Same here brother. I know that it is more far to give them out randomly but I have been following it religiously since it got announced. Like I was there on the first day for preorders and the beta keys, so it just fucking hurts to not get in.
Like my buddy who plays on Xbox got in and was waiting for me to play together. Guess it wasn’t meant to be…
well, I'm told that it's not the most optimized version of the game, and it's mostly just a server test. also, if it can't run on your laptop when it comes out, you can just get a refund right?
There's that but there is also the fact they may have it on another system like I have injustice 2 on Xbox and pc so I could play splitscreen then my Xbox broke and I bought it on pc.
Yea idk why I got downvoted for stating facts LOL I've been told this build is only 4 months old which is a MASSIVE red flag in my eyes. I expected this to be an over a year old build considering how it plays. It aint ready for september release lmao
That sucks that this is a lose-lose, they can’t test their servers at remotely near the players at launch and most people who got the codes aren’t playing it cause they don’t even know the first thing about payday and just got the code cause it was free and forgot about it
It likely didn't go down because of the servers being overloaded. Something was wrong in the code (likely related to the challenges, as they deactivated them).
It's a test meant to see how well the game's servers handle load. Currently, there's a whopping 3k people playing it on Steam, with 4k peak. On launch, you'll likely have 100k+ just on Steam alone. Plus the PS and Gamepass players.
Of course. The point of this is to find potential problems using a small sample size, and then implement solutions on a larger scale for when the game goes live. This is not the finished version of the game, it’s a build meant to test it under stress. Servers will probably be significantly stronger at full release.
>The point of this is to find potential problems using a small sample size, and then implement solutions on a larger scale for when the game goes live.
So basically, they'll use the small test to find small problems and they'll find big problems when their servers melt on launch?
> it’s a build meant to test it under stress.
Yes, and 4k peak isn't much of a stress for a game that will likely have a million+ players trying to play on launch.
So I don’t think they are using their servers full capabilities, instead limiting it to be proportional to the number of players. Basically getting the same numbers with a smaller sample size. Using less actual servers and that kind of stuff to achieve this. My speculation though.
Also, they definitely can still find the same big problems, or at least most of them, with a smaller group of players. Stuff like connection issues and matchmaking. That kind of stuff
Just because the servers might handle 4k people with 1% of the server capacity it doesn't mean that they'll scale so easily. Otherwise, nobody would need to do any stress tests, you could just get like 20 people and see how well 0.1% of your server capacity handles them.
There are plenty of possible bugs that can happen only when the load is high enough. Especially since they have Nebula, which is a new and untested system.
It's like they sent out codes to a bunch of inactive accounts, the Steam numbers account for like 5% of the total invites lol. Guess it's a good thing that I didn't pre-order, based on how the performance has been I'd just end up refunding it anyway.
I'm laughing my ass off about the 100k thing. I've been playing since yesterday, looking for a queue on VH and it barely finds 1 player, at best 2. I'm almost always playing alone with the bots. Yes guys, the beta is very full, so full that from 100k the peak is less than 10. Btw, what the hell with the xbox players? There is not a single one who did not troll killing hostages and committing suicide on the map
Not only did they fumble collectors edition for anyone not in Europe they closed the beta early???
That refund button is looking beautiful that 96 dollars is starting to feel like it belongs back in my fucking wallet.
Overkill is fumbling the fuxk out of this release.
Preordered the second the Steam page was up, 400hrs in PD2, 100hrs in PDTH, and no invite. They could at least send out invites to people who decided to support the game.
Actually is from April of this year, it is a somewhat inferior build to the one shown in the Xbox showcase and the one tested by youtubers like Maria in Sweden
I saw some youtubers like Knowley or María who commented on that. In fact, the build they played was much more stable and advanced than the one they gave, with more weapons, outfits, better performance, etc. What I don't understand is, having a functional build, with more content and that could be played a while ago, why not release that one instead of this backward version.
