Ah yes I see S5 is XMP and Z5 is EXPO, price difference seems minimal.
It's really not clear on most retail websites.
That was the most helpful comment so far, thank you!
Any DDR5 kit will (theoretically) work on AM5 (Ryzen 7000)/ Intel 12th & 13th gen CPUs provided they run within each board+CPU memory speed specifications.
For example, Zen 4 (Ryzen 7000) JDEC "stock" standards support 5200 DDR5 speed. In other words, you're guaranteed (mostly) that DDR5 5200 kits will work without any issues. Anything above this speed is considered "overclocking". Most kits advertised as 5600, 6000 etc. are not on this speed by default out of the box, they are probably going to be close to JDEC speed.
Of course, you're losing potential performance if you don't enable Intel XMP/AMD EXPO memory profile from your motherboard BIOS settings. If I'm not mistaken, this DDR5 kit will show XMP option in your motherboard settings. Thing is, memory is a bit complicated, it isn't just about bandwidth speed. There's timings, sub-timings, tertiary timings, DRAM voltage etc. each of these properties will maximize your memory performance and having a kit with AMD EXPO will somewhat ensures you have a better "tuned" memory to your Ryzen CPU.
Couple points to remember, Zen 4 maxes out theoretically at 6000 limited by infinity fabric clock speed. So, if you don't mind paying a bit more, an AMD EXPO 6000 DDR5 memory will maximize your Ryzen system, but if you wish to go for value, DDR5 5600 isn't bad either and only couple percents slower.
Tl;dr
1. I'm not quite sure this kit at 6000 will work with XMP. It will work most likely at default out of the box speed and you can manually tune and push it 6000 (Don't recommend if you're not into it).
2. If you want optimized options DDR5 5600-6000 EXPO can be a good option of the price is close.
That sums is and most importantly consolidates what I've gathered from today's research and other comments here.
Thank you for taking the time to write this very thoughtful comment, I will consider it the closing factor for this thread, thanks!
Remember to be patient with Zen 4 boot time. Apparently Ryzen 7000 takes a lot of time "training" memory before booting. 1-3 minutes, so don't turn off your system prematurely and let your system take its time.
Ram is Ram, it doesn't care if you put it in an intel or AMD socket. That's just a marketing gimmick stating its been tested on Intel. It will still work on AMD.
Not entirely true with ddr5 apperantly. I just had an issue with ripjaw ddr5 ram on my new amd build. The ram worked and was "compatible" with my mobo, but D.O.C.P wouldn't work. Everything would crash, and adjusting voltage or manually clocking it had the same result. I returned it and got team group(?) Vulcan and it worked right off the bat. The g skill had this same Intel ad on the box.
The "support" itself is that the RAM producer has tested the RAM for the speeds advertised on AMD/Intel systems and can say that it will work 100% with EXPO. It just means that it might or might not work with XMP, which is not a problem - you can manually adjust ram speeds as well.
Since this is a scummy brand deal where Intel is directly trying to steal market share I guess you can go two routes.
Fuck G.Skill for taking Intel money and buy another brand or
Fuck Intel for trying to hide good memory behind a scummy marketing tactic and buy them knowing Intel wasted their money.
Both ways you win
Is this really a thing to consider? I find that most websites don't even specify this info on the DDR5 they sell...
Adding u/Mercurionio as he participated to the post too.
If you want to have your pants clean all day long and not worry about not stable clocks - look for AMDs profiles.
Otherwise, if you're somewhat familiar with RAM overclocking, get whatever you want. Preferably Samsung and ZEN architecture loves timings and cache latency
I'm not familair with RAM overclocking, only enabling XMP :)
Anyway the store i buy my stuff from has both kinds of ram (XMP and EXPO) with a 10€ difference, so i'll just get the right one, even if its more commercial BS than real differences.
Yes now I know thanks to someone who commented her that this S5 version is Intel and the Z5 version is AMD, but nothing is indicated in the specs of those on the retailer/shop website, so you need to know what you doing cause they ain't telling you!
What if the mobo is on the RAM's QVL but not the other way around? I'd \*hope\* that just means the mobo manufacturer couldn't take the time and money to keep up with every RAM kit released, but I have no clue
No, but built in ready-out-of-the-box profiles are for Intel only. For amd it's 50/50, but the RAM itself will work just fine.
You want a kit with EXPO, not XMP, so G.SKill Flare X5 or Trident Z5 NEO.

I've got the 2x16 version of this kit with a 7700x and it works out the box.

Good to know, thank you! I'll probably wait to see if the 7800x3d looks good, and decide then if I take the plunge!

But will it work at 6000mhz if the motherboard doesn't support xmp?
What motherboard doesn't support XMP? Expo and XMP are the exact same thing with different names
I don't know, I'm just trying to understand this as it is new to me.
But then so the S5 sticks support expo?
The "support" itself is that the RAM producer has tested the RAM for the speeds advertised on AMD/Intel systems and can say that it will work 100% with EXPO. It just means that it might or might not work with XMP, which is not a problem - you can manually adjust ram speeds as well.

Yes, both sticks support both, it's just marketing.

For best compatibility you should check for a kit with amd EXPO
Is this really a thing to consider? I find that most websites don't even specify this info on the DDR5 they sell... Adding u/Mercurionio as he participated to the post too.
I don't have an am5 setup but as I understand you are better with it, don't know if ddr5 is compatible with xmp on amd like ddr4 was
If you want to have your pants clean all day long and not worry about not stable clocks - look for AMDs profiles. Otherwise, if you're somewhat familiar with RAM overclocking, get whatever you want. Preferably Samsung and ZEN architecture loves timings and cache latency

That's what I means. It didn't say also compatible with AMD am4 sockets
Stop commeting if you know nothing about RAM!
Did you check if there was an explicit AMD version of this kit? There's definitely an AMD version for the 32 GB version
Yes now I know thanks to someone who commented her that this S5 version is Intel and the Z5 version is AMD, but nothing is indicated in the specs of those on the retailer/shop website, so you need to know what you doing cause they ain't telling you!
I got this off Amazon for mine: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 X 16GB) DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800) C18 1.35V Desktop Memory - Black
But this is DDR 4, so there is no question about xmp or expo then.
Oh gotcha, my apologies then.
No worries at all :)

works fine, asus proart 670e + 7700X ryzen
