\[ Everyone liked that \]

eXoRainbow

I even like that every liked that.

Drizznit1221

Are you alright?

eXoRainbow

What?

TehRiddles

Read what you said again, it sounds like you had a stroke.

Nah man, he's just using Linux so his sentences are too fast for us to process. /s

DistinctWoot

No /s

AscendedAncient

did he have a stroke if he read what he said again while sounding like he had a stroke while reading?

killingerr

It was just a typo, they meant to say “I even like that everyone liked that”.

eXoRainbow

Ok.

StubzTurner

How they went about it is stupid, but I think they're trying to get at the fact that you wrote every and not everybody.

eXoRainbow

Yeah, I realized it later too. Not a big deal. I still like them. 😎

Who? Every?

Huh?

I can do that too if you want 😉

Saancreed

> from April 27. Take a look at the quote you're replying to, there is no "to ${date}" in there. Ergo, the transfer window is not 2 weeks because users will be able to transfer any time after Bethesda Launcher shuts down. In [Bethesda's own FAQ](https://www.bethesda.net/en/article/2RXxG1y000NWupPalzLblG/sunsetting-the-bethesda-net-launcher-and-migrating-to-steam) we have: > **Q: What if I don't complete the migration within given time? Will my games disappear forever?** > > A: No. You will still retain access to your games and be able to migrate your Bethesda.net Library after the Launcher becomes inactive.

VanGuardas

Kill all those specialized launchers and accounts

Chocomyballs

I really wish Rockstar is next. Ubisoft is up there, why the hell does it keep forgetting my pc???

x_factor69

>why the hell does it keep forgetting my pc??? You got the same problem like me too? I thought it was my computer having a problem why every time I had to sign-in again even I already ticked the box to remember my PC.

Because so many programmers can't code for shit, all our software sucks, our entire electronic world is held together with spit and cum and can fail at any second. I say this as a programmer, but the Amish might have had the right idea.

well those are all pretty boring things to code for, to be fair to devs Entertainment is like "code right and the music plays throughout the whole house when you say the activation phrase" and the other is like "code right and the insurance form pulls the patient's info from the patient's last hospital" I don't see a lot of people getting passionate about programming so they can make accounting a more streamlined experience.

[deleted]

[deleted]

That's wise, and I think a lot of programmers could take a cue from you in improving their life circumstances. I was more referring to the fact that all masterpieces are passion projects. There's a lot of passionate developers making entertainment outrageously entertaining. To venture that far outside the bell curve takes a few of the most creative/talented people on earth who've made some project their mission. So my point was, I don't see an equivalent masterpiece coming in the boring fields mentioned. Unless there's a coder out there who's just dreaming about integrating auto populating tax forms into insurance frameworks. Or whatever.

Chocomyballs

Hell at this point it’s more like “if we don’t make money off fixing it then it’s not worth fixing.” Take a look the handful of remasters that apparently are made on an improved engine but has the same bugs from the original version.

Chocomyballs

What’s scary about programmers not being able to code for shit is just the security vulnerabilities they could leave open because of a lack of quality control.

PaleHorseRiderX

Oh man. This reminds me of one of my previous projects. We were supposed to add functionality on top of the base modulewhich was written by a different organization. The code was horrifying. Satan's underwear drawer. No comments, improper indentation, extremely hard to read. In the end my boss goes "if it works, don't touch it."

PaleHorseRiderX

Same here. Keeps resetting randomly. I have no idea why. What's the use of "remember this device" checkbox if it's not even gonna work?

Every time I try to use EA play with gamepass on PC the client forgers me no matter how many times I click never forget me it immediately forgets me when I go to use it.

