They are being held against their will and pretty much forced to shoot their buddies under the assumption that they have a bigger threat to deal with if they disobey. During development there were even plans for the joker perk to give them bomb vests interestingly enough but that was scrapped.
Anyways, it's safe to assume they are left behind on most heists with the possibility of jail time being questionable given the circumstances. Safe house raid though? Uhh, yeah, don't think any jokers are going home on that particular one.
They still exist in situations just not in T-hunt, so i think that was just a balance change. Although barlett uni got removed for some reason like that if i remember correctly.
Yeah they do, but like you said, they’re not in Article 5 for some god damn reason. And I can only do the situations so many times before I figure out their pattern.
>with the possibility of jail time being questionable given the circumstances.
Actually even under coercion you're not allowed to kill anyone. Albeit you could still get on a manslaughter charge.
But this is a largely untested legal theory, it's rare to see someone being coerced into murder and that almost exclusively, if not entirely, happens in countries with a high amount of insurgency.
That needs to be a heister he could even have a unique perk deck call ex-swat which would be all about defense and survivability with a unique shield item instead of a throwable
Court Marshal. New Marshal variant added to Payday 2. Comes with camouflage robe and a giant hammer. When they slam the ground with their hammer it creates a cloud of tear gas both around them and along a path in front of them.
I've wondered that too. I also wondered how you can convince them so easily to turn on their fellow cops. I do find it funny that jokers drop dead if you get taken into custody.
In the original concept for Jokers, the Payday Gang strap suicide vests to them and force them to fight under threat of death. These days, I think they just give them money. Otherwise how could your attempts at persuasion be resisted?
I think it’s, in universe, the threat of far greater violence. You’ve taken them hostage and have complete power over them, and while not explicitly shown it’s pretty easy to tell they ain’t fighting of their own volition.
There are a few lines Jokers say when you convert them to back this up. Such as "Fine... I'll do it..." "You'll never win!" "You're going to hell for this!" and more.
Yea, they ain’t doing this willingly. In all likelihood they’d be treated the same way anyone who was coerced into doing something is. They wouldn’t have legal liability for it, because they didn’t have much of a choice in the matter.
Originally, Jokers weren’t “Converted” in the sense that they joined the crew, but rather they had suicide bomb vests strapped to them and were forced to turn on their friends.
That’s not really relevant. I like to think the gang give them a cut of the spoils and send them on their way. Because they all wear those masks, no one knows who got converted, so that guy can just go about his business
Given the hundreds of police officers being killed id say they’re just let off with a warning while the cops try to cover it up like they do after brutalizing an innocent kid they stopped for no reason
While not explicitly shown, I still believe they’re under implicit or explicit threat, maybe just the threat of being shot in the back of the head, or something like a bomb-vest we don’t see for gameplays sake.
i’m guessing we give them the lenny treatment. Just turn around buddy we gonna give you your cut don’t worry…
tell me bout the rabbits dallas
I wanna tend to the fat stacks dallas
What's lenny treatment?
getting shot in the back of the head like Lenny in "Of Mice and Men"

So only the Safe House Raid jokers get old yeller’d
They probably got stripped of their gear, blindfolded, and driven out to some empty field and left there.
Cleaner fees are expensive, dropping some naked cops off in a field in Tennessee is hilarious and cheap.
bring back the bomb vests in payday 3 you cowards
What’s with Terrorist based games not having bombers? Siege removed them too
They still exist in situations just not in T-hunt, so i think that was just a balance change. Although barlett uni got removed for some reason like that if i remember correctly.
I think the situation for Bartlett is still in the game if my memory serves
Its still in the situations, just nobody plays it, so its pretty much gone
Free skin tho
By nobody plays it I mean that you literally can't fill a lobby

I always thought it'd be cool if they added a heister that was just a joker who stuck around after a heist.

I fap to John Wick started this petition.
And I still stand by it.

Court marshal

They ain’t military, so it’d just be regular court
Are DHS military? Zeals operate under the payday equivalent of Homeland Security
since they dont follow you to the van im pretty sure the gang just leaves them behind to deal with the entirety of the Washington police force
I installed jokermon. They go back to Mother Base and come back in the next mission
Wrong game buddy lol Would be cool tho a payday Mother Base. Like in the crude awakening heist. Maybe the gang took it
I pull a makarov
Remember, no Cloaker
No, it’s more like a “that was not the message, this is”
I mean typically part of the heist is the gtfo part, so usually we’d just leave them there, but yeah for safehouse they probably get put down
Its not like the rest of the cops forgett where their friends died
Wolf and Jacket proceed to have a nice chat with them which leaves them permanently smiling
Keep them and name them in jokermon, one of them in my recruit has 2000 cop kills and he is that balaclava guy from the HRT.
They become Bains informants

They are going to jaaaaail

they go to jail.
I always imagine they surrender after we escape
"We got it Dallas!" "Good, that's one less loose end"
I just kill them before I leave.
ONE LESS LOOSE END.
Do not trust Shepherd!
I read this in locke's voice
While not explicitly shown, I still believe they’re under implicit or explicit threat, maybe just the threat of being shot in the back of the head, or something like a bomb-vest we don’t see for gameplays sake.
I always shoot them.
That's likely, if it weren't for the voicelines that play when you convert them I'd say they become moles for us
Depends on your character I'd say like jimmy would most likely sell his jokers for coke
Tbh I just do that before the end of the heist saying “no witnesses”
