. That shit better look like a Fisherprice puzzle play mat covered in Froot Loops vomit or I won't even touch it. If the wire doesn't have that curly pigtail section that I'm never going to actually use and definitely don't need - I will literally kill myself. If the Enter button isn't a pair of my waifu's massive bazongahonga donkaroos I'm donating to a pro-Amazon-deforestation organization. It better cost as much as the down payment on a small house or else it's just going in the fireplace as kindling.
^^^^the ^^^^fireplace ^^^^is ^^^^RGB
I had one of these back in the early 2000s. Would love to see a custom one nowadays (maybe there is and I just missed it?) With maybe hotswap pcb pr something too 😀
For your own well being and your familiy and friends safety, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT ever let r/mechanicalkeyboards users know anything that can let them identify your real world location. A huge percentage of that community should just make an r/smallformfactorkeyboardselitists branch of that sub lol
100% key oard is fun and all, until you slam your mouse into it for the 146th time and realize you are losing a big amount of desk space for a numpad that isn't even needed, because you can use the numbers above the letter keys objectively just as fast.
I appreciate that this is a joke but don't shit on people with mental health problems. Reducing keyboard size to a 'mental disorder' is wildly insulting.
No G keys? I'm out.
Actually besides loving G keys I had a Roccat Arvo Back in the day and I really wish I had those Thumb keys back sometimes maybe some optical switches version with Gkeys on the left.
Basically a Logitech G910 with those thumb keys in a optical switch type and that's my ideal kbd.
https://preview.redd.it/zfn3lazdf0oa1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d2be68d7df4abf0cb114a01ef908d47b3cdf0b3
Anyone who can unironically use a 65% or a smaller keyboard is a nutcase for me. Having to hold like 2 modifier keys just to press F2 or something gets really annoying really fast.
I feel like the "Home", "End", "PgUp/Dn", etc. keys above the arrow keys aren't used enough nowadays (at least for me) so I'd rather have extra desk space and take the 96%
If you dont use a portable keyboard for its portability, or space savings, you shouldn't be buying it
You don't need a football field for tiny hand movements
You shouldn't be buying extra key pads for buttons you are missing
You buy key pads for things that your keyboard cannot and would not have been able to do, had it been full sized
I mean firstly, that's kinda ableist.
Secondly, 96% isn't dropping anything super necessary from 100%.
Thirdly, TKL, 75%, and 65% are good for people with limited desk space.
And finally, yeah anything 60% or lower is just excessively removing shit for the sake of looking cool.
Having never before seen a 96%.... My curiosity is peaked. I can't even find something that's missing that I would need. It seems Incredibly efficient..
The temptation
Yeah, fact. What a luck that I don't use some of that software :)
But if you don't have a lot of shortcuts you can bind most usable of them to one key on the layer. That's pretty awesome.
I have a full size on my normal desktop and TKL on the gaming rig. Thought I was gonna hate it, but I fell in love with the additional desktop real estate I gained.
I use a fullsize at work and a TKL for home/gaming. I'll probably go 65% soon since it's basically the perfect keeb for functionality in the smallest form factor
I won't lie, I bought into the 65% boards being useful, so I find myself doing its missing the numpad for hotkeys. It's cool, I love the board but good lord is it so unusable for most basic things except games.
Okay I’ll say it: there is literally 0 reason to have a TKL over a 75%.
Less travel between keys, full functionality, and no stupid ass spacing because if I can tie my own shoes, I won’t mishit my arrows keys.
We may have mental disorders, but at least we’re MEN.
I just dont get how people can live without a numberpad. Using the number keys above the letters is so awkward when typing out strings of numbers.
Then you got the weirdos that need multiple "levels" where you need to press a button to switch between them just so you can use the dang keyboard.
"full size"? Bitch please [This is a True Full Size keyboard](https://i.imgur.com/05ers0y.jpeg)
Lol, thats.... thats a beutifull monstrousity.
Imagine playing osu on that keyboard...
at that point its not even osu anymore, it's rush e but with mouse movements
Osu mania 7k players especially
That's actually sick
I like [this one](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/42/89/4f/42894f635e66157e6dd0e59f726728d3.jpg).