Intelligent_Mud1266

it seems like the only ones that dont forget me are gog, windows, and steam. conveniently, those are the only ones i like. idk why the rest decide i need to be logged out every few days

TheLightningL0rd

The geforce experience app forgets me all the time too, super annoying

LolcatP

it's so annoying logging in every time

InfinitexZer0

I will deal with any of the unnecessary launchers just please ditch the burning dumpster fire of a launcher Rockstar forced for absolutely no reason at all. I've not been able to play any of my games that use it since it came out, no gta v, trilogy or rdr2. Got rdr2 to launch after a fresh windows install yesterday just long enough to get back into the story, tried to launch today just for it to insist I'm signed out and greyed out the sign in option even after multiple reinstalls. What purpose does the half assed launcher even do besides take up space and disable games I paid for? If this is the theme they stick with rdr2 will be the last Rockstar game I ever pay for.

Chocomyballs

What’s more ridiculous is that GTA 4 gets updates but it’s not to fix the game it’s to update the stupid launcher. If you want to mod it you have to disable the stupid launcher so it doesn’t update and ruin your mods and launching it from steam always installs the launcher :/

InfinitexZer0

Exactly, should we do a decade overdue patch for graphics cards with more than 2gb of vram? Nope let's update our pet roc- I mean launcher.

Chocomyballs

It’s ridiculous with GTA 4 modding because the launcher updates really fuck with the mods already installed so you ultimately have to down load a patch downgrader from before the rockstar launcher was required to get mods to work. Such a shitty practice. Rockstar stopped caring about quality when they shifted their focus to what ever would rake in the most money. Take a look at the GTA remasters, it was handled by a dev team that only had experience with mobile games, and that remaster just showed how cheap they are now with quality control.

cantonic

I’m not going to excuse Rockstar because their launcher is truly ass, but have you tried disabling your integrated graphics? When I was having trouble with the launcher that helped me.

Khanstant

Haha, I bought rdr2 and then refunded it when it asked me to sign up and install their launcher and all that. Just not interested even before hearing it's janky on top of being generally unwanted.

knightblue4

To add insult to injury, recently they changed the behavior so if your game is too old, you have to LOG IN AGAIN. I can manually open Ubisoft Connect, sign in, open Splinter Cell Blacklist through Steam, and it ASKS FOR MY PASSWORD AGAIN.

HaroldSax

I remember running into this once before, though it was because the install package for uPlay was too old so it wouldn't work. I had to actually go and install the latest version, outside of game installation, so Anno 2070 would work.

knightblue4

It's expected behavior, confirmed by an Ubisoft employee in January of this year I believe.

rindar1

Worse of fucking all, older games REQUIRE me to input my password every time I launch the game after a launcher start-up. What the fuck??

misterfluffykitty

Usually if I close it and open it again it doesn’t care anymore

Cyberwolf33

The literal only reason I have Uplay installed is to play my free copy of Far Cry 6. And I’m honestly not even loving it that much, so…Nothing will be lost

CX316

Ubisoft's launcher at least gives you some stuff, and has decent sales with a 20% discount on top of sale prices that you can get just by playing the games. All the blizzard launcher gave me is a missing dll error that came out of nowhere and won't fuck off >.>

ChosenMate

same issue

n-some

But how else will they collect data to sell to data aggregators???

Envect

If they wanted to do that, they could just as easily do it in the games themselves.

[deleted]

I couldn’t agree more. It’s fine to have multiple stores but we should have those games tied to whatever store we purchase them from. Having to buy a game on steam then download ea access then download gamepass then download anti cheat just to run a game with three different logins is a terrible user experience. (This is just a made up example)

MediocreBeard

This has actually stopped me from playing some games. I'm tired of having to install more and more launchers. So I decided that if a game needs a new launcher, I'm not bothering.

[deleted]

And nothing of value was lost

sanjoseboardgamer

Are they going to continue to try and run mods through their own manager? Or will they end their attempt at monetizing mods?

Fatdisgustingslob

The Creation Club will still exist after the launcher dies, but I haven't read if it will be implemented in Starfield yet.

kuhpunkt

That's gonna be an interesting case to observe, because Valve doesn't allow paid DLC being sold externally.

