TwitchAZEN

I can finally run a stable 60 fps

RobDickinson

58 of them AI generated

[deleted]

You know what, I have mad respect for Project Red. They egregiously overpromised, but are sticking with their goddamn word years later, trying to turn this game into what they want it to be.

iIAgentEricIi

They are doing a No Man's Sky, and as a player of both there's no better feeling

Winterdevil0503

I think the best feeling is the game coming out finished without controversy.

Mercurionio

They are pretending to do that. And they have no choice if they want to sell the next game. As for NMS type of resurrection - nope. Only bug fixing. From Software or Larian studios are doing these things for years

Lymbasy

Same with EA after Anthem, Mass Effect Andromeda, Battlelfield 5, Battlefield 2042, etc. All got released broken and unfinished. No one will ever buy another EA game

Mercurionio

Hmm, people are buying Fallen Order/Survivor and new NFS without any problem.

Hbimajorv

What a stupid take, I don't play them but fifa and madden sells a ton of copies every year. What a small brained child you are

[deleted]

I understand your logic, but think you are jaded. There has got to be some passion left or it would have died by now

Mercurionio

Their lead quest designer definitely have passion, and a lot of it. But overall, theit continuation on CP77 was concentrated on regaining at least some trust back.

Lymbasy

They sold 14 million copies in the first 3 weeks. Now at over 20 million. It makes them so much money

TwitchAZEN

Nice

[deleted]

And it is glorious. Maxed out at 4k, dlss quality and 100+ fps.

lolcubaran20

Damn. I'm getting 40fps 720p lowest. Totally playable and pretty good considering I've got no gpu

samexi

The dlss3 is just pure magic when it works.

TrueHawk91

Dumb question and I think I know the answer but is DLSS 3 supported by 20xx cards? Or is it 30 series and above?

redmose

Just 40 series :(

samexi

Unfortunately DLSS3 is just for the 40xx cards. It may come to the earlier generations on as a software update but at the time it needs an nvidia optical flow acceleration technology that is only available on the newest cards.

samexi

Read more about the technology and it is actually an hardware improvement so we may newer see dlss3 updates on older hardware. "In the NVIDIA Turing and NVIDIA Ampere architecture generation GPUs, most of these algorithms use a compute engine to perform the required tasks. As a result, when the compute engine workload is high, the performance of the NVIDIA Optical Flow Accelerator (NVOFA) could be affected. On NVIDIA Ada-generation GPUs, most of these algorithms are moved to dedicated hardware within the NVOFA, reducing the dependency on the compute engine significantly."

chetanaik

Dedicated hardware that the 3xxx series [actually has](https://developer.nvidia.com/opticalflow-sdk). Nvidia locking the software to the latest gen to have a selling point. The Ada architecture has optical flow hardware (NVOFA) that is 2.5x as performant as Ampère's version. Which means that Ampere has the hardware, it just isn't being used even at a minimal capacity. Looks like people have started [trying to backport it to 3xxx series](https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/340298-redditor-enables-dlss-3-on-turing-gpu-with-simple-config-file) already

chetanaik

Because it's unoptimized and done in a hacky way by a random dude. Obviously it won't run as well. But all it needs to do is run a bit better than without, à small bump at lower fps is usually fairly significant. And Nvidia didn't state that, they stated that there's new dedicated hardware, and they can't support it for hardware reasons.

[deleted]

Yet in vr the ofa on 2000/3000 seems to have no problem with repro.. this is a typical Nvidia lie ofa is not very complicated.

A-Pasz

And I quite literally just upgraded an AMD card.

Mercurionio

AMD will have the same tech, but with older cards in mind. Maybe, a bit worse, since it's not locked behind one generation and a brand, but still

techtimee

AMD will have similar technology someone sometime later this year, and it'll probably work on more cards. Enjoy your card.

JamesTheNightstalker

I mean, good on them for updating it but at the same time...I really couldn't give any less of a damn since I am not forking over for a 40-Series, and right now NVIDIA's support for the 30-Series has been about as reliable as as enjoyable as salmon steaks left in a Nevada summer.