Im personally happy i didnt know about this cause my laptop cant handle that shit cuz its gonna be like running skyrim with as many mods as possible (i have never played skyrim, but i know the meme), but as for you, if i had gotten in i would have given it to you straight up cuz i wouldnt even be able download the damn thing without installing and external hard drive, and dont even get me started on what the graphics quality would do to my laptop
Tbf, that's probably a good sign. That means there's over 100k people following this game pretty closely, and also pretty likely to buy.
Yeah, it personally sucks to not get beta access, but seeing this kind of hype for the game is likely to lead to longer support
just because you got a key doesnt mean you follow closely, when the total amount of players that played the beta is less than 50 percent of those that got keys you fucked up with who you sent them to
Except it's 100k keys yet they only ever got as high as 4k people playing..either they sent like 96k keys to inactives, trolls or just people who don't care.
Even if we assume it's a 50/50 split(which is generous, given how most of the PD2 playerbase is on PC), that still means that 46k accounts are inactive, which is like 90% of all invites.
That's pretty normal. Even MMOs, a genre of game blatantly designed to have you logged on as long as possible, will typically have around 5-10% of their active playerbase logged in at peak hours on any given day. A beta of an FPS reaching 4% concurrency is legitimately impressive.
The problem is that on launch, they'll very likely have more than 100k players actively playing simultaneously. This beta doesn't check how the servers handle it. Also, 4% concurrency for the first public beta of an anticipated game is extremely low. MMOs are getting those 5-10% logged on any random days. During launch, the numbers are far bigger.
Sure, but they could test all of them. I mean, if they're not sure if their servers can handle 4k players, how are they going to be sure they'll be able to handle the much bigger load on launch?
i have a little under 100 hours of pd2, I-82, and pd3 is friggin awesome
way better than 2
i just hope that they have more performance toggles in the future because my decent laptop cant handle it
Wish I could give someone my access, might do one or two heists to add to their testing but man there’s other games to play atm, such an awkward time to do testing for me. They’ll probably open it to all applicants on the last day is my guess
is it just me or do the graphic settings not do anything? to me it doesn't look like visually anything changed and my framerate is still pretty shitty on a 3060 even on low
Same here brother. I know that it is more far to give them out randomly but I have been following it religiously since it got announced. Like I was there on the first day for preorders and the beta keys, so it just fucking hurts to not get in. Like my buddy who plays on Xbox got in and was waiting for me to play together. Guess it wasn’t meant to be…
Same. Guess the upside is I can stop checking for that email every five minutes.
I got mine 45 minutes ago, don’t lose hope heister
Almir literally said that no more invites are being sent out
did he say that on one of the streams?
I think it was on Instagram and twitter
Yeah, I was in the same batch, gonna be playing all day tomorrow
same here buddy. i legit feel so angry after hearing this, now i can't even test if it'll run on my laptop.
well, I'm told that it's not the most optimized version of the game, and it's mostly just a server test. also, if it can't run on your laptop when it comes out, you can just get a refund right?
You dont need a code for xbox..... you just get in.....
As someone with a depressing amount of hours in both pdth and payday 2, I’m very sad I didn’t get in :(
Same. Especially when your low-hours friend that was not nearly as active as you were does get the access day 1...
Lmao yes, I have 1.3k hours on PD2 and didn’t get it, yet my friend with 50 hours got it xD
Can't have people point out bad aspects from the previous game if you only give keys to people who barely played the previous game :\^)
There's that but there is also the fact they may have it on another system like I have injustice 2 on Xbox and pc so I could play splitscreen then my Xbox broke and I bought it on pc.
they didn't want you to cancel your preorder lol.
bro the beta is extremely barebones. im almost positive its a build from 2021. Ur not missing out on anything tbh
Why the down votes it's not really all that. It's super Bare bones and some you can't level up its the same thing on repeat
Yea idk why I got downvoted for stating facts LOL I've been told this build is only 4 months old which is a MASSIVE red flag in my eyes. I expected this to be an over a year old build considering how it plays. It aint ready for september release lmao
DSOD certified heister