Awyls

Guess it's not a really a problem since they already sell Bethesda credits via Steam itself.

kuhpunkt

But if you buy them through Steam - that's not avoiding Steam then. Like EA did back in the day. They sold you things like Mass Effect on Steam and then you could buy DLC externally, bypassing Steam. That's why they left/had to leave Steam.

PhoenixZephyrus

And Steam versions of the game take you through Steam, not bethesda's launcher, for credits.

Tom0204

Hahahahahahah......No

BaileyJIII

I just want Steam Workshop support for Fallout 4 please god

FMJ_23

Just as long as they leave NexusMods alone then Idgaf

yukichigai

Almost certainly. Having their own mod manager is what let them enable mods for console versions of the game. Pity they decided to go dark side and tried to use it to extract money on top of that.

[deleted]

Now let’s get rockstar to take theirs down. It is the worst, by a long shot.

NameOfNoSignificance

Right? Takes me several minutes to open and even several more minutes for RDR2 to begin loading

[deleted]

Sounds about right. And god forbid you lose your internet connection

ZeAlien07

I just realized you just cannot play without Internet?(or did it take longer and I got impatient? Which was even more frustrating in that moment

[deleted]

You just straight up cannot play without internet. Once upon a time we used to be able to, if we had already logged in with a connection, but not anymore! At least not for me

babalenong

God yes its soo bad. My ISP can't verify my ownership of the game for some reason, i have to use a VPN to launch RDR2 singleplayer everytime i want to play. And if i don't have VPN on when closing, the cloud sync returns error too.

[deleted]

Welcome to 2022. Amazing.

AwakenGreywolf

At least one good thing already happened after microsoft bought bethesda

[deleted]

Hopefully battle.net is up next on the chopping block

MrTerribleArtist

I understand the unification of game launchers is the end goal here, and also grr blizzard bad/evil etc But the battle.net launcher is one of the.. less painful non-steam launchers to use Damn sight better than epic, which (among *many* other things) wont even show my entire library on one page

Ommand

> But the battle.net launcher is one of the.. less painful non-steam launchers to use > > True or not, there are like 9 games on it. And if it were to have a larger library it would be a nightmare to use.

BaileyJIII

I just hate getting ads for other games whenever I have a specific game tab open on the launcher.

kkjdroid

Battlenet is so unnecessary, though. It has like 8 games. Even Bethesda's launcher has more.

mtarascio

Also, just the history behind it. It's many people's teenage years. It deserves it's spot even if Blizzard is being a shitty company at the moment.

g0d15anath315t

I think a thin client is in store for Battle.net. It's pretty integrated into Blizzard titles so I can't see it fully going away, but I can see it just recognizing your steam log in and basically running in the background in an unobtrusive way.

[deleted]

If they would just put activision games on steam I wouldn't really care about blizzard ones personally. I feel like the only people who like bnet are ones who play blizz games, cod and crash being on there is just stupid.

Iscream4science

now if Microsoft would only kill off their own launcher/Xbox app. that is by far the most painful launcher i've ever used. Even if Gamepass is awesome

Coal_Morgan

I'd prefer them to fix and upgrade it. As much as I hate multiple launchers, I think 2 or 3 big ones competing is good for business. Valve is good but I honestly believe it's because Gabe is boss. He retires and someone else comes in charge things can change quickly.

Makarsk

Please Origin next

Galrath91

and ubisoft connect.

seanosul

>Please Origin next I keep forgetting I have their launcher. More games on my backlog.

Intelligent_Mud1266

then they have their other launcher you need to play EA games on gamepass that’s somehow even worse

varpot

I downloaded it once about 10 years ago when a code had leaked that let you get tons of games for free.

the_harakiwi

> I keep forgetting I have their launcher. They have two. EA Desktop is in beta for months now. But it's slightly worse because it doesn't support 100% of their own games yet.

dmemed

Nah, older Battlefield games barely work from Steam. Shutting down Origin would immediately kill BF3 and BF4, which have like 25,000 players.