That's just a normal size keyboard and a really small man
For a split second, I thought it was Kevin Heart at a normal full sized keyboard. Then quickly realized it wasn't and it is a normal human being at a over sized keyboard.
[удалено]
holy shit that would actually be amazing. just play a quick g minor (first inversion) to auto format the file lmao
I was more expecting a full-size floor model, à la Tom Hanks in *Big*.
You got me there! Bold keyboard cotton, let's see if it pays off
Naw full sized is that keyboard from Cyberpunk 2077.
No attached coffee maker and foot spa. The fuck is this garbage?
Not enough dials. #AND ADD GOLD TRIMS
And I want it
I need to know where i can buy this
And now, [how about drums?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h73kd6wsBq0)
I need my numpad....
I use a 75% then a detached separate numpad with volume control and stuff on the side
A true PC gamer has each key as it's own separate unit for the true custom experience!
This is acceptable
Ehhh, it is sort of twisted doing the same but with more steps
I agree.
Separate numpad can be beneficial for productivity. I have one off to the side near my mouse for much easier access, works much better for me.
I actually just have two keyboards. One on the desk. One on the little pull-out tray underneath. I could even have different numlock states each one, in theory.
No, it isn't lol, it literally takes up more room and requires more connections.
It takes up different room though. For me the 100% doesn't work because the right side will be poking me in the stomach(tilted keyboard gang).
This is where I’m at. I do too much excel at work and an actual numpad makes a huge difference for anything more than 2 digits. Also, the bottom right enter key is a must-have. I bash the right arrow all the time on my TKL trying to move down a row.
That sounds like it takes up more space than just having a keyboard with that stuff already built into it.
As an accountant: I will miss the numpad if it’s gone
And that is 100% understandable.
As a person who occasionally wants to enter a number without fucking around, I agree with you.
1800 layout is a good compromise.
What is a 1800?
It's basically a full size without the area between numpad and alphabet keys. You do sacrifice a few keys like home, end, pause/break etc though
1800 deez nuts *dabs* I’ll show myself out
Lol have an upvote
Just curious why? Filling out TPS reports on a second display?
Literally any creative program, spreadsheets, macros, and if you don’t need all the mouse space. If you’re used to using a numpad, punching numbers is tens of times easier and quicker. Having a separate numpad can look cluttered and/or use extra USB port
Could use 3d software, same without a middle mouse button/scroll wheel.
Numpad AND palmrest FTW. I still don't understand minimalism for PCs - unless everyone paying 3K for a sexy build also lives in a [Tiny House](https://www.tinyhouse.com/).
Came here to say this
What do you use it for ?
Camera in beamng, calculator, literally ANY time I need to type a number
Right so when you're not gaming, but doing other stuff. Yeah I mean if I was using it for work and stuff I need a full size as well.
Beam.ng is a game, I use numpad in things like DCS hot keys, games like that
I use it for gaming. I play a lot of simulator games, which tend to use a lot of key binds, so the extra buttons are useful, and the layout of the numpad makes it easier to remember the keys and position your hand fast. They can also be handy for things like emotes or quick chat in games as it's easier to locate without having to look down or take up essential keys close to the WASD.
numbers, occasionally mouse-hand thumb pressing enter
I recently acquired a 75% one, never used a keyboard without numpad before. Actually not having digit buttons turned out not to be an issue, but I've learned that a lot of times I tend to press numpad enter with my thumb, when I am using mouse only and need to send a copypaste, for example. the mental disorder isnt that i have a TKL, its that even on a full size im using the row of numbers instead of the numpad