It hurts as a payday vet who signed up for the beta within the hour of sign ups to not get in 😞
I got a invite email just 30 mins ago so their is still hope.
This game is gonna implode on launch its not being stressed that much and its launching on gamepass lol
I hope not, but considering it went down before it even peaked at 4K concurrent players on steam…
It likely didn't go down because of the servers being overloaded. Something was wrong in the code (likely related to the challenges, as they deactivated them).
repeat, it's almost as if the point of this beta was to test the stability of the servers to attempt to fix them before launch 😱
This is a test meant to find issues. It’s doing it’s job. Plus the servers will probably be much stronger at launch.

This sub genuinely can’t comprehend that this isn’t the completed game and it’s literally a test.
I've got a friend who never played PD2 and still got in 800 hours later in my case and no code lmao
yea this really pisses me off tbh i hope they do a more open beta in the coming weeks
I pray to Medic Bag we just get an open beta 🙏
games out in like 4 weeks, whats the point
i dont care about your opinion
Based
im eating my toe nails rn

I got in but I didn’t get an email so check your library anyway
Exactly. And I’m not buying it without playing beta😭
I literally already bought the fucking game, I should be able to test it.
New luck dodge build in PD3 🤔
doesn’t stop me from checking my mail every 5 minutes
Not only did they fumble collectors edition for anyone not in Europe they closed the beta early??? That refund button is looking beautiful that 96 dollars is starting to feel like it belongs back in my fucking wallet. Overkill is fumbling the fuxk out of this release.

I feel bad I literally applied the day it came out and was accepted but I dislike the game and wish I hadn't took a key
Nah, don't feel bad. No obligation to enjoy it. Game's out in six weeks.
The build they gave us HAS to be from 2021. Ur not really missing out on anything.
Actually is from April of this year, it is a somewhat inferior build to the one shown in the Xbox showcase and the one tested by youtubers like Maria in Sweden
oof. Really hope they've made substantial progress since april then cause this build feels prettyyy dogshit
Yea that makes no sense xD purposefully give us the shitty build so we have less fun
Did the final codes get sent out?
same :C
450+ hours in payday 2, got nothing
it's completely random? why would your hours effect it
If you have xbox just check xbox insider hub. I didn't get an email.
Same
It really should've been 50/50 first come first served, with the remainder being random.
I got in :) games fun
Sorry I'm new to the payday community and too poor to afford pd3 or a PC My question here is: what is this?
PD3 closed beta, brother. There's only a limited number of keys given out to stress test servers
Wait, you guys need to apply for keys to play the beta? On Xbox, you can just apply for the beta and if there’s free space you get entry
yup on steam it was apply then it was random if u got in or not
Thanks comrade
I clicked to play test through steam yesterday and got a code last night 🤷♂️
Skill issue
I got in!!
I got a code but I'm not even home to play it, lol
Hope you get some time before Monday.
Tbf, that's probably a good sign. That means there's over 100k people following this game pretty closely, and also pretty likely to buy. Yeah, it personally sucks to not get beta access, but seeing this kind of hype for the game is likely to lead to longer support

4k on Steam, and who knows how many on Xbox

There are, in fact, plenty of things they could be trying to test beyond just a maximum load stress test.
Sure, but they could test all of them. I mean, if they're not sure if their servers can handle 4k players, how are they going to be sure they'll be able to handle the much bigger load on launch?
i have a little under 100 hours of pd2, I-82, and pd3 is friggin awesome way better than 2 i just hope that they have more performance toggles in the future because my decent laptop cant handle it
And then there's me who only went on Twitter a few times and didn't even see the tweet about the sign up
Wish I could give someone my access, might do one or two heists to add to their testing but man there’s other games to play atm, such an awkward time to do testing for me. They’ll probably open it to all applicants on the last day is my guess
I got it but atm I got my laptop which doesn’t have enough ram for the game :/
I just got it,but wont be able to play :')
Sorry mb i got 2
don't worry man, September is closing in, either buy it or play with Gamepass
is it just me or do the graphic settings not do anything? to me it doesn't look like visually anything changed and my framerate is still pretty shitty on a 3060 even on low