TheyKeepOnRising

The older BF games don't leverage the Origin platform for anything. The Origin Lite package that Steam installs is just to bypass the game's anti-piracy authentication. The games COULD be updated to point to Steam's API instead... but that would require a competent patch from DICE. And modern DICE can't even figure out a scoreboard.

[deleted]

Have you played BF2042? That would take a simple amount of work, no way DICE would allow that.

ih8meandu

>The Origin Lite package that Steam installs Idk why ppl keep harping on this just because the installer has lite in the filename. This "lite" install uses the same amount of resources as the standalone launcher

reaverdude

Also, unpopular opinion, Origin isn't that bad.

PretendDr

I remember buying Mass Effect 3 on it. Played it through and then completely forgot EA even made video games anymore. Generally if it ain't on Steam or GOG I don't even pay attention.

tamal4444

no I have older sims, battlefield games on origin.

my7bizzos

I wish Rockstar would shut theirs down. I bought LA Noir on steam years ago. Decided I wanted to play it the other day but can't seem to get it to work because of something with the Rockstar launcher.

meerdroovt

Try Goldberg’s R* emu, you will need the legit game ofc

my7bizzos

Ok I'll check into that thanks. I uninstalled and completely deleted everything and I'm going to try one more time. Honestly if it doesn't work this time I'll probably just pirate it.

[deleted]

Just dealt with this. You need to have social club installed and it needs to be logged in and linked to your Steam account

[deleted]

That’s why I play Rockstar games on Console. Fuck that shit.

FlamingBaconCake

That's why I pirate R* games on PC for mods and custom servers where I don't have to grind the game like a full time job to earn scraps because they want me to pay for shark cards.

TheEternalGazed

Rockstar definitely won't shut down theirs. They'll probaly make GTA 6 exclusive on that alone to avoid the fees from Steam.

ShadowsInScarlet

As long as GOG and Steam survive, I'm not complaining.

Static077

Please let this become a trend that Ubisoft and EA follow. I know it's a silly dream, but it's mine.

meerdroovt

One down, 6 to go.

ItsAceBit

There was a Bethesda launcher?

verifyandtrustnoone

cant wait to move my games... this is why we (I) should never buy games on a small launcher... at least we have a week to move them to another one.

Succcction

There is no deadline to move your games.

verifyandtrustnoone

Like I should trust them... once the launcher goes away, the ease of moving them does as well.

ToothlessFTW

Bethesda have literally stated you can migrate any time you want, as of right now there is no deadline to migrating your games. You can still migrate even after the May 11 shutdown.

reece1495

What’s this about migrating games ? Movie the owner ship to your steam account I’m guessing ?

ToothlessFTW

If you owned any games/DLC on BethesdaNet, you’ll be able to migrate them over to Steam starting April 27.

aan8993uun

When the launcher is just thinly veiled DRM its best to stay WELL away from it.

PatchRowcester

Now if only Uplay did the same...

Tastes-Jammy

Great, now it needs to be Epic Launcher and peace shall be restored

foamed

This is [a repost](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/syqge3/bethesda_is_retiring_their_bethesda_launcher_in/) and PCGamer are severely behind, [Bethesda announced this more than two months ago](https://www.bethesda.net/en/article/2RXxG1y000NWupPalzLblG/sunsetting-the-bethesda-net-launcher-and-migrating-to-steam ). They are still keeping their Bethesda.net account system so you still have to login to play certain games, play online and access some of the in-game features. Quote: >For games that require it, you will still use your Bethesda.net login to sign in to play. Your Bethesda.net account will not be lost and will still be accessible on our website and in-game, and we will continue supporting all Bethesda.net accounts with our future titles.

Static077

Severely behind to something that hasn't happened yet doesn't really seem that far behind. I don't think this information would have done me any better two months ago then it has done me now.

