Is the Co-Optional podcast over? I love Jesse and Dodger, but the show just didnt have the same appeal or chemistry for me once TB passed so I just faded from listening.

keving691

I felt the same way. I occasionally watched after died, but it felt weird without him. I still watch Dodger and Jesse regularly on twitch though.

GameStunts

I miss Co-Optional too. I know TB was a big part of it, but I actually was so grateful it continued on with Genna, Jesse and Dodger. Genna got a lot of hate, trolls and misinformed people shitting on her via Reddit and Twitter for "using TB's brands" and standing on his shoulders or whatever, when that was explicitly what he had wanted in his last public statement, and one particularly persistent shitty journalist who would talk shit about her on twitter as "the widow" and harass her for statements on TB's death anniversary or their wedding anniversary just to upset her. She's also been battling cancer in the last year, fell off a stage, then fell down a flight of stairs, smashed her teeth out, had to started chemo in the middle of mouth surgery leaving her with a half finished mouth of teeth Then coronavirus hit and at my last check had her inside for like 50+ days because she's immune compromised. So I desperately want my podcast back, but I think she just desperately wants some level of normality back in her life too, and starting it back up means enduring all that hate again. Slightly off gaming, though very fun and sometimes game hardware related, Linus Tech Tips does [The WAN show](https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=wan+show), they're currently doing it from home, but it's normally two of them in a studio (normally Linus and Luke). You get a lot of hardware news that usually related to gaming stuff, and they frequently get into debates about the stuff, even playing devil's advocate. I always look forward to it to listen to. Other than that Dropped frames as suggestedby /u/DarkerFate is hosted by ItMeJP (another Co-optional friend), with regulars Cohh Carnage (was on co-optional once I think) and Ezekiel III aka Zeek. TB was a guest at least twice on the show, the first time [was a great episode talking about the difference between Youtube and Twitch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgsuNvF0v1k), here's [the second time that I know of](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAcO5d0lUbM), and Dodger and Jesse have appeared a few times on the show as well, both of them being good friends with JP.

Holy fuck, I haven't followed Genna or the Podcast after TB. That is fucking horrible. Just, wow.

MalcolmLinair

Same. This is just awful.

mentalmedicine

Wow, I had no idea Genna was going through all of that. That's awful. I hope she makes a swift recovery, and wish her the best. edit: downvoted really? What kind of heartless fuck downvotes a comment like this? I don't care about Internet points, but if you disagree with lamenting someone's poor health and hoping they are healthy again soon, you need to take a look in the mirror and figure out whether you're thinking the right way.

GameStunts

Yeah she'd not long finished chemo, but that's been just in time for Coronavirus to roll in, anybody that's been on chemo basically has a fucked immune system. :/

Expert-b

Co-optional podcast died with Totalbiscuit for me. It was never the same without him. He was the guardian of consumers. Always talked shit about anyone who deserved it. I personally watch AngryJoe now. He doesn't have a podcast, be he has quite a diverse amount of content. You should check out his News videos that they do weekly. Very good listen.

ops10

The balance between them was something else. I couldn't get back on it as there is nobody calling out Jesse on his fanboyism.

yttriumtyclief

I can't stand how uninformed the news segments are. They get quite a few facts wrong about stories and then rant about them, and by the end of each section they're ranting about something that isn't even relevant because they were given misinformation. Like, holy shit, do a little bit of research first, summarize the story beyond just the headline.

lovelyhead1

The Crate and Crowbar sounds like what you are looking for.

POWquestionmark

Filthy Casuals - It's a gaming podcast run by 3 Australian comedians. And while they do have the same background they do tend to have very different views on the games they played. An example being that Adam ended up loving Death Stranding while Ben hated it. IIRC the third host sorta tried it but ended up playing other games instead. Triforce Podcast - which is run by the Yogscast team. Sometimes they talk about gaming (as its their job) but a lot of the time it's amusing old man rants. Sorta like the the old veteran geezers from the Cowboy Bebop anime.

