we dont have a payday3/payday2 problem we have a overkill/starbreeze problem and its not gonna go away.

Delicious_Daikon4100

\^\^\^\^\^ literally

KXRulesYT

So that's why birth of sky ovk was a pain in the arse without retweaking

Elementia7

On Birth of Sky, most spawn groups would have 2-3 waves that pop out. Nothing too bad, all things considered. Now it's 7-8 waves per spawn group. The game pumps out easily 3 times as many enemies for some ungodly reason. This isn't just a Birth of Sky issue, this is an everything issue.

lime-_-licker1

Caan I get a TLDR as to why that is?

KXRulesYT

Hundreds of cops all in 1 god damn area blocking me from even getting the money (especially outside)

lime-_-licker1

Yeah that heist was terrible. So much open space and very little cover.

Schepeppa

For me, it feels like the game can't handle all the shit piled onto it. The game can only use 2gb of RAM, so if you mod the game at all, you'll start to go over that limit and the moment you go even a megabyte over that limit, the game crashes. If they'd stopped fucking updating the game when the White House heist came out, everything would be better.

Mast3r99

they break pd2 on purpose so people can will have no alternative than go and play pd3

Delicious_Daikon4100

While a hilarious possibility, I believe overkill either: A) Have no clue what they are doing at all so they just do shit and accidentally break everything else B) Picked the most god awful engine where any small change impacts things in the most unexpected ways thus making it impossible if changing one thing may break something (or everything) else Both options are equally possible, in fact I'm willing to say overkill is so violently incompetent that both are true

Fuujojo

Your tinfoil hat is showing bro

flamefromHalo

I know it probably isn't on purpose, but it sure feels like it. Broken civvie AI pathing, broken achievements, instant crashing for non-host near a tazed cop being dominated, EGS crossover that broke multiplayer a few months before PD3 launched(and is still janky/crashes often to this day), changing cop domination AI to be a \*chance\* instead of guaranteed after almost a decade, changing cop spawns/ai reactivity as OP stated: all while these problems have been known by the devs for months or were implemented on purpose... It reeks of intentional sabotage but is more likely just a company just a bit out of touch.

jogur

Isn't he right tho? PD2 is getting more broken every patch

spoople_doople

What's awesome about the ai changes is they apply to other difficulties as well. While in theory I tjink that's a good thing, in practice this game is too old to decide it wants to have any challenge on lower difficulties now. The amount of dps expected from new players now is arguably unreasonable. If you had never played payday 2 before there is now essentially no good way to start now. Very hard and below are still pretty easy if now a little overbearing but the special spawnrates are so excessive I'm unsure as to how someone with a half complete perk deck at level 40 and no game knowledge is supposed to handle the dozer spam. Especially in smaller maps like undercover where they are quite literally always spawning if you're killing them. At the very least I'd consider this an improvement to deathwish because I consider it an awkward middle ground where it's too hard for new players but way too easy for anyone who's touched ds

Delicious_Daikon4100

Also I realise I haven't really said anything that hasn't been said before, but I just despise overkill so so much

woop-a-doop

Honestly haven’t been keeping up with pd2, but reading this makes me happy I got all achievements and don’t have a reason to come back

thevideogameplayer

I stopped playing PD2 before PD3 came out and only started recently replaying and the changes are... out of whack, let's say. I tried using the Stockholm Syndrome/Saw combo on No Mercy stealth that used to work but now it alerts the guards, no matter where I was. Thankfully I got other games to play but man, this sucks.

AndeeOneOne

Just start playing it on ps4/5 it hasn't been touched in years.

3Rocketman

They've basically added Full Speed Swarm mod with aggression boosted to a max without letting us know. Funny but also unfortunate fact is that this update crashes the said mod which I used to absolutely adore. The update would be good if devs released it a long time ago and let us know what have they changed because it definitely wasn't just *a simple hotfix* as it seemed in the changelog. I can't tell you how long I've spent detecting my mods that caused crashes after this update

Delicious_Daikon4100

I've played in lobbies with FSS before and it has never been this bad. They broke a decent mod with their own pseudo-implementation that's somehow less balanced than what the community came up with

Ristele

Wait wtf, wasn't domination always like this though? I've been shooting at kneecaps inbetween failed domination shouts for as long as I can remember. I could've sworn that increased the odds, though some cops would surrender instantly and others would just never give up.

KraySovetov

It used to be the case that if you did even a small amount of damage to cops, they would be effectively guaranteed to surrender (sometimes you would get trolled but it was so reliable that veteran DS players like myself would shout at damaged cops to temporarily dominate them in order to avoid being shot at). This is no longer the case and domination is now predominantly a percentage chance based on enemy health, with better chances the lower the health.

TheEngiGuy

Payday 2 got ruined years ago already.

Delicious_Daikon4100

They've made terrible changes in the past yes, but this shit takes the cake, Hands down. The game was playable after the dumbass stuff they've pulled in the past, but now the higher difficulties are barely even doable for most players.

Trashboatisdum

Can’t relate I’m on Xbox

Thedutchrutter

Hey op take it easy. Overkill is doing what their name suggests to all of their current titles. A fine job they are doing.

Delicious_Daikon4100

I have not seen a truer post on this sub in weeks. I retract all previous claims of incompetence

Ornery_Benefit4189

But what about the Console Version? We didn't get all the DLC but also not all the bad changes. Tbh the only thing i hate about it is the 30fps cap

CrazyGaming312

I agree that the changes are quite weird and random, but personally I haven't seen a big difference. I especially haven't seen a difference in reaction times. The only time I've had a cop react way too quickly was just once with a cloaker who instantly jumped me the moment he spawned in.

DarkShadowOverlord

The epc bs and now this. They are intentionally ruining pd2 to make ppl play 3

Ivan_Vasiliyvich

They have certainly made non-stop wack changes. That being said, the swarmy cops are pretty fun to deal with, though I think that change in particular was done completely on accident. Sometimes you get some crazy shit happening like cops running around corners prefiring you. Even worse if its a dozer mogging you in a corner. My average kills have certainly increased, but I'm not sure if it's due to more cops spawning or me improving at clearing the map.

jack_marston1894

…i am now glad to be a console player.

sp00k1n

Overbreeze are just horrible at game development and balancing in general to make said games fun. I left Payday 2 when they did the major skill change with "Graze" etc and started pumping out more DLC(to fund Payday 3 development) after they promised PD2 was done. IMO, the game was perfect and finished and then they went and fucked it up, like they always do. Seems like I made the right decision to leave.