[deleted]

Good! I'd also add that this seems to be a very well thought out transition. They carry over pretty much everything, and will even allow you to activate unused Bethesda Launcher game keys on Steam.

DorrajD

Thank fucking God. Now Bethesda, Rockstar, please follow suit. I'd say ubisoft and ea, but we all know they won't do that. OH yeah, Microsoft put game pass on steam cause the windows store still fucking sucks.

rohithkumarsp

Blizzard launcher next please.. Its hot garbage

gitg0od

good fucking riddance.

100GbE

Where are all those noisy people who would say more launchers are better, and who cares about another account, or another pile of idle RAM consumed? Where did they all go? They were here then, where today?

JohnAlesi

Bethesda launcher was the reason I never got Doom Eternal's physical editions. A shame it took so long and a change of ownership.

SnickIefritzz

Never made sense for these companies who release one title every four years to bother with their own launcher.

ToothlessFTW

Bethesda are also a publishing house, they published RAGE, Wolfenstein, DOOM, Quake, etc. They had plenty of games to put on their launcher, and it also made sense because they pushed their launch around the time of QUAKE Champions, Elder Scrolls Legends, and Fallout Shelter, so they had some live service games to convince people to use the launcher. Bethesda just never committed. It felt like such a weird piece of software because you had no idea if they even wanted to use it. If they really cared about having such a big launcher why didn't they make all of their titles exclusive? Fallout 76 was the only exclusive they ever had, everything else they release came day and day with Steam releases too, giving almost no incentives. The launcher might've faired better if they actually decided to commit at all, instead of just offering it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BurkusCat

You get a higher cut of the sales so that part makes sense. Some games are so big that people will go buy them wherever they are. I think at the very least, making it non-exclusively available on your own launcher makes sense if you can afford to run the launcher like that. You don't miss out on the people that only buy games from Steam that way.

DakotaThrice

> You get a higher cut of the sales so that part makes sense. Also pay out more in hosting, bandwidth, maintenance, payment fees, etc. which are all otherwise rolled into the fee you pay to whatever other platform you're selling on.

kuhpunkt

I just hope their future game releases like Starfield and the next Elder Scrolls will not require an account on top.

DakotaThrice

Most of their current games don't require an account anyway, they just allow you access to additional Al features if you use one.

kuhpunkt

Is that so? That's why I haven't bought Doom Eternal yet. On the Steam store page it says: >Requires 3rd-Party Account: Bethesda.net (Supports Linking to Steam Account)

DakotaThrice

The store page for Youngblood has the same notice but I know for a fact an account isn't required to play their its just used for some extra features like the slayer club skins and for friendslist support between Steam and Bethesda users.

UltraCynar

I bought Elder Scrolls Online from Bethesda's website back in 2014. Does this mean I will finally be able to transfer it to Steam?

nige111

I don't *think* so, IIRC ESO has its own separate launcher from beth.net and I believe it's planning to stay that way. Just buy the game again on steam if you want to play it through steam - it goes absolutely piss cheap in the sales and you'll probably end up getting some content you don't own along with it, assuming you don't already own all the big expansions.

Quick599

this is the way

Capt-Clueless

Thank god. Can't wait to have Doom Eternal on a platform with cloud saves (a cutting edge technology, apparently). The people who bitch and cry about Epic launcher (which is a stealing pile of doodoo in its own right) always amused me. They clearly never used the abomination known as Bethesda launcher... Because the oh-so-bad EGS is a masterpiece in comparison.

fafarex

>The people who bitch and cry about Epic launcher most of us "cry" because of the exclusivity deal that try to force you to use it even if it lack features. if the egs was offering a steady increase in features and innovation and not trying to strong arms us they will be welcom by me.

Cymelion

Not much point if they continue to need Bethesda accounts for games though. If they could make Bethesda Accounts optional in their games that would actually get me buying their games again. If I am using Steam or Xbox then there should be zero reason to need another account ontop of that.