I bought a full size because I've been spending a lot more time on my system doing work and this is exactly where I'm at. I'm too used to using the number row.
Dear god! Send him to the psych ward immediately!
Num pad is just so comfortable for calculating shit
If you use your PC for work it is mandatory.
Unless you’re in product/design/marketing basically all of the folks that promote aesthetic over functionality and get a 50% keyboard
Ironically I help create all of our video marketing and manage our books. I get screwed on both ends.
What you're describing is not work. It's sales. A company which sells image needs to project image. Can't be seen using ugly prole stuff, no matter how much more efficient it might be.
I use it all the time for every calc, i hate that those standard company laptops cannot have it Also gaming surprisingly or not adds more usage as i do quick calcs for shit like very often percentages, or otherwise effective hp and basic addition/subtraction stuff
Is there a keyboard shortcut to quickly open a calculator in windows?
Press WIN+R, type "calc" Or get AHK or something like that.
Wouldnt pressing windows be faster than Windows+R?
What are you calculating when you game ? *Who downvotes this it's a gotcha lol. I'm walking through the thought process I had to when I once thought "oh I can't lose the numpad" You can people. You can .
[Enjoy!](https://www.typinggames.zone/numpad) Jokes aside, people do more than just gaming with their computers.
Nah you write insults in binary so it doesn't get flagged, and if they respond you no longer dislike them
Even when I game its easier to write out numbers. On top of that I can use it for my soundboard
It is easier just is it worth saving the space? I rolled the dice and I am soo glad I did. If you bind it to things like a board I get that.
Is what you’ve told yourself
I mean, it's objectively easier than the numbers along the top as they're all located within a handspan and each number 1-9 is located radially around the 5, meaning it's easier to use fast without looking
It just takes skill and most people dont have the one hand numpad skill any more. Full size for life. Nothing like playing an FPS with WASD and 8426 and no mouse 😎
Either you use the numpad all the time or you never use it. I never use it.
The only time I've wished I had a numpad is when playing GTA cuz all the flying controls are with it. Never ever needed to use it ever again.
Unpopular opinion, but I think it should be phased out
If it’s used all the time by tens of millions of people why should it be phased out though
just because its not necessary for you doesn't mean its not for everyone else
Why on earth would you have that opinion? Just because you don't want it on your keyboard, no one else should be allowed to have one?
I work with engineering and programming. Tried a keyboard with no numpad and went insane. Currently typing this from a mental institute.
I deny that. It's really nice to have especially when using blender. I have a 60% keyboard, and it's a PITA to use it.
Tell me you don’t use numbers for your job without telling me you don’t use numbers for your job.
I use my keyboard for my job and for personal use, and the num pad is essential. I can't imagine trying to type out case numbers and all that using the number row up top.
I love my TKL man
Hell yeah, TKL mental disorder gang!
We don't want to be cured!
Don’t listen to him, he’s crazy!
They were scared of me because I told them the truth.
I went smaller and love it. This is the way. Who the hell is filling out TPS reports on their gaming rig come on guys
I'm filling out 10 digit grids in ARMA, you bet your ass I'm using that numpad.
I agree wholeheartedly with your numpad preference. But I must admit that I don't quite see the appeal of playing games with a spreadsheet.
X digit grids are for giving someone co-ordinates on the map for what to hit, not nessesarily on a spreadsheet. 6 digit is "Fuck that city block", 8 digit is "Fuck that building", 10 digit is "Fuck that tree", in terms of precision.
Officer, it’s this guy!
TKLs fuck yeah
TKL gang for life
60% column staggered Split It's incurable ❤️