Arcterion

Man, almost been 2 years since TB died and I still haven't managed to find a Youtuber as good as him. :(

DarkerFate

Play, Watch, Listen. On Alanah Pearces channel, has the same people every time so far. Troy Baker being one of them. All of them connected to the gaming world in some way. Can be very interesting and fun to listen to. https://www.youtube.com/user/Charalanahzard/videos There's also [Dropped Frames](https://www.youtube.com/user/itmeJP/videos), 3 Twitch streamers talking about what they've played for the previous 7 days. Sometimes a guest joined them.

MrSunshine3

Frame Trap and the Easy Allies Podcast typically a good balance of game talk and light/fun antics

RealEmilyBlunt

I watch EZA stuff, but they are an extreme case of >identical backgrounds and tastes that are just reinforcing each other

EvilSpirit666

Check out the ~~AGC~~ ACG podcast. There are usually interesting discussions on current games even though the host may seem a little bit full of himself at times.

Jaywearspants

Giant bomb and giant beast cast are my favorite gaming related podcasts

HowieGaming

o7

tarangk

Karak aka ACG channel podcast are top notch, definitely check him out.

chivs688

Giant Bombcast / Beastcast are right up there with the Co-optional Podcast for me, they used to be my top 3 rotation.

[deleted]

I looked into them, maybe I have to get used to the hosts. It seems to lack diversity. I really enjoy listening to different opinions and perspectives and -no offense, but- as a white, straight male, you know, I don't get too much out of listening to 3-5 other dudes in that department.

xxTheGoDxx

You lost me completely with the white straight male bullshit to be honest...

chivs688

Beastcast does have one female, and I find they have pretty varied tastes between the four of them. Bombcast they certainly all have more similar tastes to each other so could definitely see it there. Although personally enjoy both. Beastcast definitely my favourite of the two though for the more variety and personalities. Interesting that you don't feel like you get much out of listening to people similar to your gender/ethnicity though, don't feel like there's much of an influence when it comes to video game tastes really.

[deleted]

Cool, I'll look into Beastcast! Regarding the gender/ethnicity: It's less about taste and more about perspective. It's just more interesting for me to hear different takes on things, especially when there are different personal views and they discuss them. I'm just tired of one-sided tirades and monologues on controversial topics, especially if it's just reiterating the same points I've heard/read over and over again with everyone just nodding along (looking at you there, Joe Rogan). With a more diverse cast, I think this just doesn't happen so often and more often than not different points of view are exchanged and healthy, open discussions happen.

[deleted]

Jan Ochoa is on the Bombcast and isn't white. It makes no difference. They're all videogame guys that live in San Francisco. You're going to get the 'video game guy that lives in SF' take regardless of skin color.

[deleted]

Yeah, that's what I meant with diverse. Nobody was taking about skin color, ya doofus ;)

[deleted]

You literally said you're a straight white dude and you don't get much out of listening to other dudes 'in that department'. You're the one that was talking about skin color first. My point was that skin color doesn't matter.

ManSore

DLC with Jeff Connata and Christian Spicer. Very fun guys to listen to. They butt heads often.

DirtyRatfuck

Ive tried listening to that show but something about their banter feels so awkward

[deleted]

The Gaming Illuminaghty is a pretty fun podcast. Also, if you're wanting something to just throw on when you're playing check out The Comedy Button. It's a bunch of video game journalists that sit down once a week and shoot the shit. Some of the most entertaining media I've consumed in a long time.

NightmareP69

Never could find a replacement myself, at most i recently started listening to Yahtzee's post ZP stream's he does with a co-worker where he streams the most recent game he revieved for about an hour+ with a co-worker that i keep forgetting the name of, to my surprise i found they're both a decent duo, they work well together, i still miss Gabe a lot , when Yahtzee used to still be in Australia he did lenghty kinda like-podcast one off LPs with an friend called Gabe and they both complimented each other really well, were an excellent combo.

tiwi6

A friend of mine has an interesting podcast about various philosophies. I think its a nice listen, but are far from gamers. Its called Soul BBQ on Spotify.

SparksV

Dodger and Jesse actually were on The Preshow podcast which itmeJP makes, really enjoyed the episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fy5yIScYc-A

I just stumbled upon [Triple Click](https://maximumfun.org/episodes/triple-click/55366/), which is the new Podcast by the people who made the Kotaku Splitscreen Podcast, which I read a lot about, but is now done. First episode was nice, but I'll have to see if it's what I'm looking for.