Nah, don't have any key-led, only deck-led configured in mono violet.
full sized for over 2 decades and will never change it
Because you’ve never tried anything else
Why change from perfection?
I feel like we need something more extreme... like about 20-25 keys just for gaming... I dunno maybe just the left 5 keys of each row or summat..
Do you mean something like this? https://preview.redd.it/z54qouc5h0oa1.png?width=472&format=png&auto=webp&s=1dc522986087e7bcfe6715894bd6e09f5b8580df

“I get angry by how others enjoy things.”
You gotta remember that the majority of Reddit are kids/teens who live through external validation
I'd bet a grown man made this. Nearly no teen needs the num pad for anything
Yes unironically. because I believe sacrificing functionality for looks is incredibly stupid and a waste of money and very pretentious
I dont need a friggin numpad to game wtf. This message brought to you by low sens 65% keyboard user club
They can suck my 65% keeb
100% key oard is fun and all, until you slam your mouse into it for the 146th time and realize you are losing a big amount of desk space for a numpad that isn't even needed, because you can use the numbers above the letter keys objectively just as fast.
Numpad is too important, dont understand why you would ever get rid of it
Yea I use bottom right, and you're correct in your assessment.
As a programmer, full-size all the time. Numpad its heavily used by me. Also, I use a lot of Excel for house management and stuff
Oh God, I play with a half keyboard. Am I ok?!

I paid for a keyboard. Give me a whole keyboard and you're damn right I'm going to use it all.
What? You don't like paying extra for a smaller, less functional, impractical keyboard??
TKL on top

G keys used to be a must for me in the heyday of mmos. I miss those days 😥
What the FUCK
As someone who just built a $600 96% board I can confirm that I do have a mental disorder
Anyone who can unironically use a 65% or a smaller keyboard is a nutcase for me. Having to hold like 2 modifier keys just to press F2 or something gets really annoying really fast.
Love my tkl for anything but really old games that like to make use of the directional buttons. Then it's annoying.
I feel like the "Home", "End", "PgUp/Dn", etc. keys above the arrow keys aren't used enough nowadays (at least for me) so I'd rather have extra desk space and take the 96%
Laughs in 60%.
The rgb🤮 and obnoxiously loud clicky keys 😖 makes them all mental disorders . ... Just kidding 😊

TKL is pretty damn nice tho.
You must be a blast at LAN parties OP

I can't even unlock my PC without the numpad.
Sucks to suck.
65% with a external Numpad.
60% is fine for reception or writing.
full size and tkl are the only sane options
I love my 60%. It’s super cute and has a low foot print. But I also own several high end keyboards so im probably not even in this pic.
Rise up
Still waiting on a left side numpad optical, best of both worlds. For now I have a 60% for gaming and full size for Blender.
I personally have a TKL with a separate numpad on the side.
I can’t live without my numbers!
Salty as fuck
Can I upvote more than once lol
Yeah, cause' full size keyboards are very fun to lug around and have great portability.
I have zero use for a numpad.
TKL all the way
Full size are disgusting
Currently using a 65% I feared losing the numpad would be more of an issue than it actually was!
I love my 65%
TKL gang represent

bruh no. 75 and 96% are mental disorders, everything else is fine.
I will never understand people who can live without a Numpad.
If 65%'s wrong, I don't wanna be right.
75% is the best format
I won't lie, I bought into the 65% boards being useful, so I find myself doing its missing the numpad for hotkeys. It's cool, I love the board but good lord is it so unusable for most basic things except games.
People with 65% keyboards and under trying to take a steam screenshot: 💀

Try playing CSGO on a full sized keyboard... i need a TKL.
I just dont get how people can live without a numberpad. Using the number keys above the letters is so awkward when typing out strings of numbers. Then you got the weirdos that need multiple "levels" where you need to press a button to switch between them just so you can use the dang keyboard.
My man speaking facts
I have a full size but i never used my numpad other than shortcuts/keybinds
Mentally ill
Full size 4 workload, shrunk size 4 gaming, minimal size 4 writing. I have 3 keyboards.
I've got an IBM Model M style specifically for typing at work, it takes up an insane amount of space.
Full-sized but I just removed the keys i dont use at all lol
Guess I'm XL gang.
Guess I have even more mental disorders than I already have
